First Love /Second Chance Reading for Ceremony

Looking for readings for a non religious ceremony. Would love to find one that represents the couple being first loves, breaking up but then finding themselves years later and falling in love again and getting married...Something like God Bless the Broken Road...but not that. Any ideas? Thanks!!

  • Love is lovelier the second time around
Just as wonderful with both feet on the ground
It's that second time you hear your love song sung
Makes you think perhaps that love, like youth, is wasted on the young
Love's more comfortable the second time you fall
Like a friendly home the second time you call
Who can say what brought us to this miracle we've found?
There are those who'll bet love comes but once, and yet
I'm oh, so glad we met the second time around

I think that it would be more appropriate to focus on the future of the relationship and not past breaks in it.

I think it is great to look forward but there is something great about remembering why you came back together. I think the reference would have to be subtle and may actually be better as a song used during the ceremony or as part of a private note shared before or after the ceremony.
  • Walk in to the instrumental version of Rascal Flatts "Bless The Broken Road" and call it golden...  I'm with the others in it's about being the relationship going into the future...
