Maybe not what you are looking for, but King Arthur's Flour has an amazing flourless chocolate cake recipe!

We have a chocolate cake recipe in my family, but I don't have that one memorized! I probably should since its the one I use the most as H is all about chocolate things and its usually the one I end up making!

I will see if I can find a comparable one.

This one is close to my family's recipe, but we use buttermilk and Crisco sticks instead of vegetable oil. I also don't use boiling water, but hot water from the tap.

IDK how much work you want to do. I've made this cake. It's a PITA and then some to make. And worth every second of pain. It was so good everyone at my birthday party stopped talking while eating.

I made the Ding Dong Cake. The filling is the same as my favorite frosting recipe. Delicious cake except the ganache didn't thicken so next time I will either use chocolate frosting or find an alternate ganache recipe. I decorated it with rainbow sprinkles and put it in the fridge to set.

It might add too much sweetness.

I add hot coffee or instant coffee granules to pretty much everything chocolate I bake and it really does help the flavor. I assume it's kind of like what salt does to sweets.

Probably not (it could also mess up proportions since there would be added sugar in the hot cocoa - baking is a science!). If you want to boost the chocolate flavor of anything, use a dark cocoa instead of regular. I have both Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa and regular (whatever is on sale). I use Special Dark for most of H's chocolate things I make for him. I have recently started buying Penzey's dark cocoa powder too.

The coffee works because its just coffee and water. You can also use espresso powder. We are not coffee drinkers and we can sometimes taste the coffee in chocolate things, so I never add it, just in case the flavor profile decides to come through.
