FH & I have been gifted a week's timeshare by my MOH's mother. She has said that she will not be hurt if we choose to do something different for our honeymoon and use the week at a different time of the year (we can switch it out for a whole bunch of places around the world).
However, if we use it for our honeymoon it does seem to make the most sense to stick to her "home resort" which is the Marriot Surf Club in Aruba. FH & I are stuck between whether we do that or opt for Sandals Barbados (all inclusive and far enough South that we feel pretty safe as far as hurricanes go).
Sandals looks to be about 4500 plus airfare if we get a good deal. Has anyone been to Aruba and can we happily stay under that amount (we would like to book a few fun excursions/activities as well) or are we going to wish we had gone AI? My first assumption was that this was going to be much cheaper since we aren't paying to stay, but I've heard mixed things re: prices on food/drink.
