Sequin Bridesmaid Dresses

Anyone have any luck with buying sequin bridesmaid dresses? We are mostly finding dresses on Etsy, a bit risky to order as most of them come from China. We're looking for something with dark purple or silver, possibly both, and not necessarily all over sequins but definitely full length. Any suggestions would be fantastic!

Don't risk purchasing anything from China!!!!

Have you tried Rent the Runway? They have sequins dresses. It would probably be much cheaper to rent sequin dresses than buy them. Also, is there ANY possibility that your BMs will wear a sequins dress again? I know most of the time BM dresses are never worn again, but at least try to find something that might be worn again.

Also, is there ANY possibility that your BMs will wear a sequins dress again? I know most of the time BM dresses are never worn again, but at least try to find something that might be worn again.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. Sequin dresses can be very expensive. Plus they may not have an occasion to wear it again.

Whatever you decide, make sure you get their budgets before hand so you don't ask anyone to buy something they can't pay for!

For my friends new years eve wedding they did rent the runway. the dresses were gorgeous and they all fit perfect. You get two sizes, and one girl who was particular worried ordered the dress ahead of time to wear to a different wedding.

Adrianna Papell has some beautiful sequined dresses. Her dresses sell out of Macy's, Nordstrom's, etc.

I second Adrianna Papell. My first thought was sequin bridesmaid dresses because I've always loved hers in particular but I know most of my bridesmaids wouldn't be comfortable in sequins so I nixed the idea. They tend to go on sale around the holidays depending on how far out your wedding is.

@emoc625 I wanted my MOH to wear a sequined dress and have my bridesmaids wear dresses with some sort of beading on it, but it was such a hassle just to find the MOH's dress so I scrapped the idea.

@misskinababy I am wearing a crystal belt on my dress and I got my MOH a skinnier version of it to wear on her dress so she had a little bling too without going full on sequins or beaded.

@emoc625 my MOH is wearing a black belt with a flower attached. Her dress is Vera Wang and it was shown with a huge flower belt, but unfortunately it was discontinued.

Great minds think alike! I was going to suggest this as well. I just rented a sequined floor-length dress for a formal affair from there. One of the reviewers on the dress I got actually said she had gotten it for a bridesmaid dress.

I had my bridesmaids in floor length rose gold sequin dresses from Rent the Runway and it worked out PERFECT. They looked AMAZING and I was kind of jealous and wanted to rent one for myself to change into. But I didn't. Because that would be weird.

But they were able to wear super amazing, pricey designer sequin dresses for about $80/dress for the weekend. Super easy. I gave them the option of renting any floor length sequin dress they wanted, but they all ended up wanting the same dress so we rented it in a ton of different sizes (you get two sizes with each order, like a PP mentioned), and we had them arrive a couple days ahead of time so if we needed another, RTR would have overnighted one out.

I'm sorry to jump on this thread, but it seems wasteful to start a new one, for those of you who used RTR, how far in advance did you have everyone reserving? My wedding is 6 months away( too far in advance to start reserving on the website) so I am not sure how to tell everyone what to do. My plan was to send a RTR "shortlist", with additional links to AP dresses and other sparkly options as well, as "suggestions", but I worry that too many choices and directions will be hard to keep track of. As in for me to keep track of whether or not someone has a dress yet. All my maids live OOT except one and my sis/moh, so I thought this would make things easier, but I am wondering if it will actually makes things harder... Thoughts??

If you want your girls to all be wearing the same dress, the earliest they are able to reserve the dress, the better. If you want to just give them a list of dresses and tell them to get their favorite, then I wouldn't necessarily order ASAP, but probably a month or two before your wedding. For the OOT girls, I would have their dress deliveries go to your house or somewhere local to the wedding.

I am having a destination wedding, so I wasn't going to have the dresses sent there in case dresses didn't fit and new ones have to be overnighted. Also I decided to just give them a list of RTR dresses to pick from, and they are all THRILLED. So I feel like it was a good choice. Thanks for your input!
