  First of all, I've had a few glasses of wine, so if I've missed this point being discussed already, I apologize sincerely.

  and then... after he "pulled up a chair", he was upset that your friends approached him about the pricing he discussed with you? In public, and presumably in their presence? No offense, but for him to imply that this was in ANY WAY your indiscretion is unreasonable. If it happened exactly as you describe, HE was the one being irresponsible with his business, NOT you, and frankly I would find it offensive for him to try and offload that burden onto you.
