Wedding Woes

Friday

It's finally Friday and I feel like this week dragged on!  My job is having jeans days, every Friday - all summer, and I remembered this week!  So that's a plus already.

H got the lawn done pretty quickly last night, but was too tired to go out for dinner.  So I went down there and picked up.  I also picked us up a chocolate milkshake to share, since H worked so hard on the lawn!  Yay us!

I was able to get all of the dishes done after dinner, so I was able to relax and take my time this morning once H left with DD.

This weekend I have u2 Sunday night and I can't wait!  They are doing the Joshua Tree Album and its just one of their most amazing albums, so I am pretty excited!

And obviously its father's day and H's first.  I felt bad not being around in the evening for his day, but he didn't care about me being gone when I asked him about the concert.  So Saturday will be his big dinner.  I will also make him a nice breakfast on Sunday morning.

We also have a BBQ to attend on Saturday.  So we will be busy bees!

Sounds like a busy weekend! A chocolate shake sounds so good right now...

My mom is coming to visit this weekend. H and I have some house projects we want to get done, so she's going to watch babybelle while we git'r'done (hopefully).

For Father's Day, we are doing a "Tour de Donuts" where we basically do a local donut shop crawl for breakfast. I am decidedly WAY more excited about this than I should be.

  • Have a great weekend @OliveOilsMom, sounds like a ton of fun!

Going back to the doctor today, pretty sure hand is infected. It's so damn hard getting in to see a primary care provider (hell I can't even get in to see a doctor, but I'm happy I can see the CNP). Even with a referral from the urgent care provider, symptoms suggesting an infection even though I'm on antibiotics, it still took answering questions from 3 people to get in to see someone before next Tuesday evening. Before they agreed to see me today they suggested "keep an eye on it and if it gets worse over the weekend you might have to go to the ER". Umm, no that's what I'm trying to avoid.

And this is in a city. I can't imagine what it's like trying to get an appointment in a rural area.

Dinner ER with the inlaws tomorrow night. And H has a second interview on Wednesday!
  • Charlotte - I hope your hand gets better and can begin the healing process quickly!

Southern - A donut tour sounds amazing!  I might need to steal that idea next year!

  • TGIFFF. Thought this day would never come.

@OliveOilsMom that is so awesome you are going to U2!!!!! They are playing up here next weekend, but H didn't want to get tickets for fear that I would be uncomfortable. :-/

@charlotte989875 I hope your hand feels better!!

Today I am wrapping up a few things for a prospective new client and then hopefully leaving early. The last few days I have planned to leave early, but then ended up leaving around 5:15, 5:30, so today - for real this time - I am actually going to leave early.

This weekend I am taking my dad to lunch for Father's Day. H doesn't know what he wants to do for Father's Day, so I am trying to convince him that we should go out to dinner.

Tomorrow H is doing stuff for his dad, so I am going to lunch with a friend of mine and perhaps doing some shopping.

I'm totally robbing Peter to pay Paul at work lately. I'm so far behind on some stuff that whenever someone asks for XYZ it gets moved to the top of the pile to get it done so it doesn't look like I'm behind.

No big plans for the weekend. H has been gone all week and was briefly back last night but then will be gone all day today until late. Guess I should figure out something for father's day for him but I'm not that motivated.
  • Thanks everyone!

Seriously tour of donuts sounds ridiculously amazing @southernbelle0915
  • @OliveOilsMom, enjoy the U2 concert!

@southernbelle0915, a "doughnut tour" sounds...amazing! I'd like one right now.  For a "breakfast dessert", now that I finished my breakfast burrito, lol.

@charlotte989875, I hope everything goes well at the doctor.  So awful!  Congrats to your H on his second interview!  (crossing fingers)

@sparklepants41, you should get out early today!  If I remember from your post from yesterday, everybody else has bailed out today.  Did your one coworker call in a fake sick day or show up, lol?

I'm actually excited about my day.  I haven't played video poker in forever, but I have $35 in slot play waiting for me and I am raring to go take advantage.  Of course, what will really happen is the casino will take advantage of me, lol.  But I'm still looking forward to some game time after a long hiatus.

However, before I settle in at a machine, I have a nearby mystery shop for lunch at a super delicious Mexican restaurant.  Mmmm...al pastor burrito and a side of guac and chips.

I also have to fit in some grocery shopping somewhere.  Meh.  But the puppers is down to half a bowl of food, so it is becoming dire, lol.  I keep teasing her that she just needs to stop eating for a few days.

  • H gets home this evening - yay because the dogs have been driving me bonkers waking up too early. Need to bake some cookies to take up to Chicago this weekend. Other than that not much going on.

    Get out early today @sparklepants41.
Hope your hand feels better soon @charlotte989875!
  • @OliveOilsMom  my MIL and sFIL first dance song was "Beautiful Day" by U2 :) And honestly, neither M nor I are huge fans but we agree that Joshua Tree was their best.

@southernbelle0915  donut crawl sounds amazing and you should be excited! lol

Has anyone had an ingrown hair or pimple on their armpit? How did you tell the difference and how did you deal? I'm not sure which I have but it hurts and it needs to go away.

Last night I wasn't Kitty, I was a damn LION! RAWR!!
I cleared up our yard! The tree that's right beside our backdoor is likely coming down, but until we do that I had to trim it right the fuck back.

