I am not baptised, but my fiance is Catholic. Will Catholic Church allow our marriage in church?

Since my fiance is Catholic, we want to have a traditional ceremony in Catholic Church. However, I am not baptised. Please advise if Catholic Chuch will allow our marriage in church?

Re: I am not baptised, but my fiance is Catholic. Will Catholic Church allow our marriage in church?

  • No. My granddad is a deacon in the Catholic Church and you have to have all three of your sacriments and then attend marriage prep classes before you're allowed to marry in the church. We actually start our classes this week.
  • What all does a marriage prep class in the Catholic Church entail?
  • Depending on your parish, your prep classes will vary.  When we did ours, we met with our deacon several times and we also met with a sponsor couple.  Some churches require you go to on a retreat, and some require NFP classes.  It just depends.

And if you are not baptized, you can marry in the Catholic church, but you will have to obtain approval from the Bishop.
