Wedding Woes

Thursday?

Anyone here?  Hello-o-o?

One more day 'til the weekend.  I'm ready.

SSDD

Prudie coming up.  ;)

Re: Thursday?

  • My weekend starts tomorrow.  I finished up the investigation that was due tomorrow yesterday, so at this point I'm able to work on the stuff that I feel is important and not worry about imminent deadlines.

We're dogsitting this weekend, and it's been a while so I can't wait to see how the Dork reacts.

  • I'm still trying to get used to our new platform at work.  It took me entirely too long to figure out how to read document names!  The system defaults to document numbers, which don't help at all because it give no info about the document!  Ugh!

The heat broke overnight and its gorgeous out today!  I might actually take a walk at lunch!

Prudie day and one more day of work until the weekend!

  • SSDD for me too.  Nothing new here.

Last night my doctor pissed me off.  She said she was going to send a clearance of surgery note to my surgeon and when I followed up with her. Nope. She's not.  She needs to see me and she needs me to see an endocrinologist before she does.  That's not what she told me in the office visit that I went there specifically for.  I actually am going back to my old doctor, despite her moving further out.

But I also got into thinking about another alternative.  I didnt look into it before because I was always told insurance doesn't cover gastric balloons.  Well, mine does.  Should have made that call a year ago, but I didn't.  Only thing is, it's only stopping you from eating a lot for 6 months.  When they take it out, you're able to eat normal portions again. I need to find a message board for balloon users to see the success rate.  I'd rather have the balloon because it's less invasive, no hospital stay, way less recovery time....and actually since it's covered by insurance way way cheaper.  But why go through that if I just end up being hungry still 6 months later?  I still want the sleeve because it's permanent but my doctor is blocking the procedure and extending it out right now. Going to see if the new "old" doc will provide me with the note.

    anyway, there's my vent.

  • Prudie day!

Im going to the gym with a friend, and then I'm maybe getting my nails done and going to the chiropractor. I drank too much iced tea too late last night so I didn't get much sleep. I work all weekend, so that's a bummer, but at least I have next weekend off.

@MissKittyDanger I wasn't around yesterday to say it, but congratulations!!!

  • hiiiiii....
I know I don't post much on the daily updates.... I hope I can still come and play!

I'm SO ready for the weekend and hope I can actually enjoy it.  I've been home sick the last 2 weekends.  This teaching thing does a nasty number on your health!  Last Thursday, I had 8 students absent & had 9 out on Friday.  I don't know for sure that it's all illness, but it sure seems like it.  I'm not usually a germophobe, but I've been wiping down everything with Chlorox wipes.  Ugh.

And I'm starting to feel icky again ... :(
  • Not much today; work, workout, work. Can't wait until the weekend. That's pretty much my life now. The heat wave also broke here, so I'm hoping that means H is less cranky. He's been in a mood all week, so I'm hoping this helps.
  • @6fsn, I so agree!

I didn't even look at the price or the size of the shoes. they did do a 3D image of my feet. They could skip that part for the jeans.

    Yup I'd pay for that.
  • @6fsn yeeeeees.  I swear I expand a size when I sit down! and the jean sag after walking.  Don't even get me started!
@oliveoilsmom, anything new takes me forever to relearn. And office-suite is no exception.  Whenever i get familiar with it -boom.  new version.
@holyguacamole79, sorry about the last few weekends.  That's a bummer!  we're allowed to work from home when we're sick, so I prefer being sick from Monday through Friday only.

  • There was a denim miracle. I walked into kohls with $20 cash. Found a pair of jeans for $36
  • @6fsn jeans rec - they're a bit pricey, but extremely comfortable, fit well, and don't sag/gap. I got this pair a few months ago, and ordered a few more during a recent sale. One came yesterday, and also fits very well. I got the plus, but the Wit & Wisdom brand has sizes 0-24, and Nordstrom has free shipping both ways if you don't want to deal with going to a store.

