It's my day off.  YAY.  :D

I'm going to get some housework done and then head out to do some shopping.  The weather is going to be amazing all day.

Our deck is coming together.  We were working on it last night before DefConn went to bed. I call out to him to get inside and start the bedtime routine (brush teeth and use the bathroom).  He runs over and says, "I peed on the tree over there!"  LOL, OK dude.

I've been watching this show on Netflix called "The Letdown" and it's pretty good.  It's an Australian show.  I fell asleep watching it last night and everyone in my dreams had an Aussie accent.  LOL

  • Hell yeah, day off and nice weather!!

My coworker and I have started rotating hours - one week I work 7:30 - 4:30 and 8:00 - 5:00 the next. I've been 7:30 this week and last and I hit a wall every evening at like 6:15. I hope it's the hours and not something bigger.

H and I are trying grilling pizzas tonight. Except that I forgot to take sauce out of the freezer and buy cheese. So unless I go to the store, we're having grilled dough.

  • Oh, I will also like to add this one.

    "Miss, I have anger issues."

Who Don't????  Thank you for letting me get that off of my chest. Whew!!!!

It’s gorgeous out!!  Ssdd today. I need to stop buying clothes at Costco. My whole outfit today is from there except my bra. Side note- if you want a long tee that isn’t see through the Kirkland tee is awesome. It runs small though.
I love Costco Kid's clothes. I haven't gotten "me" clothes from there only because I'm tall and I like to buy clothes from retailers that specialise.
  • My illness has just been hanging on ridiculously long :(.  I don't know if it is a cold (don't really have a runny nose), but it is some kind of upper respiratory issue.  Yesterday was an extra bad day and I called in sick.

I feel amazingly better today.  Still sick.  Still coughing (less).  But it's the best I've felt in a week.  We're heading out to FL for vacation tomorrow afternoon, so I'm really hoping yesterday was just the final buggy hurrah before I'm all better.

I'm so excited to head out of town!  We haven't gone anywhere since August of last year.  And it's been a few years since we did a FL Gulf Coast trip, whereas we used to do them 1-2x/year.  Plus, it's also just nice to take Fri. off and half the day on Thurs.

Though that also means I have  1 1/2 fewer days to get my monthly reports done.  2 1/2 fewer, since I was sick yesterday.  It's going to be a looonnnggg and busy day at work today, lol.  Worth it!

  • The weather is beautiful here, too! Highs in the 70s today and sunny. I'm going to have a hard time working indoors today.

I leave for NY on Friday and I. CANNOT. WAIT. I miss my friends, I miss the city. It's going to be exhausting because classes aren't done yet, but I don't care. I need a break.

@missJeanLouise not sure where you are headed in the Midwest but there are definitely storms around the next few days.

Feel free to ignore, but how are you feeling about the pregnancy?
  • Mostly SSDD. I have to get the house guest ready for FSIL and her bf and their dog for Thursday-Monday. Her parents have kept the dog since they moved, but they’re in Europe right now and she didn’t want to keep the dog in the kennel for all 14 days. I reluctantly said yes to having them stay here for a few days. It’s just causing some stress because even though I don’t want him on the couches, I know he’ll get up there anyways, so last night I moved a bunch of stuff around and covered those up with sheets. I also have to buy a flea and tick treatment for the cats today since he’s up in the mountains all the time. Ugh.

It’s another cloudy rainy day here, and I’m excited. It’s going to swing from 60 degrees today to 90 tomorrow and I am not here for it.

We've found that cheap, fleece blankets (like the $5 ones from target/walmart) work the best for keeping dog fur off the couch. It might not be worth it to you to do this, but we found covering the couch with three of those work way better than sheets. Our sheets tended to move around when the dog inevitably jumped on the couch so now we just use the blankets.
  • Good to "see" you again @missJeanLouise! How long are you stateside for?

    Re: storms. Yayyyyyyyy!!

I am feeling better. Idk how to explain it in a way that doesn’t sound worse than it is. I am moving forward, I don’t get excited about things in general until they are in the immediate future. So while I am not bouncing off the walls or have Pinterest nursery boards (yet), I know things will be okay. I know that life will be different than I was expecting but different doesn’t mean worse.

eta: @c@charlotte989875 I have 20 days left (12 in the Midwest then the last bit in New England) I have already been here for about 2 weeks
New England! You'll be in my neck of the woods!

Glad to hear from you :)

Today is my Thursday - I took Friday off for H's birthday. The weather is absolutely gorgeous outside - and I am stuck in an office building lol. Luckily it will be light out for a while when I get home so hopefully Babypants and I can go for a walk in the neighborhood before her bedtime.
  • @charlotte989875 thanks for the suggestion! If the sheets don’t work I’ll make FSIL go buy some of those. Definitely beats the price of having him in a kennel.

@missJeanLouise good to see you! Sending you good vibes.

  • Good morning.

We are getting storms today.  Which is a blessing as it's sooooo dry around here.  We need the rain so bad.  Especially after such a dry winter.

I was hoping the rain would start sooner.  Now I'm feeling guilty not going out for a hike or a run.   Although I have done one or the other every day for over a week so a girl needs a break right?

I'm so bored these days. Not sure when work is starting up again.   I have setup some mini-goals in the meantime, but have finished most of those already.

Today's goal is to put together then new table set of the deck.   You see we bought the set last Wednesday but it came with no instructions or hardware.   Grr.    Of course Lowe's is 30 miles away and this was the last box anyway.  The hardware had to come directly from the company.   It should get here today.  I should be able to put the table together just in time for the rain.

