Wedding Woes

Tuesday?

Well, yesterday sucked.  :(  I blared the crap out of Petty last night and this morning.

I managed to gash my foot because I was taking trash out without shoes on and the storm door snapped back on my foot before I cleared it.   DH was also making me cranky last night.

I had to go get bloodwork this morning.  DefConn was all, "I want to come with you!"  I said, "Um, mama's getting a needle stuck in her arm.  Want one too?"  He opted for school. ;)

I did channel my inner-millenial and made avocado toast with bacon for breakfast. It was delish.

What's up in your world?

Re: Tuesday?

  • I'm too bummed about he world for Petty music today.

Big work event that I'm facilitating tomorrow so crazy day getting last minute details done. I stayed up way too late last night and now I'm exhausted. On to a second cup of coffee (by cup I mean mug).
  • @mrsconn23 one of the classic rock stations have had a marathon of Petty :(
    Owch though!

    Weekend was good. We almost didn't tell M's mum and stepdad because they heard bad news, but M wanted to tell them something positive {I giggled when he said that and he didn't get the irony for a bit lmao}
His mum didn't scream. She cried lol his stepdad is hesitant - like M - because it's so early. Again, he'd just heard bad news so also in an odd mindset. I think once things progress he'll be more excited.

We've opted to wait to tell our grandparents until we get heartbeat so there's something definitive to show them.
Thanksgiving is coming up and I half don't wanna go to M's family because we can't tell them and it is killing me!

Drive to the wedding - which was near Albany, NY - was amazing. We went thru the Adirondacks and we had perfect weather for it!
The wedding was outside, and despite it being chilly it was really lovely. Bride always dreamed of getting married outside, and the venue was pushing to move it inside since it was chilly. It was short, and they provided shawls in case people were cold. It wasn't that bad.

I ate a lot of really heavy things, so I had a lot of indigestion. Now that I'm back to normal eating, I'm feeling better.

    Tonight is my dr's appt. Telling her and likely getting set up for blood work. I've been trying to be good on salty foods, but omg so much want lol! I promised myself I'd behave until I could speak to my dr about it. I don't wanna over do it {typical first time mother obviously lol}

When is your Thanksgiving? You're in Canada right? You should be able to hear a HB soon. DD is going through fertility treatments and one of the confirmation appointments would be checking for a HB at around 4-6 weeks (I think). LOL she said she isn't going to tell us until that appointment but if I don't get a no after the 2 week blood work I'll know the blood work is positive. She has been keeping me informed at every step.

No volunteering today. Office is closed. I'm picking up the lights for our master bath - so excited! I'm also going by our jeweler to check out replacing a pair of diamond hoop earrings I've lost! UGH! I have looked everywhere for them and called places where I might have taken them off. Nada! They aren't huge, and I wore them a lot. They are insured, but depending on how much it will cost to replace them I may not file a claim.
  • @ILoveBeachMusic Thanksgiving is this weekend. I'll only be 5 weeks by Friday. Depending on the dr, depends on heartbeat. Might do it by 7 weeks {closer to end of month}
Vibes for your daughter though! :)
  • I am just all around PO'ed today and am in a funk.  I guess nothing too major in the grand scheme of things, but the 1st falling on a Sunday has royally screwed up the majority of my monthly income.  NOTHING has been on time and a number of income sources are lagging even harder than I had expected.  Mostly tenants whose rent is due on the 1st and rely on bank deposits/gov't checks/etc., but even my p/t job direct deposit is coming in at least TWO days later than usual.  I was expecting it today (one day late), but it was not there.

@MissKittyDanger, thanks for reminding me about Canadian T-day.  Which is also a bank holiday in the U.S. (Columbus Day).  I better have ALL my money before then!  Or it's yet one more non-banking and non-mail day and now we are 1/3rd into the month.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yeah.  And my latest insulin shipment was stuck in customs for 10 days.  And by "stuck in customs", what that really means is it got thrown somewhere and ignored for days on end.  Until I sent an e-mail yesterday asking where is my package?  Nobody from USPS replied back yet.  But I saw that my package "magically" started moving again, smh.

I usually never even see where it goes to Customs, because it is in/out the same day it arrives at a USPS sorting facility.  But the other 3x this has happened, I'm given some song and dance of, "Sorry, we can't control how long it is in Customs.  We don't know anything about the package while it is there."  So I'll put a claim in that it's "lost".  Mmm...hmmm.  And my package is magically "found"...oh, but they want me to believe it was just in Customs this whole time...and it starts moving again the very next day.  Every.Single.Time.  Yeah.  That's some coincidence//sarcasm.

Oh, and did I mention that this is an Int'l Priority shipment because it is preferred the contents stay refrigerated?  Riiigggghhhht.  I absolutely despise the US Postal service.  For a lot of reasons, even outside of these issues.

I just hope there is now enough time for it to get to me before the weekend.  Or the holiday will delay my shipment even further.