  • @Barbie- I'm actually ok with $68 for jeans if they fit well.  I want a boot cut.  I'm also kind of liking the ankle twill pants for $34.  Now for the sizing crap....
  • Happy Thursday everyone! One day closer to freedom lol.
I was not around yesterday but congratulations @MissKittyDanger!!! This must be so exciting for you.
@holyguacamole79 sending healthy vibes for you and hope you feel better soon.
@CharmedPam that must be so frustrating, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will like the balloon option and that would be easier money wise and getting it signed off.

Not much has been going on lately. Work is the same drag it has been, it's been so slow!! I'm actually hoping people will need me lol. I actually have a full 3 days off this weekend! I'm so excited, I don't know when the last time I even had a weekend off was. Now I'm trying to plan fabulous things to do. Saturday night I'm going to the casino with my FI and my family so that should be fun! Other than that I've got nothing so I need to figure it out asap :D
  • @short+sassy that's hilarious! Something similar happened to us the other day. I was mad that SO wasn't replacing the toilet paper, and he was annoyed at me. We finally figured out that Jack has been taking it off the holder!

  • Thanks guys.  I'm thinking of making an apt with the gastroenterologist just to see my options. I may not even be a candidate.

LOL @short+sassy, you have one smart kitty for sure.  I'm sure she likes being enclosed.  My dog loves to be under blankets and beds too.
Enjoy your 3 day weekend @lala9414!

  • @6fsn  i got the bootcut in the recent sale, but they're not set to deliver until tomorrow. i'm going to say they run true to size - but since they have some stretch, you may be able to go down a size. I'd get them in a couple of sizes and just send back whatever you don't want. I'm not always a fan of skinny jeans, but these fit so well that i love them.
  • Thanks, everyone!
@short+sassy , I saw my ENT last week (she said it's a sinus infection) and she commented that with all the moisture in the air and the mold from Harvey, there have been so many more people getting sick.  I started feeling achey and chills right before lunch.  I wasn't running a fever, so I'm toughing it out for today before I go home and cry.  One more hour .......
  • @holyguacamole79 a good family friend in FL who had no power for about a week after Irma and a day or two after the power came back she started to get super sick.  She also has sinus issues and part of the theory is that the air post storm plus no AC meant that anyone with sinus issues could be getting sick.

DH and I were hoping to take the kids to the Big E Saturday and now it looks like rain.  Bah!

I saw a link about a really cool dinner that you can do in Disney that basically has you stopping along the monorail resorts and concludes with fireworks.   We have no trip planned at all but the last big vacation DH and I took for the two of us was a 3 day trip for our minimoon 10 years ago.   Every other trip we've taken has been FOR something or with kids.  I'm ready for a grown up vacation again and in a year or so we should be able to be in a position where we can leave the kids.

DH's response to me sending that link was, "We can do Disney and cheese at home..."   I know he said it to be an ass but well, he was an ass.   I need to make myself clear that in the next year we should do this and I want him to make my desire a priority for him.   I made his desire for a sports car and a boat something that we prioritized and well, flippant responses make me want to flip him.

I didn’t properly congratulate you yesterday, @MissKittyDanger! All the positive vibes coming your way!

Love the stories about smart pets. I bought the cats a Donald Trump doll for Christmas, and they’ve dunked him in the water dish at least twice, sent him down the stairs to get stepped on, you name it. The two younger ones also beat him up on a regular basis. Mutt usually eats stuffed toys (I have a few sentimental ones that are now permanent residents of the linen closet because of this), so it’s got to be the cats.

SSDD at work today, but my friend who had knee surgery got cleared to leave her apartment for more than doctor’s appointments, so I got to take her to our meditation meeting tonight. Housemate #1 (Housemate #2 got her own place) has been taking care of our friend when she’s not in class, and our friend is insisting that she can manage on her own and Housemate should come home. Yay! She’s only been five minutes away, but I still miss having her around.
  • @ourwildkingdom, housemate 2 has her own place already?  Was she only there a month or two?

Correct. She moved in at the beginning of July. She got a job where she travels a lot, so she wasn’t around much anyway.
