Scratch off favor

My fiancé and I have decided to do a $1 scratch off per person at our wedding. We love gambling of any kind (most of my family does) and how fun would it be if someone actually won some money?! This being said I was just curious what people thought of this favor if you're not crazy about gambling? Is this a universally fun thing or will people think it's innapropriate? Keep in mind that we're having a very casual wedding (barn, fried chicken, margaritas, etc.). Thanks!

Re: Scratch off favor

  • It could be fun. Just make sure you set them out in a way that every guest gets one and people can't grab multiples.
  • Sounds fun. I agree with Erikan though - put one at each place setting. Otherwise people will grab a handful.

  • Someone I know gives scratch offs with all of their Christmas cards. I think it's an awesome idea.
  • Thanks! I was a little nervous about the reactions I would get, but y'all have made me feel better. Also, I hadn't considered putting the favors at each place setting.. great idea! :)
  • Yes.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I'm a fan!  Although my mom is methodist, so technically she's not supposed to gamble.  But reality, she drinks and gambles and swears (oh my!)  So as long as your guest list isn't a bunch of really conservative anti-gambling folks (doesn't sound like it is), I like this way better than the trinket-y crap that gets given out.  I don't want unwrapped M&Ms/jordan almonds/whatever in a mesh bag.  I don't take a mason jar/beer glass/shot glass.  I don't want anything monogrammed.  This is something I totally would dig.  Love the idea above with the shiny penny in with it.  Just go to bank and get shiny ones, not grimy ones.  Or soak them.
  • I think this is a great idea!  I never thought of it, but now we're considering it (even better our venue is called "the casino building" although it isn't actually a casino)  And I LOVE the idea of adding a shiny penny to scratch it off!  Thumbs up!!
  • I love this idea and have been considering doing it for our wedding in July! Its a gift that people will actually be EXCITED for!!

  • I think this is a great idea!

I attended a wedding where the scratch off tickets were part of our seating card.  It was a small vase, w a single flower in it, w a ribbon tied around and the scratch off  ticket attached, w my name and table # on the other side.  I thought it was a really cute idea.

  • I agree, this is a really cute idea. I agree with the previous posters, I would maybe put it in a cute cellophane bag with a penny.

You could probably even find ones that match the colors/theme of your wedding.

  • My family used to put a scratcher at each place setting before a special occasion family dinner. It was always fun and people even won some money a few times.

  • My only edit is to not do a cellophane bag, but that's just because I'm environmental defender and the thought of all that plastic for a lotto ticket and penny makes me cringe.

I would love your favor otherwise and I think it's a lot of fun!
