Wedding Woes

Tuesday??

I'm still recovering from the "celebration of life" Saturday.  There were lots of really great things- so many people turned out, MIL was as happy as can be, we heard lots of great stories and love for GMIL.  Things I can't comprehend- sFIL showed up 10 minutes before it started and left right when it ended.  He did nada to help.  Adult nephews spend most of the evening in the back room playing some sort of board game.

I'm starting to feel like I'm never going to catch up.  There is always so much STUFF to get done.  On that note I have pretty much finished our taxes.  I updated all of our college funds (stupid multifactor authentication), maxed out our roths, finished our Disney fund, and started to plan the bathroom reno.

I'm envious. I can't start ours until the end of February. That's when all the tax forms are released by the companies that we've worked for. I'm itching to finish. The CRA doesn't even open their efiling until the middle of February to start submitting.

I woke up late this morning and had to rush, I hate that. However, I'm grateful for the Starbucks app that you can just order on your way out the door, and pick up on the go. Fabulous!
  • SSDD at work.  I've had to put on my blocker, b/c my mind is all sorts of wandering and I need to focus at work.  Also, I cannot find a gif of Martin Short, "Focus, people" from Father of the Bride and I has a sad.

Still working on getting a handle on this life thing.  :D  I agree, 6, it feels like things are never finished.  I'm waiting on my documents from the retirement company and then I can finish my taxes.  It's irritating me.

  • @6fsn They're more emotionally exhausting than expected. Glad it was good though.
That's crazy about sFIL not helping .... but may be he didn't feel he didn't need to?

    @TrixieJess CRA has changed some things for pensions and e.i - they're available Feb 1st online. {not that it applies to you lol}

    @VarunaTT What's a blocker?

Still out of a phone. Went to one company and I didn't entirely like their selection, but I needed a phone so I almost got the Samsung Note 8. Then found out I had to drop $100 and end up paying about what I do now. So I changed my mind. I'm just sticking with my current company and I'll see if they have any deals going on.

Today's my OB appt. I think she'll wanna look at booking my glucose test. I'm gonna see about booking my April appts since I'm trying to figure out a few days.
M is taking his restricted gun license and it'll be in the afternoon of likely one of the days I have an OB appt, so I wanna book sooner than later in order to get mornings. Plus that day I'll likely be spending time with my mum, so it'll be easier to have it earlier in the day.

I'm wearing maternity pants. They're weird. I feel like they're gonna fall because I'm not use to them and they feel like they're sitting weird. They aren't, but I figured that not only is it easier to move pants vs belly band but also I need to get use to them.

Baby is just kicking away and happy I got a smoothie this morning lmao! Baby also likes the fact I'm wearing maternity pants. My other pants don't feel tight, but I think she hates them - they sit low and I think her legs are still low.
  • @banana468 Love/hate relationship with heavy, cozy things when sick. Great to fall asleep, then you wake up soaked in sweat lmao!
  • Still waiting for some forms so I can do my tax returns.

Not seeing too many jobs I qualify for at the moment. I guess I have to look in some other places.
  • I hope you feel better @banana468! I had the same thing a few weeks ago. The lack of fever was why I was like “maybe not flu?” But then I had 7/9 of the other symptoms so...

Yesterday I adulted pretty successfully. A little too successfully actually. I got my oil changed at a place other than the dealership and then today I took my car in for some recalls and they told me that as part of one of the recalls I would get a free oil change. Oh well. I decided to hold off on doing that recall until my next oil change is due. I also tried to tell them about my key getting locked in the steering wheel but of course my car was behaving beautifully when I tried to show them. I swear to god if one more man tells me “well, did you lock the wheels?” I’m going to lose my shit.

I think we’re going to try to move my stuff out of th apartment this weekend. I need to go over there and look at my contract to see how much notice I need to give them. It’s a month to month so probably not that much. I’m also paying a ticket today, boo. And finishing up the house while I study.

  • @TrixieJess that is the only way I order Starbucks.
  • It snowed all night (and is still snowing) so getting up to run early the morning was super fun. The exhaustion is starting to hit so I'm alternating coffee and water.

First day of classes went well yesterday. One student even clapped when I said the final was not cumulative. Two more classes today (which I'm not ready for).

Other than that not to much happening. I'm trying not to fall asleep at my desk.

I've had the app for a while, but they just opened a SB down the street from where I live. Lifechanging.

it's nice because if you have free rewards or birthday free drink you can still use the app and have it taken off that way.
  • MKD - Embrace the maternity pants!  I was sad to give them up!  I tried to keep wearing the maternity leggings, but it was just ridiculous the amount of times I had to pull them up!

Last night was a blur.  DD did not even take a cat nap during daycare, so we did let her sleep until 6:15.  But she wasn't a very happy kid the remainder of the day.  I also made a chicken parm bread bowl thing that I saw on a Tasty video on facebook.  It was ok, not sure if I would make it again.  After I got DD to bed, I realized I forgot to go to my parents to drop off the meals I made on Sunday.  Thankfully H works 5 minutes away from my parents, so I loaded up the meals into our cooler this morning and he will drop them off around lunchtime.

Tonight is yoga after work.  Hopefully nothing else!  I haven't been sleeping too well the last few nights, so I'm hoping to get out of that funk and get a good night in!

  • Ha! They found something wrong with my car. The shift knob needed to be replaced. Now I won’t have to build in extra time in the morning for the possible complication of having to readjust my car several times just to get the dumb key out.

Mobile starbucks is the best. It’s probably a bad thing to have a Starbucks next to the gym. All of this Starbucks talk is making me crave a latte and it’s right outside.

