  • 62 days to go!!

We are looking for a really casual spot to do a super informal meet and greet the day before the wedding.  I originally wanted to do the piano bar at NYNY @xoeden :) but I realize that 8 year old niece will not be able to get in, her fake ID isn't that great. (just kidding).

We are staying at the Cosmo with the rest of our guests staying in the vicinity, Aria, Caesars, Vdara, Polo Towers. My next idea was maybe the pub at Monte Carlo but that might be a bit of a walk.  Do you all have any suggestions that I am missing?  I like the little bar in the middle of the Aria - Alibi but again, not kid friendly.

We are open to any suggestions and we don't necessarily want to make a reservation. Just a very informal meeting at whatever time. Whoever wants to come for a drink or bite to eat is welcome.

    Thanks all!

Just bought our rings! They're not your usual shiny gold or platinum things, but they're perfect for us. Mine is going to be about half the width of the ones in the picture.

    Still working on:

Transportation from Aria to Firefly. Waiting for a more secure head count, I'm in between bus sizes right now (which = $$)
    Welcome bags
Finding the right clip-in hair extensions. I want a longer curled ponytail for the wedding!

  • @trm358 you may have saved our catering!! Thank you SO MUCH for the recommendation about Sauced! We're having a pretty casual reception, so their tapas menu is seriously perfect, and they've been fast and reliable in communications just as you said. We're getting pretty excited about this.

If anyone else is curious: http://www.saucedvegas.com/tapas-menu
  • 50 days away!!!!
  • 35 for me! Yikes!!!!

    40 days!  o_O

    To do:
    - FH still has to buy his suit; I assume he's aware this means he has to shop for it and that it will not in fact magically appear in his closet, so hopefully he'll be on that (he's got plenty of nice suits so it's not like he'll have nothing to wear, he just wanted a new one)
    - Since he wants a linen suit, I now have to figure out how we're getting our stuff steamed/pressed; I was gonna wing it but there's no winging it with linen
    - Figure out what undergarments I need, purchase if necessary
    - Make the playlist, figure out the exact setup for playing it, and prepare backups
    - GET SOME FREAKING BAKERS TO RESPOND TO AN INQUIRY, I have one quote from Las Vegas Custom Cakes and they seem a little pricey but I'm about to go with them just because nobody else has responded to me after I used their own contact forms... Glad I'm down to my last couple vendors because I'm getting pretty tired of this. Am I missing something about business culture in the Western U.S.? Is it normal for a customer to have to contact a business multiple times to even get their attention?
    - GET SOME FREAKING LIMO COMPANIES (etc etc), also is it just me or do most of the companies have a lot of great reviews and then a handful of NIGHTMARE reviews? Kinda makes me scared to hire any of 'em
    - Get a hotel room for the last night we're in Vegas -- we'd reserved the suite where we're having the reception for Fri-Sun, we later decided to splurge on keeping it for the whole time we're there -- but by the time we did that, somebody else had booked it for the last night we're there! Damn!
    - Possibly buy new wedding rings, as ours have disappeared in the post. :(
  • @damnthetorpedoes, on the positive side, you know your fiance's suit will fit! Mine got his made about six months ago, and it's already too big! We had to take it to the tailor last weekend for a last minute taking in. >_<

8 days later -- lots accomplished!

    Done!
    - FH bought his suit! And it was on HUGE discount from a clearance sale! And it looks awesome on him!
    - Got the cake! I sent out a new round of inquiries and went with the one that responded in 3 hours saying "Yep, that all sounds great, we can do it, here's how." Other bakeries took anywhere from 2 business days to 1 full calendar week to respond, one never responded at all, and most took some kind of objection to what I asked for. We were NOT asking for the moon here -- one single tier naked cake, and one single tier white frosted cake with a logo on the top -- no figurines, no crazy architecture, no complicated design AT ALL. The bakery that took the longest to respond actually sent an e-mail that was borderline verbally abusive about how our ideas were terrible and they would not make anything resembling the things we asked for, but we could contact them if we were interested in something else. Won't say who it was just now (but the name rhymes with "Creed's")
    - Got the transport! Had to let go of the party bus idea -- being blessed with a way higher turnout than expected means we've got too many people to fit onto one (and it's going to be much too hot for a double-decker), so we're having 2 ordinary shuttle buses.
    - Got hotel room for the last night we're there, but I do need to call the Delano and let them know we're moving rooms/combine the reservations
    - Got our wedding rings! Not sure what happened, but they magically turned up at our doorstep yesterday after tracking and inquiries went nowhere. Phew!

    Still to Do
    - Make an appointment to get our stuff steamed/pressed (our DOC recommended a service, I just need to set it up with them)
    - Figure out what undergarments I need, buy if necessary
    - Make the playlist, figure out the exact setup for playing it, and prepare backups

... and that's really about it!
  • I'm glad you have had a productive week! You're basically done! It must be a great feeling.

  • My cake is from "Creeds". So far, no issues. I have called, rather than emailed them. Not sure if that made a difference.

  • Congratulations to you both this week! I hope your weddings are everything and more!

Just curious, how was the marriage license process?
  • Hello All!

Can't believe I just NOW found this thread! I'm getting married at the Bellagio on the 16th! We are doing a "cocktail party" the night before in the Penthouse fountain suite, then wedding at the Bellagio chapel....afterwards a sit down lunch (in a private area) at Cafe bellagio, then off to a private estate for some mingling and food.

I am a DIY bride and have to to make and ship so many things already to my family in Cali.

I'm just so concerned that I want everyone to enjoy themselves since it's not your "traditional" wedding!

For favors - I've done "hangover kits" with tins filled with mints and the wedding weekend itinerary in a cute little gift bag (have to make 40 of those, eek), then small little candy bags with truffles on each place setting, then since we can't throw rice, I made satin wedding "wands" so when we walk down the aisle it's a splash of color! This was supposed to be an inexpensive fun weekend, but we blew budget by a few grand already....and we aren't even there yet :/ But hey we only get married once right!!!
  • Welcome! And congrats on your upcoming wedding. My wedding is the 15th so we'll actually be in Vegas at the same time! We arrive on the 12th. How about you?

Trust me, I feel your pain with the overspending. At this point I've just stopped calculating. It's depressing lol. Just a few more details and I'm done.
  • I blew my budget by a lot haha. In the end, it was the most amazing 5 days and I wouldn't change anything. We have been married almost 4 months and people are still talking about our wedding. :)

  • Wow! It's been four months already??? How's married life? I'm happy to see you're still hanging around.
  • ....& it's August!!!!!!
  • Married life is great. We are now planning our honeymoon in September....New Orleans and a cruise to Belize, Honduras and Cozumel.

  • Can't wait to hear all about everyone's big days!! I'm 18 days away.  So excited.
