I have a minor vent.  I'm really working to be a nicer person and not so judgy, but I also feel that we need to vastly improve science education in this country.

TL;DR: not surprisingly, a toy that children chew on will grow mold when exposed to warm, moist conditions.  And people are losing.their.shit on FB.  It keeps popping up in my feed, probably because some of DS's friends' have younger sibs.

I mean, I'm not saying you should give your child a hunk of mold to chew on.  But WTF did you think would happen?  Have you ever had a bath toy, even as a kid?  Moisture gets in there, mold grows, you toss it.  You don't have to clutch your pearls get all

Image result for think of the children gif
Have you ever had a moldy apple in your house?  Did you lose your mind, or did you keep it out of your mouth and toss it away?  Jeebus, you'd think they found anthrax in them or something.

TBH, I would be way more worried if something didn't grow in there than if it did.
Some chick in a mommy group on facebook was screaming about Juicy Juice the other day because it had mold in it and telling people not to buy that brand. She posted a picture of the bottle and it was advertising a movie that came out 7 months ago. It was obviously expired. Then, just to prove that common sense is not a flower that grows in every garden, other mommy's were saying that they didn't know you were supposed to refrigerate juice after opening so they were putting it in the cabinet.
This made me chortle. Thank you for that.

I keep seeing all the same things. Makes me want to bang my head against a wall. You mean something you routinely put in a dark, wet, warm place is going to grow mold? Go figure.

Apparently not? I really thought it was common sense to refrigerate juice, though!

I have said this many times!
  • People who don't listen!

For my job, I book appointments and tell the client a list of things to bring in. I state as I'm telling them, there's things we need as information.

    Conversation I just had is a perfect example {also nicer version, people can get snarky}
Me: can you bring in your vehicle ownership so we can get a copy for information?
Him: Yeh. Why do you need it for?
    Me: We need a copy.
    Him: Yeh .... but why?
Me: For information. We need to know what's in your name.
    Him: Oh. But Why?

  • Random vent about some lady on the bus, and this happens a lot so it's not just her .... she just did it in a super rude way.

I take the public transit to work. There's a lot of students because it's on the route to a high school and college.

Lady who is sitting next to me, bumps my arm - hard, might I add - and points
"Should I move now so you can get off for the college?"

Me; Uhm ... no? I'm not getting off there.
Lady: *looks confused* Oh. *eyes me*

I mean .... I've had people assume I'm younger, but never blatantly just assume they're right. She

    Guhh!

Oh, @MissKittyDanger.  I was you...once upon a time.  It's even worse when strangers STOP assuming you're HS or college aged, lol.

There's a Harrahs casino in NOLA and they're pretty hard-core with checking for IDs.  You have to be 21 or over just to enter.  So I walked in the other day and I usually just waltz past security because...well...I rarely get asked anymore :(.  This particular security guard called me back over to check my ID.  Except, once I was only a couple feet away from her, she waved her hand and said, "Never mind, you're fine."  Doh!!!  Dagger to the heart, lol.  I even teased her and said, "Oh, harsh!  Now that I'm closer you don't need to see my ID.  I'm hurt (laughing)."

  • @short+sassy  my mum is gonna be 56 and she still sometimes gets asked for i.d - most women in my family don't look their age so I'm not even surprised. It will be a damn miracle when I don't get asked!

@sparklepants41  I should have! I felt pretty snarky when she said that lol
  • Super petty vent.

I don't know if some/all of you are also getting the IN YOUR FACE, moving all over the page, Men's Warehouse ad on TK today.

Granted, the ad, especially all the moving around on the page, is annoying.

But I'm venting about the groom in it.  He is seriously creeping me out.  He is so weirdly WAY in the foreground as compared to all the other people and objects.  Almost like a 3-D movie.  I want to hold my hands up to block him from leaping out at me, lol.  The big, super fake smile doesn't help things.

Yup. It's really annoying and the page won't stop moving. Also I really don't like the way that groom is looking at me - like "It's my wedding day, but now that YOU'RE here, I will totally leave my bride." Gross.

On a somewhat related note, TK keeps logging me out. All. Day. Long. Super annoying.
  • Yes, this is super annoying. It has happened several days recently!
  • We were in a suite yesterday for a basketball game.    About the 3rd quarter DH pointed out there was some huge red wine stains on the back of my sweater.    Now only my co-workers were in the suite.   Only 4 of us were drinking red wine.  I don't mind someone spilled the wine on me.  Accidents happen, but they couldn't have warned me when it happened?

To add to my vent, I tried to log onto The Limited site to get a new one and they have been down all day.   :(

I was going to vent about literally all of this, including the groom.

