E.L. James takedown on Twitter (might be TMI)

Re: E.L. James takedown on Twitter (might be TMI)

  • I just popped in here to say:

    1. After being begged by my friends to read 50 Shades, I downloaded a sample and couldn't get past all the grammatical errors.

    2. There is a LOT of incredible fan fiction out there. I can't believe this was published.

    3. There is a LOT of incredible erotic literature that doesn't use the same, weird-ass words to describe penises over and over and over again.

    4. E.L. James is a dumb-butt, and her publicist/agent is apparently worse for thinking that Q&A was a good idea.
  • This makes me laugh. I mean it's an erotica novel and people are saying it's written bad? Isn't that like critiquing a porn star for being a bad actor ? I like the books. Its a change from watching "2 girls one pole".
Yes, because these are literally the only two options in life!

I know you are being sarcastic but I'm not sure as to why. Are you trying to shame me for liking porn? Or is it the choice of porn you detest?

LOL. I have no issue with porn, and you can watch whatever you like. I didn't realize you were literally speaking for yourself - I read it as more of a general statement akin to when one says, "Well, I'd rather kids do blah blah blah than sit around watching video games all day!" or one of the many other straw man generalizations people often throw around that aren't actually relevant to the discussion at hand. If you were being literal, I apologize for my snarkiness (though I still think the books are garbage).

Oh well that explains it. I was being literal. I need to buy more stuff.
  • If you want to read a really, really funny review of Fifty Shades of Gray check this one out by Dave Barry

  • Recommending my go to paranormal romance novelist- Jeaniene Frost and the Night Huntress series. There's actually a plot in the books, the protagonist is a butt kicking half vampire woman, and in one of the novels, the male lead (a vampire) actually says "Ask me if I sparkle, and I will kill you where you stand." LOVE IT.

Linky below is for the chronological order of the books.

Another better option for massively detailed sex scenes amidst an actual story, with lots of BDSM? Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series (legacy and scion); the Naamah trilogy does not have BDSM, but still gratuitous sex.
