Poem/Reading for a couple from different countries (UK/USA)

Hello! This is my very first forum post, and i was wondering if anyone could help?! We are a couple getting married in July of this year, I am from the UK and H2B is from the USA. We are getting married in the UK and looking for a non-religious poem or reading about couples that each come from a different country? Have been searching and searching and cannot find a single thing! We are not overly cheesy people, and must be non-religious as per the rules of a UK wedding not held in a church...! Thank you in advance for any help!

  • I don't know about anything that specifically mentions spouses from different countries, but you could choose an English author and have an American guest do the reading. Or visa versa.

We had a Shakespeare sonnet as one of our readings.

  • Well, Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "How do I love thee?" from Sonnets of the Portuguese, while not aexactly addressing this specific situation, might be a suitable reading.
