Heavy Hors d'oeuvres style wedding

What is the right time for a heavy Hors d'oeuvres style wedding?

Re: Heavy Hors d'oeuvres style wedding

  • 2-4pm or after 8pm. Steer clear of anything beginning from 4:30-7:30
  • Well, if the heavy hors d'oeuvres can be done during dinner if there is enough food to be considered a meal.  We are talking about 15-17+ pieces of food per person.

Otherwise stay away from meal times.  In my world that would be from 4:30-8pm.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Cocktail hours in my circle have passed apps as well as stations- pizza/garlic knots, seafood, various pastas, carving, potato bar, fruits/veggies/hummus, sliders and mini hotdogs.  We're always full when it's time to sit down to dinner.  If this is what you're envisioning, dinner time is fine.  If it's just going to be passed apps, I agree with @KahluaKoala 2-4 makes sense.
  • 5-9 p.m is ok....
[Removed for ToS violation] for my daily food diets :p
