Wedding dresses!

Hello fellow brides to be!
I'm getting married next July and I'm starting to think about dress shopping. I don't have a large budget for my dress (I want to spend under 700) but I don't want to be restricted to davids bridal. Are there any other bridal salons that have well priced dresses?

Re: Wedding dresses!

  • Where in the Hudson Valley are you located? I went to Letitia's in Monsey. She had a large selection.
  • I would still go to David's Bridal! I went there to see what styles would look good on me, and it was 13 months before my wedding- so I really wasn't going to buy a dress...I kept saying "I want to get my dress at a real store- not David's Bridal" But the first dress I tried on was absolutely gorgeous.  I tried on other very gorgeous dresses- but that first one was so perfect.  I ended up paying $675 for a Melissa Sweet gown.  It was the last one in stores, my size AND on sale.  I couldn't have found a similar gown at that price.  Also, I went on the site and marked all of my favorites, brought the list to the shop and the consultant I worked with just started picking some that she thought would look good on me from the racks.  Each one she chose was perfect for my body type.  I had a list of over 20 dresses but I could have stopped at the first dress.  I had a really good experience, but I know that a lot of people don't have that much luck there.
  • I'm near kingston, I've never heard of Letitia's but that's so ironic because that's my future mother in law's name!
  • Thank you for sharing your experience, I'll definitely give davids bridal a chance.
  • Yes, in NYC:
    Rent the Runway
    RK Bridals
    Glamour Closet
For the lower budget gowns, you'd have to shop from the rack and pay for alterations.  For RK - go on their website and print out the dresses you want to try on.