Then I started on weeding around bleeding hearts. Poor things looked like they were being invaded, so I got them some good space
AND THEN I DISCOVERED WE HAVE A GIANT RAGWEED PATCH!!

I showed M - who was more on standby since he was going out, but needed him to get tops of the trees - and then he noticed my arms were splotchy. Glad I picked up gloves!

I took out a good chunk of our wild flowers. We're going to be getting rid of where they are, so I wasn't upset.
THEY WERE ATTACHED AT ONE GIANT DAMN ROOT!!!

Anyways, afterwards I showered {needed it} and it was later in the evening I discovered weird pain in my armpit.
There's a bump this morning, but neither M nor I could figure it out. I may put a warm cloth on it to get whatever it is out.
Since I just shaved there, I'm guessing ingrown hair but idk.

Tonight my friend is coming over for dinner and to hang out. It's rainy and crappy out, so our original plan of Glow Fair had to be scrapped.
It's cool though. Haven't seen her in a bit :)

Saturday - was gonna go to a museum, but since we're having outlets done in the basement I feel we should clean. There's a time limit we have lol
I'll probably suggest a movie - M wants to watch Finding Dory lol - and chill.

Sunday - up in the air. I'm seeing my mum but idk what we're doing.
  • @MissLIONDanger, woo hoo!  Sounds like a lot of progress made!  I don't have any advice for your armpit.  Hopefully the annoying bump goes away soon.

I'm lucky that my H does all the yardwork, gardening, and occasional tree trimming.  He enjoys the gardening part of it.  I want none of it, lol.

    hahaha ilu! <3

Oh jeez the disaster it was! I'll post pictures tonight because mobile hates me.
I've never been for or against gardening - honestly I've never done it before so we'll see. Seems like a lot of work to start up though :(
  • @short+sassy he actually showed up today! But he announced he is leaving at 3 to "run an errand." LOL I have an "errand" to run as well. It's called the go home and take a nap on the couch errand.

BTW your lunch of chips and guac sounds perfect right now. mmmmm
  • mmm tour du donuts sounds amazing.
@oliveoilsmom, yes that album IS good.  Enjoy the concert!
@Misskittydanger, good job! I'm like, super lazy.  Want to come over and clean up my yard?  I'll even pay you.

Tonight is a bbq with friends we haven't seen in awhile.  I can't wait to see her 6 month old.  She's such a cutie and loves her aunty Pam (I love kids who love me).  Tomorrow I'm getting some stuff for my garden (chairs shipped today, yay!) and then we're going to see "Chicago" again at our local theater, but this time with some friends of ours. Sunday I have a lunch date with another friend.  Basically it's "get together with all my friends" weekend.

  • @CharmedPam  hahahaha .... how bad is it? ;) I don't mow lawns or weed whack. They scare me. But I can yank and cut stuff like a beast ;)

    There's some weeds, yeah :)

I have a professional mower, but all they do is mow.  they give me quotes to trim hedges, clean up weeds and all that and maybe I should invest in one clean up per year, but I like when my money goes to vacations and food and not my lawn, which I dont' really care about as long as I maintain the homeowners' standards (<---- should never have been a homeowner)

  • Infection and possible tendon damage with a side of not closing properly.

Im taking the rest of the afternoon off and going to have a cocktail on my porch.
  • Sorry Charlotte.  Healing wishes and vibes for you!
  • ha.  There was a poll on nextdoor about the best donuts in our area and I voted "speedway" as in the gas station.  You get them right off the truck fresh at 3:00 a.m. - brilliant.

I'll let y'all know how the donut crawl goes. Some guy at my office brings in donuts every other Thursday and they are SO good - that was the inspiration.

Now that we have a kid, we are up at 6am on Sunday mornings. Pretty much the only places open are donut & coffee shops. :D So we'll get our Father's Day event done while babybelle is in good spirits and before it gets hot! If it goes well, we may make it a tradition...next year could be ice cream, maybe tacos, maybe sliders, BBQ....but food. Always food.

we are also often at the donut shop on the weekends and one of the first I'm sure

  • @charlotte989875 hugs and healing vibes for you! Get some rest and have two cocktails! I mean, alcohol kills germs, right?

  • I'm so sorry about your hand @charlotte989875. Last night was a ton of fun. We went to a throwback 90's concert with SO's siblings. I drank a little more than I should have, but I'm not too bad today. I wanted to stay out all night but I'm glad SO made us go home at 11:30. We might go see Wonder Woman tonight.

  • Happy Fri-Yay!

Tomorrow's going to be busy. In the morning, I'm going to help with bingo at a nursing home. After that, I'm going to my Humanist group. Last of all is my new writing group.

Sunday, FW and I are going to my parents' for Fathers' Day. I still need to get something for my Dad, but he's easy to shop for. He says, "If I can't eat it, drink it, smoke it, or wear it, I don't want it." Last year, I deviated from that and got him "Firefly" on DVD; he likes Westerns, so I thought he might like it. It made my Mom happy; she likes Nathan Fillion.

Monday, I get to start my vacation by taking the car into the shop. Nothing major, just an oil change and a couple bulbs that need to be replaced. I'll bring a book with me.

Oh, and the additional housemate is a go. The four of us had dinner tonight, and we all got a really good vibe from her. Part of my plans for the week include clearing out the spare room, moving furniture around, and shopping for a futon.