  • @short+sassy  what money are you waiting on? I must have missed something!
  • I'm here today and was able to lurk yesterday.  Work has been busy.

The weekend was nice.  H worked on Saturday, so MIL came over to watch DD while I was at yoga.  Afterwards, it was just us and I was working on my friend's cake for her birthday party on Sunday.  DD was cooperative for the most part!  LOL!  I was really able to finish up the cake after dinner once H was home and able to help keep DD entertained better!

Sunday was friend's party.  She was surprised!  No one told her sister and parents about the surprise party until the day before - BECAUSE they would have ruined the surprise.  So they were a little bent out of shape!  They didn't stay too long, which was ok with my friend because they were apparently giving her crap about them not knowing about the SURPRISE party.

I think I mentioned how we had a swing for DD and it broke.  I also found a similar one on craigslist nearby for cheap!  H insisted on getting new batteries to try the swing out one more time before we trashed it.  Thank goodness because it was a connection issue!  He changed the batteries and it worked.  He saw a battery slip and it stopped working!  So we just need to put some foam in with the batteries to keep them from slipping!  We know have 2 swings!  1 for upstairs and one for down! LOL!

Sparkle - Sorry for your loss

MrsConn  - Yay for MrConn coming on vacay and getting it paid!  LOL at DefConn and the needle!

My heart hurts for Vegas.  When will enough be enough?  Sadly, after Sandy Hook - I don't think Congress will ever commit to common sense gun laws.

Sad about Tom Petty too.  One of the best concerts I've ever been to was his in the early 2000s.

  • Happy Tuesday, all.  My boss send me home, because I am to sick to be in the office.  It's complete BS (not being in the office, but my body) because I don't cough at home and then I get into the office and can't stop for some reason!  Honestly, their air ducts have got to be alot cleaner than mine, and yet I'm completely OK at home and have coughing fits at work.  Thankfully, it's not docked and I'm WFH.

@misskittydanger, yeah, even though I'm Canadian when you said "thanksgiving" I was still thinking - but man, you got like another 2 months yet! LOL.  I SO want to go to the Adirondacks.  Hear nothing but good from them.
@mrsconn23, your front door is MY front door.  I constantly scrape my heel on mine.  It shuts so fast.
@short+sassy, hope you get your money in this week!  booo to your delivery.
@sparklepants41, sorry about your loss :(

  • I'm obsessed with avocado toast.

im 99% sure they fired someone yesterday since I'm being asked to move all of his accounts to other people. Nobody has flat out said it though.

Dh Dh is trying to buy a car and he's driving me a little nuts about it

dishwasher repair guy called today because he can't seem to find the error code my dishwasher is showing. He comes tomorrow but I don't have high hopes for a repair. At least it's under warranty?

I slow jogged 3 miles today. Didn't stop once so I'm proud. I probably could have walked it faster though.

  • @levioosa It was my first time, so I was so excited that we had great weather :)
  • @CharmedPam I keep forgetting you're Canadian lmao! Yeh that's always why I reiterate Canadian Thanksgiving ;) If it was American, I'd just announce then since it's end of November lmao
  • @southernbelle0915 M just recently learned how bad things are for pregnant women and he's appalled. I wish things were better for you ladies :(
  • BIL wants to buy the car we were going to trade in.  Given SIL's recent shenanigans, I'm leery.  I'd love to help BIL out, but his wife is making me nervous.
  • I was home last week with a sick baby who had hand foot mouth disease. He gave it to me over the weekend and I've been dealing with painful bumps on my hands and mouth and now feet today. Yuck!

I would not do it without a cashier's check wherein you (well, DH) go to the bank and watch it be processed.
  • @mrsconn23 I'm frankly more concerned that something happens to the car or to her in the car and she tries to sue us.  We don't swim in money, but $2700 won't break us and I'd be willing to write it off to save family (well BIL family, she can bugger off).
  • Happy Tuesday! I was here friday but TK kept logging me out while I was trying to post. I gave up after the 5th time lol. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm devastated about what happened in Vegas, I had family out on the strip and a friend who was at work. It was just all around scary.

Weekend was good for the most part. Friday after work FI went out to dinner at our fav Mexican place, I was a happy camper. Then we went to visit his parents and stayed for a bit. We got home slightly late, I was ready to leave 30 min after we got there. I have a love/"semi-dislike" relationship with his mom lol she has 3 boys and my FI is her first born so she loves me one minute and then the next I'm horrible. Needles to say I like to limit my interactions with her :D

Saturday morning I did a whole lotta nothing, which was amazing. Saturday night my family all went to the casino for a bingo night and I almost won 3 different rounds, like my last number was next call but then someone else would get bingo. I was so FRUSTRATED lol played with my emotions. FI lost his wallet after bingo while we went down to play slots so that kinda killed the night since he was in a baaad mood after that. We got home super late and my pup was crying since she missed us lol. Sunday and yesterday was a lot of time in the kitchen meal prepping and cleaning up. Today I'm back at work so SSDD

    Dear lord, she's the worst
  • @short+sassy  what money are you waiting on? I must have missed something!

