Ceremony Space

My reception is in RI but I cannot seem to locate a ceremony space. Our reception is at Roger Williams Casino, and I do not like the option for the ceremony there. I really am looking for something indoors. We are Catholic, but do not go to church. I really am just looking for a nice ceremony-only space, or a non denomination church. Help!!

Re: Ceremony Space

  • You'll probably find the most useful information about venues on your local RI board. This one's international, so not many people here know what's available in your area.
  • Are you both aware of and comfortable with the fact that not having a Catholic wedding will put you out of good standing with the Church and bar you from taking communion? (I would guess so since you don't attend church but I have been shocked before by people being totally unaware of the full implications)

  • Providence G on Weybossett St does ceremonies. It looks very nice from pictures, but I've never seen it in person.   We looked into this as an option bc we are also not having a Catholic wedding, but we ultimately decided to have the ceremony at our venue.

OK with me since I'm not a church goer anyway.  I never receive Communion when I'm attending church for a wedding or funeral, because the "rule" is, you're not "supposed" to if you haven't been to confession.  However, my FI will still receive communion, even though he isn't following the "rule" either.  It's all about what you're personally comfortable with.  A priest handing out Communion has NO way of knowing if "you're in good standing" with the church.  Just my opinion.
  • Did either of you go to College in RI, Don't the colleges have chapels that would be a great option, I think.
