Save the dates Magnet or Card??

Hello!
I am buying my save the dates hopefully tonight. I am wondering if anyone thinks Magnets are better/worse than a Save the date card?
On the magnet I cannot add "Invitation to follow" anywhere because there is not enough text space on the one I like best. I wanted to add my website on the save the date as well but I am not sure if that is tacky ?

I am wondering if I should just opt for a card, I am sure people won't keep our magnet for years to come on their fridge and will toss it out so I am not sure if it is worth it ..?

Quick side note , My MIL and SIL are curious why Save the Dates are necessary, I said it is a courtesy to make arrangements, right?

You are all correct . Save the Dates (STDs) are NOT necessary at all. Many couples don't send them (I didn't). But, especially if you have a lot of OOT guests, they can give people more time to make travel arrangements.

With that said, if most of your guests are going to be local, I personally wouldn't even spend the extra money to send STDs. But there is certainly nothing wrong with it either.

Although you didn't ask, a thought to keep in mind is that you also don't need to send an STD to every guest. Once a person receives an STD, they MUST be sent an invitation. It's perfectly fine, etiquette-wise, to only send STDs to people you know 100% you will want to invite. Definitely do not send them to any "maybes".

As for magnets vs. cards, I'm assuming the magnets are a good bit more expensive? If so, I'd definitely just opt for the card. If a person wants to put the STD as a reminder on their fridge, there are probably a bunch of magnets hanging out there anyway. Especially since you can't put as much info as you would like on the magnet. Though I don't think it is necessary to say "invitation to follow". That is already implied by the STD.

I don't see anything wrong with having your website on the STD. As a guest, I would find that handy.

I love the magnet idea. It's super cute because it'll stay in the high-traffic kitchen area (at least that's where I'd put it) so nobody will forget! My FH and I are looking at a few different options for STDs. Maybe we'll go with magnets, too! Let us know what you decide!!

We actually ordered non magnet just to save a few bucks. They came out beautifully.