All my rents for the 1st.  No one has paid yet.  One tenant is "new".  Not a new tenant, but she is on a housing assistance program that previously paid 100% of her rent.  This is the first month she has to pay the majority.  Two years ago, her portion was $100/month and she would mail me a money order.  So I'm assuming she did the same thing this time.  Another tenant is sometimes on time/sometimes pays a few days late.

The last tenant I'm referring to actually rents the other half of my duplex.  Is ALWAYS late because, supposedly, they are waiting for rent from their tenant where they used to live.  Usually just a few days but, if I don't have it by Fri., I know I am not getting it until Tues.

My H and I have been suspicious about that.  We'd swear they've told us, in the past, that they sold that house.  And, quite frankly, they make enough money with their jobs to pay the rent just fine without their tenant's rent.  I'm familiar, in general, with their bills and income.  They shouldn't have any problem with their basic living expenses.  But they're the kind of people who live paycheck to paycheck because it's like they can't help but p**s their money away.

AND my p/t job (grumble, grumble, grumble).  I'd be surprised if it isn't in my account tomorrow.  But then, it should have been there today.

So that's more of my rant, lol.

@levioosa, thanks.  I haven't run out of insulin yet and I should be fine.  My last order and this order were bought "in bulk".  The (sometimes) long delivery time being one of the reasons.  Worst case scenario, I can go back to cheaper, old fashioned insulin to tide me over.  R insulin instead of the quick acting.  And I've been forced to do that a couple times.  But it's a different regime that isn't my "norm", so my blood sugar isn't as controlled when I have to temporarily go back to "R".

  • Day two at work and I'm still having fun!  I'm following up on a handful of leads, trying to put together pricing for our Basic Bitch wedding venue that is competitive (and dare I say profitable) and learning a new computer and company's way of doing things.  These guys keep everything on a shared server, which makes sense, but also is very different from my 10 years old muscle memory system.

I'm thinking of paying someone to paint our hideous kitchen cabinets and I'd like to paint the kitchen (currently Home Depot Orange) the middle shade of green like in this pillow...so white or gray cabinets?

  • trying again-

LV- I can't watch or read the news right now. Makes me too sad and angry. This shit has to stop.

Snuggling at home today- baby N got his first round of vaccines and I got my flu shot so we are just snuggling on the couch today.

@MissKittyDanger why are you so focused on limiting your salt intake? I've never heard people really focus on that.  Too bad Tgiving is this weekend- if it were next and you had an appt next week, you'd most likely hear a heartbeat. If you went this week you'd see it moving, just no sound from it yet. I'm always surprised when people share so early, but I think my history just makes me jaded.

So far, so good on the new job!

Haha, the interior of my house is painted that color of green, though a few shades lighter.

I think either gray or white cabinets would look good with that color.  While I assume you are thinking of a light gray, the white will still be a bigger light/dark contrast.  If resale value is a thought, definitely go with white.  It's, by far, the most popular color for kitchen cabinets.

With all that said, white is my  personal least favorite color for kitchen cabinets, lol.  If it was my kitchen, I'd go with gray, as long as I wasn't planning to sell my house anytime soon.  But I fully own that is 100% personal opinion, lol.

Edited to add:  I see you are going to hire someone to paint the cabinets.  Good call!  My H has painted cabinets for 5 different kitchens.  But that is because we are more cheap than wise, lol.  It's a lot of work and very time consuming.

  • @redwoodoriginal Mainly because that's allllll I want. I don't typically eat a lot of salt in general so it would be a big deal on my system. I know it's mainly just me being paranoid, but I also feel I'd rather be careful than be sorry. You know?
  • I’d go with white cabinets thinking of resale since gray is a trend although if you plan to stay a while it might not matter
  • @kimmiinthemitten I'm gonna vote white despite how much I enjoy grey. Unless you can find a middle ground, very light grey that could be more of a white tinge.

I wouldn't want to sell a used car to a friend or family member.  Cars can be finicky and I just wouldn't want to be in a position of selling my car to someone I know, only to have something go wrong with it.  It's a recipe for hard feelings.

That goes double for your SIL.  Who seems...how can I put this nicely...crazy pants and greedy, lol.

  • Got picked for a jury on a criminal case. Went upstairs to the courtroom to find out they got a resolution on the case. Back in the jury pool till tomorrow. They get a new group on Wednesdays, so I might be done after tomorrow.

I read “Rules for Radicals” by Saul Alinsky and spent too much time on my phone. Tomorrow I’m bringing a charger.

Volunteering at the food bank tonight with my Humanist group, then taking Housemate to get her things from our friend’s house.
