Wedding Woes

Feeling the Friday vibes.

YAY for the end of the week!!  And we're leaving to go to the farm as soon as DH gets home.

I'm missing DefConn and I can't wait to see him tonight.  He's been having a blast.  DH's uncle has been sending all sorts of pics of his shenanigans.  He's in heaven having the run of the place.

But DH and I stayed up late having an amazing conversation last night.  It reminded me of our dating days when we spent hours on the phone talking about any and everything.  I'm not even that tired today and the last time I looked at the clock, it was after 12:30a.

I'm in the middle of the documentary Believer on HBO.  I am enjoying it.

Re: Feeling the Friday vibes.

  • I need to finish Wild Wild Country.  I have half-started so many damn things on Netflix and HBO (the finale of Sense8, Westworld, Set It Up, Ibiza, and the list goes on...).  I need a binge-watch weekend.  ;)
  • I think I want to find this Wild Wild Country you speak of.

I am hoping we get the go-ahead from our boss to leave at 3 again today.  We're heading to the city and traffic is going to be horrendous even at 3.  But still better than 5.  Today will be so slow it won't even be funny.

H and I saw The First Purge last night.  It was OK.  I like the other ones better. Then we went out for fro-yo, my favorite treat, and back home to finish crazy ex girlfriend.

  • The secret Chinese restaurant DH and I went to last night was AMAZING! We had this soup that had a whole duck in it. They gave us a tour of the farm and it was gorgeous.
This morning we went to a baby yoga class and it was really nice. Then we had tacos, went home, had a nap, now he is on a junk food run because god forbid we run out of gummy bears.
It's a good thing I know you currently live overseas or I'd be suspicious we're married to the same man, lol.

@NBSquared2017, I currently have 95 Forensic Files saved on my DVR, lol.  I lost the ID channel, aka murder porn, when I went to a lower tier cable package a few months ago.  So now I have to scavenge other channels for shows like that.

I'm at home today.  Took a 5-day weekend, lol.  It's been glorious.  I've been binge watching everything.  We BBQ'ed steaks last night and they came out great.

However, today, I'm going a little stir crazy!!!!  I put an offer in on a duplex yesterday and haven't heard back yet.  But it's still early.  I finally found a truck I want, but it's at a used dealership that's about 30 minutes away.  My H and I are having a friend drive us out there, but the two of them have a construction job this morning so it will be another few hours before we leave.

So I'm sitting here, "House. Truck. House. Truck...".  Waiting, waiting, lol.

@short+sassy do you not have a loaner for your car from it getting fixed? I was thinking you were just car-less for a day or two but sounds like it is longer.

@short+sassy do you have Netflix? I believe there are 9 seasons streaming!
  • Guys. I’m so angry.

Look at that high for today. I can’t. Last night we did the heat equivalent of batting down the hatches. All of the windows are closed with blinds drawn, and I even put foil in some of the worst ones. We turned down the AC as low as it would go last night but at 11:30 it was still 83 degrees so I don’t know how effective it will be. Ugh.

I’m getting a massage today and then it’s homework and gym later. And hopefully not baking to death.

  • For the love of all that is holy!  Go to Penzeys.com for any food lovers on here.  They are giving away a bottle of vanilla (its the REALLY good kind!) and their Salsa&Pico seasoning for free!  Its a $31 value!  Everything they have is amazing!  There is no purchase necessary, just shipping.  But if you add in $20 of products, shipping is free for everything!  If you spend $50, there is another seasoning you can get for free, but I forget what it was.

Buffett was good last night!  I very much enjoyed myself!  I cannot remember seeing a larger line for security in my life!  Not even at an Eagles game which has triple the stadium capacity.  It was crazy!  I missed at least one song, but found a good spot close to the front of the lawn, so I had a good view.  There was also an amazing breeze, which made the last day of our heat wave bearable!  We have rain moving through today and its taking the rest of the heat with it.

This weekend will be busy.  It's H's birthday today.  I already have a brisket in the crock pot for his dinner tonight!  Tomorrow will be church and dinner at the chocolate restaurant (per H's request).  Then I got us tickets to the Chinese lantern festival, which is a surprise.  I know H will like it!  We will be bringing DD with us, I think she will love to look at the lanterns too.  Here's hoping! LOL!

Sunday will be dinner with MIL and her BF.  We are going to Rodizo, which is one of the all you can eat Brazilian meat places.  I've mentioned it before.  So H will be one happy guy by the end of the weekend, it will be filled with chocolate and beef!  I still need to figure out a time to make his birthday cake though.  I totally dropped the ball this morning and didn't have enough time to bake it.

Holy cow - you are a brave woman. I would be stuffing iced cubes down my pants. It's finally starting to cool off here - and by cool I mean 85 degrees.

