Detroit/Metro-Detroit Venue that Allows Outside Vendors

Hi!

We are attempting to plan a wedding from 10 hours away from Detroit. You would think this would be a relatively easy feat considering our small town is internet capable, but we want to use our own vendors and looking has been a pain in the neck. With that said, does anyone know of any place that allows vendors of my preference instead of their preferred vendors? I LOVE the Ford Piquette Plant but hate their inability to respond and their price. It does, however, tell me what type of venue I want. I would consider myself a simple bride with a strict budget. I love rustic, industrial, or even someplace in a huge backyard with twinkle lights and plenty of candles. Considering our budget is SUPER strict, my ideal venue would be inexpensive but we expect about 200 guests. Please let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks so much!

My other posts on this board have the links but I'm on my phone so I can't do it. If you like Piquette, you'll love Pakcard Proving Grounds. I believe they're 3k to rent.

Where in Detroit you want to have your wedding may change my opinion but I'd look at the following:

30 North; downtown Pontiac (this is my venue)
    Rust Belt Market; Ferndale
Royal Oak Farmers Market; Royal Oak
    Eastern Market; Detroit

    Good luck!

  • I forgot about eastern market. Do you have anymore information on then??
  • I don't, I'm a December bride so they weren't available for us, but here is their link.

  • This list (link below) is sort of old, but I believe all are still available. My son and daughter-in-law had their wedding last September at the Belle Isle Casino. I'd highly recommend it. Since the state of Michigan DNR took over they have more staff and while they aren't in the business of rentals, but in the business of maintaining an island, their response time is better. They started looking into this at least 6 months before their preferred wedding date, and every Saturday was already booked. They got married the Friday before Labor Day in 2015.

IF you are looking into a location to bring in everything, I'd highly recommend obtaining the services of a wedding coordinator. They used Grand Jour Events who are reasonably priced AND take it to the next level.

  • I came across the Jam Handy as well as a venue that has an industrial feel and allows you to bring in your own food, drinks, etc.

I tried and tried and could not get a hold of anyone there, but the facility is too cool!  I love it!
