Affordable rustic wedding venue Metro-Detroit

Hello,
I recently got engaged and we are having a really difficult time finding affordable wedding options in our area. We are looking at 175 guests, open to indoor/outdoor options. Preferably an affordable rental location that allows outside catering and bar options. We don't have a set budget, but we just don't want to empty our savings or have to take out loans for one day! We just want our families and close friends to be able to come out and celebrate with us at a pretty venue. Looking for suggestions on venues and catering for this area!
Thanks!
Katie

  • I don't know what would count as "rustic" but I do know if you scroll down and read, there have been a few venues that allow outside catering and bartending.  I'm not sure what you consider affordable and I would caution you that some Michigan laws have changed to where many venues will make you insure all of your guests for one or two days (depending on how late your reception goes) if you are serving alcohol.  I don't know how much that costs but it definitely adds.  But like I said, lots of good recommendations like the Packard Plant and some places in Pontiac.
  • I recommend you check out Indian Springs Metro Park. We had our wedding reception there and couldn't have been happier! You can do the in door out door thing if you want, and the indoor location  has floor to ceiling glass windows on two walls that leads to outdoor balcony that leads out to the park. It unfortunately doesn't allow outside catering, but the caterer has very reasonable packages, and the guests loved the food!

  • As @MandTFebruary62011 mentioned, there are links in other posts but I'd check out the Belle Isle Casino, Royal Oak Farmers Market, Packard Proving Grounds, Noah's, or Wessin Tennis Club.
