  Review after review on these boards show poor customer service, failure to update list quickly and high service charges. Also, guests find them very inconvenient. Overwhelmingly, the thought is it is better to register at a few stores you like and use cash you receive for other gifts.

  One of the biggest problems I have heard about, is if a guest buys an item off your registry directly from one of the stores your item is listed at, it doesn't always get update on your online registry. Thus, you may end up with duplicates.
  
  Either go with an Amazon registry, or have 2, maybe 3 registries at the physical stores you like.

  When I've used those third party sites as a guest, I've been pretty frustrated. Shipping costs were sometimes higher, they didn't honor coupons or discounts the store itself was offering, etc. Plus if it's for a store I'm not super familiar with, I would still like to pick out (or at least check out) items in a brick & mortar store.
  
  As someone getting married, I would hate to have to mail back any returns, and would rather be able to walk my returns in. And I'd rather register at a store I was familiar with instead of an online company.

  Thank you for all the feed back. I am leaning toward doing a couple registries at actual stores.