One of my big goals for the is no spend challenge for May.   I think it's mostly obtainable (I'm meeting up with friends next week for dinner).   I have deleted and/or unsubscribed from sale emails.  (tangent, the shear amount of sale emails was getting obnoxious anyway).  I even deleted me credit card info from Amazon so no more 1-click. It helps I live in the boondocks.  I'm  not even allowing myself to buy a movie.

I'm even trying to eat 90% of my meals from my pantry/freezer. Hopefully only having to buy diary and produce this month (and the one dinner with friends).   We just got a new instant pot and I love it so far.  Between that and the goal I've been getting creative with dishes.

    Wish me luck

Happy to "see" you also!  We were all a little worried about you.

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better about the pregnancy.  This is so true and a great attitude to have.

  • @missJeanLouise *hugs* and hi!  Glad to see you're enjoying your trip and doing well overall - FWIW I don't think that sounds horrible at all!

SSDD here - yesterday I turned down my BFF to go ride bikes to dinner and rainchecked for today because I thought H had meetings all day today.  Turns out I was invited to said meetings, well that info would have been helpful yesterday!

I'm the opposite, I'm FX for rain way later than the 9pm expected time - since I made plans to ride bikes and I'm in sandals (my feet are not ready though, sorry, not sorry).  Plus I hate thunderstorms, they scare me.

I also had a clothing meltdown this morning.  I own plenty (probably too many) of options, but I'm not mentally ready for lighter clothing and just couldn't get on board with what I was putting together.  First world problems, I know.

I'm officially over 1/3 way through the Vegan Challenge, and I must say, I feel great!  The bloat is gone, I'm not hungry or missing anything too terribly, and it's been fun trying new foods.  With that said, I eat out too much to go full vegan all the time, but I do think I'll probably change my eating habits moving forward and become more of a vegetarian, maybe even become a pescetarian.  After my celebratory cheeseburger, of course!

  • SSC - We love grilled pizza!  We do it a few times each summer.  May I suggest a BBQ Chicken one with cheddar and bacon???  It's our favorite!

Lynda - Good luck on no spend!  We have an instant pot too and so far I love it!  We have done a hamburger stroganoff, a sesame garlic chicken, pad thai, beef roast, beef stew, and last night was an knock off Olive Garden cheesy ziti.  There is some adjustments that I have done when including noodles, but overall the dinners have been winners.  The pad thai rice noodles didn't cook enough, the egg noodles for stroganoff were too done, and the ziti last night were just perfect!  So I make notes and adjust the time the next time I make it.  I've gotten the egg noodles down, but haven't made the pad thai again yet, but I will add a minute and try to break them up a bit first.

MJL - It's good to "see" you!  Glad your mentally in a better place with the pregnancy.  Enjoy your last few weeks in the states!

Weather is gorgeous here today too.  I opened the windows as soon as I got to the office!  I need to start doing my lunchtime walks, so today is the day to start!

Yesterday I bought a Coach purse off Poshmark for my Mother's Day gift.  I'm so anxious for it to arrive to make sure it is as good as the pictures look!  It is a teal color, so I'm also looking forward to the new pop of color!  H was happy that my choice in purse was such a good price too!  LOL!

Tonight is yoga after work and then home.  We did a family walk last night, but will probably skip one tonight since I don't get home until 7ish.

  • It is really warm here today. The storms are hitting tomorrow so I'm getting in my sandal and shorts wearing today! I'm still in cleaning mode. Hit DS2's room this afternoon. Good lord that kid kept a ton of crap. He is extremely sentimental so I texted him to say the next time he is home he has to go through and tell me what is to keep and what is to throw away and "keep everything" is not an option! I think GF will be a good influence in regard.

@missJeanLouise good to "see" you back. Enjoy the rest of your time in the states.

Off I go to the Habitat Restore to drop of a load of house goods.
  • So that was hilarious!  I pay all my credit card bills around the 1st and just got done doing that.

My Amazon credit card had a whopping balance of $0.48.  And that was the minimum payment they wanted paid also.  No slouching for under $1, lol.  So I made their weirdo tiny payment.  I was actually expecting to get an error back like "payments need to be at least $1" or something like that.  But, whatever, it went through.

To my amazement, that means I only had one Amazon purchase last month.  Which, after my gc and points were applied, it was indeed a $0.48 purchase, lol.  Come back to haunt me today.

I have another purchase waiting in my cart.  But I didn't want things arriving while I was OOT, so I'm not pulling the trigger until this weekend or maybe even Mon.  But that will be for the next statement anyway.

I need an outfit for MIL's bday party.  I hate clothing shopping and I'm not liking anything I'm seeing right now.  My IL's always make me fell overdressed. I hate this.
  • @6fsn could you just wear jeans and a cute blouse with wedges? Or would that still be overdressed?

None of my jeans fit. I’d rather buy something I could wear this summer. That would probably be overdressed though. I wore jeans and a sweater  to a funeral for that side and was overdressed.
  • Damn I'm good.

Not only did I figure it out without instructions (will not claim it was the most efficient way) but I also predicted correctly that it would be done just as the rain was going to start.

Hopefully we can sit outside for dinner tomorrow.

Oof. Old navy has some casual dresses that might work. Although if that's still too casual I'd be tempted to just wear a t-shirt, jeans/shorts, and a pair of flats.

  • It's a high of 89! Unfortunately, I'm spending time after work at our monthly department happy hour  :/

I'm excited for the next few days - FH and I are catching up on all the Marvel movies as we are going to see Infinity War on Sunday! Woohoo for NWR events.
