Wedding Woes

Friday!!!!

What's UP?!?!

M2 gets her cast off today.  I'm hoping and praying something isn't weird and she gets to play tomorrow.  She's staying home all day so the afternoon is bubble bath and we're doing our nails.

Tomorrow is MIL's bday party.  I've got all my bottles of water ready to go.

There's also a lot of sports and a lot of rain in the forecast.  Last weekend of crazy for awhile!!

Glad you got some sleep and your mom is recovering, @mrsconn23
  • Who else is excited for the royal wedding?!? I can’t wait.

I'm way too invested in this; I've read all about who is walking her down the aisle and the bets on the dress designer. I'm stoked!

Nope, it's a long weekend here. Most people are only caring about heading up to the cottage or sitting out in the sun.

Me too. Everything I know about this wedding, I learned from the constant, unavoidable commercials for the lifetime movie.

  • I'm totally watching the Royal Wedding. My Bump group is having a live virtual watch party too.

My excuse is that I'm half British though, haha, even though half my relatives over there couldn't care less either.

I watched that Lifetime movie. DH hate-watched it with me. It was gloriously painful in that typical Lifetime way.

I’m putting my money on Erdem but with a very low level of confidence. Love the action shots of assembling the cake! And hoping for the Strathmore Rose tiara.

I have friends who live across the pond who just roll their eyes at anything Monarchy, so this is not a big deal. Unless it interrupts a footie match, they don't care.

I agree on the tiara, the others don't seem to fit her style. I'm guessing Burberry on the dress.

    I'm LOVING the cake photos!

One of the gay/drag bars is closing here.  It's the end of an era; that particular building has always been home to a gay bar since at least the early 90s, but I think even longer.  So, next weekend is the big legacy show that's pulling in performers from all over to say goodbye.  K is doing the opening number from The Greatest Showman on skates.  They wanted to just redo an existing costume, I said no.  It's our last show here, we're going big.  We bought this gorgeous jacket in red and have plans with the cricut and rhinestones tomorrow and all next week to get it ready.  I'm kind of excited, I haven't made any costumes since the crown give up:

I don't think we have any other plans this weekend except trying to relax and take care of paperwork as much as possible.
    That purple one?!  I.  Die.
  • @mrsconn23, glad you got some rest.  It looks like your taking things well.
@VarunaTT, very cool jacket.  The showman will be AWESOME.  gotta go big.
I actually have no care for this wedding. I'll find out her dress on facebook after it's over, but tha'ts because I just really like wedding dresses.

I bought a memory foam pillow and used it for the first time last night.  My neck kinda hurts. Should I give it some time to adjust?  Or pull my 10 year old very flat, very non functional TRUSTY pillow out from the closet and never part with that?

  • @6fsn, yay M2 getting her cast off!  Sounds like a fun "mommy and me" day planned.

@charlotte989875, Good luck on the phone interview!

@mrsconn23, I'm glad you got a good night of rest!  I'm sure it really brightened her spirits to see DefConn.  He sounds like a great and loving child.  I hope the good news continues for your mom.

@ShesSoCold, haha, I remember your talking about in a recent thread how your H doesn't like HOA-type communities, ie townhomes and condos.  FWIW, and maybe this is regional, but many townhomes I see are a "few-offs" and are not part of a planned community.  No HOA, so no fees or special rules.  The downside of that is having to work with neighbors that share a wall or roof for when exterior repairs/improvements are needed, ie a new roof, painting, siding, etc.  Every once in awhile, I'll see an instance where people did not work together.  And two townhomes that share a common exterior wall are painted two totally different colors.  Like half the wall is cream and the other half is medium brown.  It's "interesting" for sure, lol.

I'm bummed I didn't make it to my real estate investor meeting last night.  I was hoping to gauge if I wanted to go to the "self storage" guy's seminar on Sat.  However, I'm going to bite the bullet and go to the seminar anyway.  Crossing my fingers it does not turn out to be a big waste of my time.  It only costs $20 to attend, so it isn't the money.  But it's an all day affair, from 9AM-3PM on Sat.  That is a lot of my precious weekend time!  So it better be worth it, lol.

My H and I are going to look at a 4-plex today.  We are super, super excited.  I would (potentially) love to get my hands on this baby.  It's practically gutted and needs substantial repairs.  But it's listed at less than one third of the after repair value.  It would be an amazing ROI for either a rental or a flip.  It's also in an area that has had good appreciation over the last few years and I expect that to continue.  Our plan would be to buy it, fix it up, rent it out, then sell it in a few years when (hopefully) it would be worth substantially more than our "all in" price.  As it is, we'd come out with about an extra $100K in equity just after fixing it up.  I think it will gain another $100K in appreciation over the next 3-5 years.  My H thinks it will gain another $200K in appreciation over the next 3-5 years.  I hope he's right!  But he isn't, lol.

