how many bridesmaids?

how many bridesmaids is too much? i have 9 and my fiancé only has 5 groomsmen. What would you do in this case? thinking about having guys already up at the altar and have the BM's walk in one by one.... my FI thinks it will look silly when up on the alter. thoughts?

    My son had 7 or 8 groomsmen, my DIL had 14 bridesmaids. In some instances, one groomsman escorted two bridesmaids.  I got to see the whole thing, because at a Jewish wedding, both parents walk the groom down first.  The processional looked beautiful with each "stem" (groomsman) having two "roses" (bridesmaids).  When I saw the video it confirmed that it was not my memory, it really did look gorgeous.  All of those beautiful wedding party members made for some spectacular photos.

    Even sides are not necessary. I'm having 5 ladies and Fi is having 3 gentlemen. the groomsmen will enter one by one, then the bridesmaids. The BM & MOH will walk out together and then 1 GM will have 2 BM on each arm when leaving the ceremony.
