Affordable Venues in the DC/MD/VA Area – $5000 or Less

Hello everyone,

I am a newbie here, in the VERY EARLY planning stages of a 2017 wedding! I posted in the venue section already, but given I am on a budget, I probably should have come straight to this section :)

I am on a tight budget and looking for an affordable venue in the DC/MD/VA area that would cost $5000 or less (and possibly include tables & chairs). I need to stay within 20 miles of Hyattsville, MD as that’s where the ceremony would be. I also would not like to do an outdoor tented venue.

I have already looked at PG County Elegant Settings venue and was hoping for The Prince Georges’ Ballroom but it looks like people have already put deposits for the dates I was interested in.

I am also looking into Rock Creek Mansion in Bethesda, Occasions Banquet Hall in Laurel, or Visarts in Rockville. Anyone familiar with/has experience with any of them?

Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

When you are looking for a venue, do you mean including food?  We used the Norbeck Country Club in Rockville, and their venue charge was only about. $1,100, but add the food, drink, service charges and taxes, and it came to about $8,000.  We had a brunch buffet that was marvelous!
The Belair Mansion in Bowie does weddings.

  • You may want to post this on the local boards to there since this is an international one.  Before you look at venues - you need to solidify your guest list!!  A $5000 budget is going to go a lot farther with a 20 person guest list than it will a 150 person guest list...

Thank you for you for your response  :) $5000 is just for venue (+ tables + chairs preferably).

I will be sure to take a look at the ones you  mention.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will post on the local board as well. $5000 is not the total budget for everything. It's just for the venue (preferably including tables 7 chairs)  :)

There are several easy ways to control your costs.

    1.  Cut your guest list.  How many guests are you expecting to invite?
    2.  Have a morning ceremony followed by a brunch or lunch reception.  You can save a lot with this plan and still have elegance.  Guests who are driving in from out of town will appreciate that they can return home in the evening instead of staying in a hotel.
    3. Check your nearby country clubs for their wedding packages.  Be sure prices include tips and taxes.  Those can be expensive, and a nasty surprise if you aren't counting on them.  Ask if the cost of service is included.

  • Also consider your favourite restaurants. Some won't charge for the venue and then your food will be fantastic.
  • It may be a little far, but Harford and Cecil Counties have a few options if your guest list is under 125!