I think I am one of the rare people who actually LOVE fall and winter. The feeling when the cold air hits your face is theeee best. I can't wait until summer is over!
  • I second you @NBSquared2017 - well, fall more than winter but I freaking HATE summer!

No, it's going to be a long haul.  A bit of a story.  I don't know what is wrong with the car and don't currently have it at a repair shop.  I suspect there is something wrong with either the electrical system or the main computer.  I had warrantied work done a year ago on both of those, after the floor boards flooded.  However, just in case it isn't that, I want my after market warranty to kick in for whatever repairs it needs.  And THAT isn't in effect until today.  But I'm paranoid and want to wait another month or so before I do anything.  I read through the fine print of my contract and, in a nutshell, they have a lot of "outs" and/or could make my life difficult if they wanted to.  So I don't want to be all, "Oh look, I'm 3 days out of the exclusion period and my car broke down and I'm putting in a claim."

I usually only think of dealerships giving out loaner cars and maybe only do that when the car is still under the original warranty.  The closest dealership is about 100 miles away.  And, yikes, they have horrendous reviews.

We've been planning to buy a truck for a long time anyway and, since I'd like to wait on taking my car to a shop, this seemed like a good time to finally pull that trigger.

@NBSquared2017, I actually don't have Netflix or Hulu.  Though I'll probably sign up for one or both, one of these days.  I just love DVRs and skipping right through commercials.  If it wasn't for a DVR, I would have kicked my cable to the curb years ago.

  • @levioosa and @missJeanLouise, yikes, I thought it was bad in NOLA.  You all definitely have our highs in the low 90s beat, lol.

Count me in as someone else who hates summer.  Fall isn't even cold here.  It's usually perfect temps in the 70s.  There are also lots of festivals.  Spring is equally fantastic.

  • H and I are fall/winter people too (hence our plan to move to freaking Montana). I would much rather be cold than hot. I do not do well in heat.
Image result for someecard betting someone half your shit youll love them forever
  • That is some serious heat @levioosa and @missJeanLouise. I was dying this week with temps in the high 90s. Thankfully we’re back down to the high 70s now.

H wants to go to camp this weekend. I know how much he hates the apartment, and it’s not that far away, but it’s just such a process to go down there. I’ll go because I love him and he’s been (trying) to be patient with all my job stuff. But really I just want to sleep in and watch Netflix.

@short+sassy - I've been trying to convince H to nix the cable for some time now - he just won't do it.

Between Netflix, Hulu, and the Fire Stick...it's so unnecessary!
  • Hello!!!

Today is my first day off since sometimes mid-last month.   Much needed one also.      Currently we are battling wildfires.   While we are safe now, Tuesday and Wednesday nights were horrible.   The hillside across the highway from us was in flames.  They were evacuated while we were not.  Needless to say I didn't get much sleep.     It's still so smokey I can't even keep the windows open.

DH is doing well since his surgery.  He is down some 70 pounds since April 9th.   It's so strange that I eat more than him now and I don't really eat that much.     He is still trying to find his new normal when it comes to food.  I don't think he is eating enough.   I think he is only eating 3 small meals, when he needs more 5 a day (note - he can only eat about 5 oz at a time).  I also have resorted to counting his vitamins also because he kept skipping days.   Work as been very stressful lately and he hasn't had a good routine, so I have to become the nag.   :/

Sunday is his birthday. Plan is to go dinner with friends 1.5 hours away.   That is subject to change depending on the fire.   Now way I'm going to be that far from my dogs.  Heck I was 5 miles away on the 4th and had a breakdown the GM let me go get them.

Hope everyone is doing well and had a good 4th.

  • @lyndausvi my friend keeps posting videos, he can see the fire from his bedroom window. I can’t imagine he is sleeping well. He can’t go to work because it is in the path of fire. I hope you get some rain soon.
  • Lynda - Glad you are back, hope that the fires can be extinguished quickly!  Hopeful you get rain too!
  • yikes, so scary @lyndausvi. Hope they extinguish and pronto.  Glad H is doing so well.  70 lbs is amazing!!!

We can too,  must be close to each other!  Wonder where he works? Not many roads are blocked off, mostly neighborhoods.

Rain is in the forecast.  Hopefully it will be enough.

He works at Woody Creek distillery. I hope they are just keeping employees away for safety (or whatever) and that it is not as bad as it seems (to me). FX for a good downpour.

eta: idk why, I assumed there are multiple fires. His videos are of basalt mountain.
  • @lyndausvi I was just thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. Stay safe!

I know you don't want to nag your H but he really does need to follow the guidelines for nutrition (vitamins and the right amount of calories). I have a friend who had bariatric surgery and didn't eat enough food/take correct vitamins and she had some problems. She lost too much weight which negatively affected her health. She eventually was referred to a nutritionist and started a specific vitamin regime. Now she has put on a little weight (because she needed to do so) and is better. Hope your H doesn't have her negative side effects.
