@kvruns OMG fuck those people! My co-worker I just vented about? She set up a Friday AFTERNOON meeting. Those are the WORST! And this is going to be absolutely pointless and annoying. Ask me your questions in an email!

Guest checking in on Saturday:   " We would like to check-in at 9am"

Me: I'm sorry we have a full house on Friday night.  check-out is 10am, I would not be able to guarantee an early check-in.

Guest:  but I have an early wedding and MUST check-in at 9am.

Me: I  understand and we will do our best to have a room ready as soon as possible, however we will not be able to accommodate a 9am check-in.  As I said, we have a full house on Friday night.

Guest:  but I need to check in early.   You MUST help me.

This goes on and on 5 minutes.    WTF people?  I'm not trying to be an ass here, but what do you propose I do?  Go knocking on doors at 7am to get people out of their rooms, rooms they are allowed to stay in until 10am.  Then housekeeping can come in and clean to be ready by 9am for YOU?

It's fucking New Orleans.  People are fucking hungover.  Hell it takes all we have to get them out by 10am.

Oh BTW - housekeeping doesn't even come in until 9am.  So there's that too.

LOL. I'm sure you've mastered "We have a restroom in the lobby you can use and we will hold your bags for you. Good day."

    yep.

They also asked for a 1pm check-out because they will be partying at the wedding.

I'm reviving this thread because of one of my coworkers today. A couple of weeks ago one of our suppliers asked him a question. Somehow because my document will be included in the package they're discussion, I got included in the discussion.

Today, I got an email from coworker asking if I had set up the meeting we discussed. Firstly, if I had set up the meeting it would be on your calendar.
Secondly, it's not my question or my issue and I don't remember saying I would set up a meeting. I might have said he should set up a meeting, but I don't think I volunteered. So I email him back and agree he might as well just email the lady before setting up a meeting we may not need.
Then, I see him on the way to get my lunch and he asks me to send the email. Gah! Are you so lazy you can't send your own dang email? I had to ask him to outline the issue for me again because it's not my deal and I didn't bother to remember the specifics. So basically he sent the first email to try and get to me to setup his meeting, then outright asked when I didn't volunteer.

I'm just so annoyed because this coworker used to be my favorite on the project, but he just keeps asking me to make decisions I have no real input in. Figuring that out isn't part of my job and isn't really something my function can decide, I do not have the necessary information. And now he's just pushing off his work onto me. Blergh.

I work in a company where for your first year, you don't get very much sick time or vacation time. H and I are leaving the country on Saturday for a week to celebrate our first anniversary.
There are four people on my floor who have a nasty cold, yet they insist on coming into the office.
If I'm sick on my one vacation I will be so bullshit.
If your sick, FFS stay home!

I went down to my office this morning.   NO POWER.  Nothing.

The rest of the house is fine, flipped breakers, still nothing.     Just had to move everything upstairs to the dinning room.  Which is attached to the l living room and kitchen.

DH basically has to stay up in the bedroom unless he wants to hear my work conversations.

It's like I'm having a  Monday part deux.

I am guessing the two bolded are related (and add in if you can't work from home that plays in too)

Our new employee thinks she's my boss. We're different departments, but if anything, I would be her boss. It was humorous at first, but it's annoying as shit now.

The two bolded statements do end up going hand-in-hand. But we have a very generous work from home policy.

I'm thinking about working from home for the rest of the week to protect myself from this sick ward.

Just because we are "friendly" outside of work - doesn't mean I will do your work for you.

Unless a raise is involved.. then maybe I'll consider it.

We just got a memo saying space heaters are against the policy. I don't know about anyone else's office, but ours is always cold. I sit in a cube that doesn't have any heaters so I need to use my space heater so I am not an ice cube at work. Maybe I should come in dress like a snow man so they get the message.

What? Did you say NO HEATERS?

My heater is my best friend.

Is there an email where I can file a complaint for you?

I just yelled at by a doctor because our software program doesn't support his ancient browser. It's ridiculous to expect companies to support Windows 98 just because you want to use your piece of shit home computer.

Also, this guy was such an asshole that I let my main contact, his boss's boss know about it. I wouldn't have bothered but he made a bunch of empty threats to me that crossed a line. I was informed that he will be sending me an apology by the end of the week or will be written up. It's nice to be supported but I don't love ugly relationships like this.

SO, I came back from my honeymoon, small company so everyone knows it was for the wedding. I am not expecting everyone to congratulate me or care if anyone did, but now that I have been back for 3 days and yesterday afternoon our CEO is the first and only to even mention the wedding and congradulate me.. I am feeling weird about it.. my H got a full on work shower, food, and gifts before he left.. I didn't even got one good luck..

Now there are only 2 other woman out of 45 people, so I am not taking it to hard, but it rubbed me wrong when I realized the CEO yesterday was the first and only to say one thing..

Also, we created a new position a year ago to help me with my position (company has grown, I was handling it but with lots and lots of overtime).. well 3 months ago we hired dude.. I train dude, and he has an attitude like I am below him the whole time. doesn't clean after himself (Chemist so we work in a lab where a liquid puddle could be water, or ya know acid). Responds to our boss with "Yes Sir" so much I literally roll my eyes every time. He can't grasp that A follows B in the alphabet... Oh yea and the main reason he was hired was to make my job easier, nope makes it ten times harder then complains that I talk to him like a child.. We are supposed to be a team, but we don't speak, and doesn't help me or do his job but everyone loves him because he is nice.. OHH one more he has the girliest laugh ever like high pitched doesn't have balls laugh..

My co-worker (previously mentioned moaner) is now talking so loudly on the phone that it feels like she's screaming. I am wearing ear buds and have the music so loud it is hurting my ears and I can STILL hear her.

I've already posted on this thread once, but I have a new and terrifying vent as of yesterday:
I was out surveying for work in a big empty field. I find a small spider on my hand (really not a fan of spiders), flick it off and carry on. There's a well at the survey point, essentially a metal pole about 3' high with a lid on it. I look at it and see there's about 4 more of these same spiders on it. I figure there's a nest at the base of the well somewhere, so I move my gear about 10 feet away. I'm still unable to shake the feeling that there's spider silk on me, I look up and see that there's about 4 more spiders overhead, flying in at me. It was literally raining spiders. I screamed like a baby and ran away. I think it's time to find a new job.

My boss will completely exaggerate a situation and it bothers me. The  other day she pulled me into the office and said EVERYONE was talking about my productivity. I asked a few people about it and they were shocked and made comments about how I've helped them with their work as well as doing my own. I haven't been in this job for a year yet but I highly doubt every single person I work with said something in the matter of 1 day without saying anything to me. Oh well, I'm moving on.