  • @VarunaTT I want to wear that coat for for life!  Love it!

@mrsconn23 Glad to hear about your mom!  And the story about Defconn visiting, so sweet!

    @charlotte989875 good luck!

I'm meh about the wedding, not going to watch it per say, but not avoiding coverage either.  I like their story.

I'm now a bit bummed about my Florida trip.  I told my BIL and he's all in and going to keep it a secret.   But there's family drama with BIL's family (always) who mainly live down there.  SIL from another part of FL and her H and 2 kids are now staying with my sister because they were uninvited from their moms house.  My sis has a two bedroom condo!  So with me, that's 6 adults and 3 toddlers (and I strongly dislike the one toddler.).  I'm considering getting a hotel, but that means that I miss out on a lot of time at the house with the nugget.  I don't know

We just moved into our town home.  Granted, we also have the house too - but the list of "rules" I saw were within reason.  No noise past a certain time, be respectful to neighbors, etc etc.  The only one I'm confused on is they say you get 1 parking garage and 1 parking space per unit.  Any visitors have to park on the street....so I asked H to ask them what our parking space is since it's not labeled, and they never rushed back to tell us yet.  I never have had a problem parking and i honestly think any guests who come over would be in the same boat.

The only shared wall is the unit above us.  All other walls are against the hallways and that's a SUPER plus for us (although if someone comes in from the front hallway, we can hear them in our bedroom...it's rare though)

This is exactly my attitude about the wedding.  I don't care about it, other than wanting to see the dress!  Because that's always some good wedding dress porn, lol.

Ya know, I've also had bad experiences with a variety of "special", ie more expensive, pillows that claim to be all this and that better.  Bamboo, cooling, memory foam.  You name it.  They all seem to keep my neck lifted too much.  I've found I'm better off with some cheapo $6 Walmart pillow, lol.

With that said, I've read it can take a little time for your body to get used to a new pillow.  I typically give it at least two weeks before giving up.

yeah, and I've been having some shoulder pain lately, and I had a coupon for this pillow so thought: why not?  I do NEED a pillow. The neck pain isn't bad.  I'm really hoping it'll go away soon because the pillow is supportive.   I actually have an apt with a chiro for my shoulder on Saturday.  H and I had matching apt's tomorrow, but it looks like he wont make it back from work in time.  Bummer because he needs his back looked at before my shoulder.  But his stupid work "scheudle" sucks and he's working on his day off.

I bet facebook will highlight ALL the things that need highlighting without me having to watch it.

  • @CharmedPam, for me just wanting to see the dress, I won't have to go any further than Yahoo or Google's home page, lol.

We bought the red one.  We're going to experiment with the Cricut to see about making the embellishments on the vest and the sleeves similar to Jackman's from the Showman movie, but I want to just be able to tack them on, instead of permanently sewing so that the jacket isn't so circus overall.

One of the major online vendors of rhinestones/beads started out of a small town that's about an hour away from us and just opened a brick and mortar store, so we're headed there tomorrow morning to look at stones.  I'm so excited about that; buying online is always a hope and a prayer that they look right.  I really want to get black square or triangle stones to do the lapel/collar into black, so it'll sparkle beautifully, then we'll probably small crystal AB mixed with red AB the jacket itself and figure out how to do the embellishments too.

Charmed, I recently bought a side sleeping memory foam.  It took me about a week to get used to it, but I love it now.  It really did help my sleeping and, more importantly, I haven't had this knot I would get in one of my shoulder blades from sleeping.  I'd give it awhile.

I was supposed to have a job interview today in Texas City. Unfortunately, tragically, there was a school shooting nearby in Santa Fe, TX. Two people were killed and others were wounded. My prayers and thoughts for the victims and survivors.

The roads in the area are closed off. I hope the hiring manager will agree to reschedule the interview.

All the news reports I've seen are saying 8-9 people dead. If the hiring manager doesn't reschedule, it's not a company you want to work for.
  • Its still raining here and I just want it to stop!  Tonight is a stop at Lowes because the water spout on our bathroom faucet just fell off the other day.  It was only a few years old!  This was from the first bathroom we re-did, so it's only 3 years old - if that!

Tomorrow I have a baby sprinkle to go to in North Jersey.  My other friend from down here will meet up with me and then we will drive together.  At some point we will go to church.  Not sure what else will be planned, but we should try and do some work around the house because vacation is coming up quick!