  • For once, I'm anxious to do taxes this year.  I've been talking to Loan Depot about a refi for one of my rental properties, but they need two years of tax returns.  I could send '15 and '16, but I made more money in '17 so I want to send that one.  But, as usual, I'm still missing my W-2 and 1099 from my two jobs.  Also missing my interest statement from my HELOC.  For some reason, my idiot bank seems to never send it and I have to call and ask for it.

I opened a Chase checking account last year and got a $200 bonus with it.  I got an "interest income" tax thing from them in the mail.  While, logically, I understand why.  Emotionally I'm, "WTF!  Goddamnit.  That was supposed to be a bonus!  Not a one-more-piece-of-paper to include in my tax return, lol."

Coming down with a cold.  Boo.  It's like, I'm not so sick I can justifiably take the day off.  But it's also harder and more exhausting to be at work.  I might take tomorrow off anyway.

Update on the battle with my evil cable company (Cox Communications).  I called them and dropped one of my channel packages.  Apparently that was a $45 savings.  So weird it was that much.  There was only one channel on it that I watched...Investigation Discovery.  Nooooooo...I lost my murder porn, lol.  But supposedly I can still watch the ID shows on On Demand.  They also gave me an additional $5/month discount.  So now my bill is $7/mo less than it was before...and $50 less than the new rates they were trying to stick me with...but I no longer get ID.  Which bums me out a bit.  I watched that channel a lot; however, it's not $45/month extra worth it.

This was also weird.  I know I was under a 2-year contract.  When I talked to an online rep this weekend, they also verified I was under a 2-year contract.  I talked two different people yesterday to make those changes.  Whatever it is they did, the second woman told me that I am NOT under a contract at the present time.  At least that was good news!  I can drop them like a hot potato if they p**s me off further, without paying a termination fee.

  • @OliveOilsMom I wear normal leggings if we're not going out {or if I find a long top} It just feels so weird right now lol! They are 100% more comfortable than belly band though

Does your Tax Department offer your tax slips on their website? That's where I usually end up getting them from as they tend to get held up in the mail and companies upload them first.

I do really like the company I work for, but I swear they are stuck in the 1950's.  There is nothing online for employees.  We even still turn in paper timesheets.

Same with the p/t job I have.  They don't have that info available for their ICs (Independent Contractors) anywhere online.  Which is really silly because I have to log into a page...special just for me...to do my work for them.  I don't know why they can't just upload the 1099s there.  They do e-mail them, when they are ready.  I got a note from them late last week that they aren't ready yet.

That’s really annoying. And here I was being all annoyed because we can’t get direct deposit at my job. Lol. I hope everything comes soon so you can knock your taxes out!

    no direct deposit?!?!
  • I’ve been such an adult today

taxes- I wasn’t sure how things would shake out with Dh going from a state employee to a private employee. I don’t have my 1099 but I had enough other stuff and a good guess.

laundry- done. Oh my gosh so many uniforms. We aren’t even in soccer season but there were 4 training jerseys and a keeper shirt.

Food- I made m2’s favorite Lara bar knock offs, sweet potato muffins, 3 days lunches for me, and cleaned a bunch of fruit and veggies

medical- called about my mammogram results, scheduled my annual physical, worked out, paid the last of 6lets palette expander

parenting- proud momma, 6let got his state reading test back and he’s in the upper advanced bracket. His coach also said he’s got a really good shot at pre academy and invited him to an extra tournament. I talked to m2’s coach and when a spot opens she needs to move to the 7-15 yo advanced gymnastics class. She turns 7 in March.

And i I caught up on all my volunteer stuff

    no direct deposit?!?!

That is surprising.  As old fashioned as the company I work for is, they do at least have direct deposit.

But we're paid on weird days.  The 2nd and the 17th.  So I'm technically always late on my mortgage by at least one day, lol.  And if a payday date falls on the weekend or a holiday, it pushes OUT to the NEXT business day.  All the other companies I've worked for will pay on the previous business day, in those situations.

Oh!  Speaking of direct deposits, a coworker at the last company I worked for was out drinking at his favorite local bar the day before payday.  He realized he didn't have enough money on him for what he had imbibed.  So he kept hanging out and drinking until midnight.  Which was when our paychecks would hit our accounts.  The clock struck midnight.  He went to the ATM to withdraw enough money to pay his tab, lol.  I miss working with that guy.  He was hilarious!

  • Hey everybody. Whizzing through before I head out to pick up Babypants. Took me over 2.5 hours to get into work this morning. I live 15.7 miles from my office.

We only got 6" of snow this morning and everyone knew about the storm for a while. PLUS it's only the second real snow accumulation we've had this winter. And yet, my town and the next two towns over did not plow at all. So everything was slippery and slow this morning. And a major thoroughfare that people take as an alternate route into the city was flooded and therefore closed this morning. It floods a lot. But no one around here does anything to fix it. They just shrug it off and then scratch their heads the next time it floods and it causes massive rush hour backups.

I need to find a way to be independently wealthy so I don't have to bother with 2.5-hour commutes.

I hope everyone who is sick feels better! And I hope everyone having a lousy day has a better evening. Cocktails for everyone (to kill the germs and the doldrums).

Yeah. Our hospital has a bit *cough* huge *cough* cash flow problem so no direct deposit for us. We also get paid weekly. That’s actually kind of nice though. Going in on my days off to pick up my check (because I am a poor desperate student) is annoying though.

So sorry to hear that!  2.5 hour commute, even just once in awhile, is horrendous.  I hope your drive home and to pick up Babypants is substantially faster.

To the bolded:...so I can sleep until 10AM, if I want.  Then take advantage of weekday 25 cent martini lunch specials.

I can work from home; however, yesterday I was scheduled to attend a meeting that required in-person attendance from everyone. Of course, shortly after I finally arrived at the office, this meeting was pushed back to next Monday. Arrrghhh.
