Anyone elope in Vegas?

My fiance and I are planning our elopement in Vegas for the end of April during the middle of the week. We have the Chapel of the Flowers in mind but was hoping for suggestions for other places as well.
It will be just the two of us, low-key.
After being together for over 11 years and being engaged for over 3 years, we finally got hitched!

  • You may want to cross-post (put XP in the title) on the Las Vegas board, or I would be happy to move the existing post over there. This board is international and I've never even been to Vegas so you'll get more help there.

Well the nice thing about Vegas is that you can get married pretty much anywhere, so if you don't want to use a chapel, you don't have to.  You'll want to do the pre-registration for your marriage license at 60 days out:

    http://www.vegasgroom.com/Step-by-step-for-a-Las-VegasClark-County-marriage-license_94.html

Then you just pick it up at your convenience; in and out in five minutes instead of two hours in the line for people who didn't pre-register.

Find an officiant, choose a location, get married.  For people eloping, it's not uncommon to get married in unique places; some require permission, others do not.  The Vegas sign, Bellagio fountains, Eiffel Tower at Paris, the balcony at Ghost Bar, Mix Lounge, Foundation Room, Rio or any number of other places that have 50+ story venues overlooking the strip, Red Rock Canyon if you're not opposed to outdoors, a gondola ride at Venetian, etc.  You may find this is actually less expensive than a chapel too; typically an officiant who comes with you to do your ceremony is going to be in the $100 to $200 range, and that's your only real expense other than transportation.  My wife and I used Rev Roland August, http://www.themobileminister.com

In any case, tons of vendor links with reviews at http://www.vegasgroom.com/ and over on the Vegas board we should be able to answer just about any question you can come up with.  Just post with what you're really looking for in a chapel (or less traditional venue) and you'll likely get numerous options.

  • Thank you everyone. I'll see how I go about cross posting. Thanks for the tips Vegasgroom! :)
