  My Dad served in the Army for six years (three active duty, three reserve) and had guard duty the Christmas Eve that he was in Vietnam. For some reason, Armed Forces Radio played "I'll Be Home for Christmas," followed by "Christmas Eve in my Hometown." To this day, he refuses to listen to either song.

  That song was written during World War ll, referencing all the men who were away from home, serving their country.  "I'll be home for Christmas - if only in my dreams."  My Dad was a WWll vet.

  The National Anthem gets me too.   And nearly every time I hear Amazing Grace or something else that's a bit of a slower tune on the bagpipes I well up.    (No, Ross Gellar's "Celebration" is not included).
  
  Our last dance was to Paul Simon's "Late in the Evening" and I get happy tears from that one.

  "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor. My dad used to sing it as a lullaby to me (changed the name to mine) when I was little, but after he was treated for throat cancer, he can't sing well anymore. We are using it as our father-daughter dance. We're both going to be blubbering messes but there isn't any other song that I'd want to use.