That's such a bummer. I feel like it's an end of an era. You could always count on them for great stuff. I remember one of the first outfits I bought there (welp my mom bought it for me lol) was in the early 90s - an oversized shirt worn with leggings and a necktie (it was in back then). I thought I was the shit lol.

  • I bought my baby sister a very overpriced black cowboy hat there once long ago :)
  • Venting about the asshole in the F150 who tried to run me off the road this morning when he decided that he had to pass me AFTER the two lanes became one.  Okay, fine, sit in my blind spot for 5 miles, match whatever speed I'm going (I mean, that pissed me off, but that seems to be the norm for this area).  But to also THEN decide you want to pass me AFTER your lane ends?  And not even when you see the sign that says the lanes are ending, like legitimately a half mile AFTER the lane has ended?

    No, sir.  GTFO.

Yes and no....their buyer must have changed when they divested from the Express brands and I felt like their clothing selection took a turn for the worse.  They used to be my go to for great sweaters, and now it seems like only their pants are the same.

I always liked their work pants/skirts/jackets.  They always held up well and were classic so they didn't go out of style.      And like I said above, their ribbed turtleneck sweaters were a go to for me.

OSIL has been telling me more about her divorce saga and i kind of want to shake her "you did this to yourself, stop being such a selfish bitch, and think about how this is impacting your kids and your parents"

apparently she is planning to move in with MIL/FIL with her 3 kids and 2 dogs if she can't buy a mini-mcmansion before she has to vacate the house. ILs don't want them there because the newly remodeled house will be trashed, they'll be paying for everything, and they will end up as default childcare. however, they are also way too big on family duty to tell her no. She took advantage of that once before (her, STBEx, oldest kid and 2 dogs) - by living with them for a solid 8 months while relocating back to their area. (They were more than capable of paying to rent a place while they looked at houses and MIL and FIL were miserable for the full time but refused to ask them to leave.)

she has to be sinking her entire financial settlement into buying a house, unless she's planning to use her child support and alimony to pay  off the mortgage. (it may be a combo of both - I can guess about what she makes and there's no way she can afford the places she's looking at.)

ETA: her STBEx is being just as stupid and selfish in this whole thing.
  • Venting about my flatmates.. Don't get me wrong I love them as friends but I am super excited for FI and I to move into our own house and pay our own mortgage!

When we first moved in together M asked if she could be "flat mum". We agreed and that was that. Fast Forward to today...
Our lease is up at the end of this month which is no surprise to anyone. She still doesn't have confirmation of whether a gardener is going to come in and do the gardens. I have brought it up nicely with her a couple of times over the last two months and have pointed out that if we can't get a gardener it would be nice to know so we can do it ourselves instead of having our bond be held back (I also knew of a few places we could get vouchers for cheaper rates and offered to book it myself).
She tells me not to worry, she will organise and it will all be fine.. FI and I even offered to do it and she said no, she wants a professional.

It's two full days in the garden at least. I hate gardening but if it means I get my bond back I will do it.

I like to be super organised so this is really frustrating, on top of them just being terrible at cleaning. No amount of talking to them has worked. M and L seem to think "everything is fine". That and she hasn't had reimbursement from the property manager yet for the two times we have had the gardener come though... That was last year.

On the plus side settlement day for our new home is on Tuesday! And getting married in March! Woohoo!

Yay!  That is a lot of awesome, great stuff happening!

I suspect you'll love your current flatmates even more as friends, once they're no longer your flatmates ;).

In New Zealand, is "settlement day" the day when your house purchase is a done deal and keys are (potentially) turned over?  Or am I making a wrong assumption?  In the U.S. and (I think) Canada, we call that the closing day.

Are you all moving into the new house right away?  Waiting until after the wedding?  And/or have painting/renovations to do first?

  • So I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon.  And I was supposed to get blood work done, which meant I had to fast for 12 hours. I thought, no big deal, my appointment is at 4pm, I eat breakfast at 4am. Perfect. I was informed not five minutes ago that the lab had closed for the day and I had to come back Friday after another 12 hours of fasting.

Dudes. You guys knew the lab was closing. Why didn't you do the blood work first?????

    Hunger rage.

    GRRR.

I had blood work 2 weeks ago.  I ate at 5pm and then fasted until my 9:30am appt.   At 9:50 I went to them and said "I haven't eaten anything since 5pm yesterday.  Either take my blood now or I'm leaving!"     I was so grumpy.    They took me in right away.     There should be some law about making patients wait some 20+ while fasting!!!!
