Wedding Woes

Monday, Monday

Where is @mrsconn23 with the Monday post?  ::taps foot impatiently::

It rained all.weekend, which TBH pretty much matched my mood.  Wooz had playdates both days (our house Sat., friend's house yesterday).  Ran a couple of errands with the kids (separately).  We were going to hit the Thread Trail now that Wooz is confident on her new, bigger bike, but the weather quashed that.  I put in a new spice rack.  While Wooz was at her friend's and DS was napping yesterday, I polished the cabinets and sealed the granite.  Because I am a wild woman.

DH was awesome yesterday.  I've been waking up at like 4:00 and it sucks, because I fall asleep fine (because exhaustion), but when I wake up my mind starts racing.  He woke up Sunday morning and realized I was up, and he was so kind.  We talked, I cried, and he made me feel a lot better.

Traffic was awful this morning, but maybe the sun will come out.

Re: Monday, Monday

  • Friday night we celebrated K's birthday.  And then I spent most of the weekend recovering.  We were supposed to go to the march Saturday morning, but it woke us up at 10:30 and I just couldn't make it.  Then we saw Postmodern Jukebox.  It's a great show, lots of great musicians, a great host, and just a really good time.  Highly recommend.

    I am not ready for Monday though.

  • I had to go back to urgent care for more drugs Friday after work so now I'm on 'roids and codeine cough syrup. I told H not to mess with me or I'd mess him up!

    My BFF and I went to one of the smaller rallies around here Saturday. It was still 11k strong and her first. She cried (and she is not emotional) because she was so moved by the size of the crowd. It was awesome and I'm glad I made one, even though I knew I couldn't commit to the all day rally in our capitol.

    Yesterday MIL took us to dinner and we had a really nice time actually. She also spoiled us - way too much- and threatened to make a scene when we tried to pick up the bill. Hopefully the good mood continues. We have dinner at her sisters this Saturday for her birthday and she wants us to take her to the casino the weekend after for her "gift."  Her birthday is 4 days before mine which she hates so I'm guessing the random family dinner is because her sister knows between the wedding and this she's on the brink of a "it's not all about me" meltdown.

  • Morning ladies!

    Happy birthday @mrsconn23 !!
    Happy belated to K! @VarunaTT

    Low key weekend because I was sore.

    Friday I went for coffee with some friends. Haven't seen either of them since before holidays and we were suppose to get together the Tuesday I was sick, so obviously that cancelled.
    I told them what happened, and one of my friends wanted to go home and get her medical book to see more on what I have lmao {she's going thru medical reception basically - I'm gonna get her to type out what the book says}

    Anyways, after coffee we headed to Winners {TJ Maxx chain - Canadian version} and wandered around. After looking at home decor and baby stuff {how can I not!?} I confessed to one of my friends that M and I are probably TTC at end of summer. Ideal world, I'm able to tell my friend on her bday that she'll be an aunt :) {assuming it's close to when I can tell people}

    Afterwards I headed home and stopped at dollarama. I can't spend less than $20 in that store lmao! But got a lot of stuff.
    Walking home isn't far, but had to stop like 3x because I was sore. I sat in our mud room for awhile, and M ended up coming in to see if I was okay. He had friends over, or else I would have called him to pick me up {which he said he would have still done so even though they're over - it's a 2 min drive}

    Saturday rested most of the day. M went out later that night, and I pretty much stayed curled up since I was still sore. Told M I was sore and he told me that I should take it easier than I have been.

    Sunday I napped off and on because I had a headache. Idk if it's sinus or tension, but nothing was working and I started feeling sick {which got me worried because that's how my emerg visit started ...}

    Tonight is moving stuff around and vacuuming upstairs. Still working on getting that table cleared off .... it's taking foreverrrrrrr!
  • I spent Friday evening in the hospital. I'd been having contractions all day and they had progressed to the point that they were bringing tears to my eyes. I was dehydrated and had elevated BP. They rehydrated me and got my BP down and my contractions to weaken. The good news is I dilated to 3 in 2 days. I'm at work today to everyone's surprise.

    We got the nursery 95% finished this weekend; I just need to decorate. Yesterday was more contraction hell. I was already tired from not sleeping well, then every time I dozed off, I had a contraction wake me up.

    I actually slept well last night and have no big plans today.
  • @DrillSergeantCat  if you went into labour now, would everything be okay with both of you?
    Also .... WHY ARE YOU AT WORK!?
  • @DrillSergeantCat  if you went into labour now, would everything be okay with both of you?

    LOL. I'm at work because I only have like 12 hours of vacation and maternity leave is only 6-8 weeks (with 8 weeks being for c-section) so if I'm home without baby and run out of vacation time, I don't get to pay my bills.

    I'd definitely be okay. I'd probably have to get a steroid shot for her lungs, but usually at 36 weeks (I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow) she'll be fine too.
  • Morning!

    Happy happy birthday @mrsconn23!

    The weekend was really good. I got off work early and worked out. DH came home on Friday night and we snuggled up on the couch and watched Bar Rescue and Dr. Phil. DH loves watching Dr. Phil LOL.

    Saturday morning - BCBC (hallelujah!) and then Waffle house for some breakfast. We also got the oil changed in my car, which is entirely too expensive. DH left later that afternoon to go back to Atlanta. Saturday night I went to a local bar with my brother and his GF. We had some awesome drinks and really good food. It was fun.

    Sunday morning was church, lunch with friends, and a loooong nap. When I woke up, I worked out, vacuumed and steam mopped the house and did some dusting. Then I made a really yummy dinner - chicken, Brussels sprouts, and onions over spaghetti squash. I can already tell a huge difference in my energy level since I started working out. Some of my clothes are looser too :)

    Tonight, one of my best friends is bringing her daughters over for me to babysit for a couple of hours. They are awesome kids. We're going to make pizza and watch a movie. Her oldest daughter has been counting down for days :D

    DH was weird this weekend. Good weird, though. I've been worried that he'd never be as excited to start a family as me- I shared it in the Confessions post. Well, that seems to have totally changed. All weekend long he was talking about when we start a family. He was asking what kind of car I want to change to (my 2 door Honda Civic isn't gonna cut it), and he kept talking about "when we start a family". There was a dad with his son at Waffle House on Saturday morning, and he kept going on about how cute they were and how he wanted to be that kind of dad. Guess he's more ready than I thought :)

  • We got almost 3" of rain this weekend.  The backyard is a lake, the dogs look like Swamp Things, and the house smells marshy and like wet dog.  On the plus side, I was able to fall asleep every night to the sound of the rain, which was pure bliss.

    I overhauled our filing system into something that's hopefully more functional and also hopefully not just another ADHD mess like I feel like the rest of my life is becoming.  We tried to pick up the dog door, but apparently our Lowe's doesn't rent trucks, so after calling a U-haul about the availability of a truck, then driving all the way out to there to be told "No, actually, the truck isn't available," (then, "Wait, wait, we give you discount for bigger truck?"  Um, no.  Thanks for wasting everyone's time.) we trekked all the way out to HD, got there just minutes too late to get the truck, and called the day a wash.  Maybe it's better, given the state of our yard.

    DH got most of the new closet system up in the spare room, and once that's finished, I just have to finish re-reorganizing the craft supplies he reorganized for me once and put everything away.  I hate to admit that his system has a certain logic to it... but I still think it make more sense for paint brushes to go with the paint than with writing utensils.  And for the glue sticks to go with my other adhesives.

    Anyway, once all that's done, we can move the treadmill into the house and I can start running again.  I am seriously itching for a good run, but it's too dark all the time for me to get a safe run in after work.

    I feel like I wasted my weekend.

  • Happy Birthday, @mrsconn23
    @drillsergeantcat, the mat leave in America still gets on my nerves (and I don't have kids or plan on having any yet I feel for anyone who does! I know people who don't even get ANY mat leave! Why are we so behind in our times?)

    DH was home all day Saturday and we couldn't pick a movie to see (I will eventually have to see Rogue One UH!) so we stayed in and saw The Shining on netflix.  That movie was way better when I was younger.  It was a boring Saturday.  We bought the air fryer xl and pretty much air fried a bunch of foods. Tonight we try cheese sticks.

    Sunday I went to the blackhawks game, this is worth mentioning because in the last 6 games or so that I have been to they have lost every game.  When the Canucks came back and tied I held my breath.  I said O M G, they're going to lose and only because I was selfish and went to another game!  But then they came back and won within the last 10 minutes of the game. phew.  I broke my own hex! I can attend more games!

  • @CharmedPam It's abysmal. We're only one of two developed countries that don't have mandatory mat leave. I consider myself lucky that I can get short-term disability and only lose 1/3 of my pay.
  • Also, this is just me being a curmudgeon.  Wooz's school is doing a play.  They are having an "event" beforehand--separate, ticketed.  Wooz reeeeeeeallllly wanted to go to this event.  It's during DS's swim, but DH and I can divvy them up.  I just went to sign up on SignUpGenius, and one of my neighbors who I can't stand (just unfollowed her on FB) is going.  It's from 10:00-11:15, and the play itself starts at noon.  Do we really need to be there 45 minutes early for an elementary school play?  I'm bored just thinking about it.

    I think I'm going to stick DH with this one.
  • It rained a lot this weekend.  And got cold again last night through this morning.

    Did a Sam's Club/Walmart trip and have to complain.  One of my prescriptions went up 50 cents.  Not because the price went up, but because apparently now my state is taxing prescription medications.  My parish (county) already does.

    Obviously, it's not the 50 cents.  Though I do have more expensive prescriptions where it will be 10 bucks more now.  It's the principle of it.  What kind of vile, monster f**kwads tax prescription medication?  The money grubbing, "on the take" vile politicians of my state, that's who.  But, really, it's necessary (sarcasm).  They have to find some way to replace all the money that "disappears" into their pockets from the city's normal income streams.

    And, oh yeah, food essentials...like milk, bread, baby formula...are taxed here also.  I've heard stories of many parts of the country not having a sales tax on food.  But I wouldn't know anything about that.

    All right.  Off my rant.

    @mrsconn23, happy birthday!  @VarunaTT's K, happy birthday!

    @thefanciestbeckler, Yay for your H becoming excited for TTCing.

    @DrillSergeantCat, OMG, good luck for when you go into labor.  Many wishes and prayers for a healthy and happy baby and mom.

  • The weekend was busy. Saturday am Dh took 6let to a party the next ran a bunch of errands. I took the other two to make some crafts.  On the way home m2 said her threat hurt but then she was fine. We played outside until dinner. She took 2 bites of spaghetti and started crying because her throats hurt.

    Off to to urgent care. 1 minute into the strep test it popped up positive. Since its after 7 by now I have to drive further away for an open pharmacy. At leas there was one. If we were still in bfe I don't know what we'd have done.

    Sunday we we took it easy. M2 watched movies, I worked, the boys played outside.

    I have somuch much work to do it's ridiculous.

    I also think Paternity leave should have a 2nd look.
    Absolutely should. It's important for mom to have the support needed those first few weeks too. I'm lucky my H is taking two weeks of vacation to be with us.
  • I'm exhausted and cranky today. It's cold and raining here, and I have a crap ton of work. H is in a mood because the Steelers lost (and played terribly).

    I have a bad case of the Mondays.
  • With 6let DH took 2 days off. I was taking a call 2 wks postpartum.

    With Max DH got 6 wks paid paternity leave.
  • Speaking of maternity/paternity leave, I think US needs to step up their game and be like Canada.

    Maternity leave - 1 year. If mother and father want to split, that is do-able. E.I is 60% of the income while off.

    Paternity leave isn't same at all jobs, but with M's job they give the dad 1-2 weeks off. Any more and it has to be saved from vacation time.

    That would be great. At this point, I'd take 12 weeks paid leave.

    It's definitely appalling how the maternity leave is in the states. When I was born, the norm was 3 months {12 weeks}

    @DrillSergeantCat I've been raging silently over here for you.  I hope you're able to stay comfortable, safe and healthy from here until labor.

    ETA - obviously after too, but you know what I mean.

    I literally just hit send on a text to my friend that said "Martha Focker" as I was in the midst of yet another contraction. I have a feeling the OB may do a sweep Wednesday. I can't do 4 more weeks of this.

    Giggling :P

    And hopefully OB does a sweep, that sounds horrible
  • What's a sweep?
    I'm assuming it is when the doctor "sweeps" their fingers around the cervix. It can sometimes start things moving. It isn't painful. My ob/gyn did that with my 3rd - went into labor the next day.

    Yep. That's it. It separates the bag from the cervix without actually breaking it. She tried to do one at this point when I was pregnant with Mouse, but I hadn't dilated at all.
  • Happy happy happy belated birthday, @mrsconn23! I am behind in everything this week and am trying frantically to catch up ;-)
