I've heard people say it can run onto your dress if you get sweaty, but I have no idea. I am white as white can be so I would look REDICULOUS with a spray tan so I'm going to pass.

I would say it ran onto their dress because they got it too soon before the wedding or didn't go to a good tanner. From the knot videos they suggested getting at least two days before the wedding so the top loose coat washes off and then wont run on the dress. Plus im getting married in October so wont be too hott ( I hope).  I am very pale too and loved how tan I was as a kid being out in the sun all the time. I would like a nice glow on my wedding day, not of course an orange woman.  The knot suggested that a reputable spray tanner would give you only a tan that looks like been sunkissed not like layed out in the sun for a week ( I don't have time to lay out all week).

I've been thinking about it too, I know there's been some conversations on this board in the past, but I don't remember who's recommended. I'd like to hear good or bad experiences from it...

I was thinking about getting it but I am not sure I have also heard that airbush tanning is better but I am not sure. lol.  We have a few places over here that have like $5 spray tan days once a week . So I am thinking about trying it and seeing if I like it or not.

Go to body wrap and tan in winter park. It is actually a person that sprays you instead of a machine. They have a clear formula that isnt a color being sprayed on you, it develops over night. This won't rub off on your dress.
Any spray tan you get, you should be sure to get it in time to shower before you put on your white dress just in case.

i didn't get one for the wedding. we were honeymooning in mexico, so i wanted a base tan to avoid burning. i did a bad thing and used a tanning bed for 6 weeks! i was airbrushed for my bachelorette party, though. :) i'd recommend using a place where a person airbrushes you by hand, getting it done NOW to test it to see if you like it (it's a bit shocking the first time because your face gets darker than it would naturally in the sun), getting the clear solution, and getting it done 2 days before the wedding to give it time to look more natural. you'll have to avoid chlorine after you get the tan, so if you plan to have a big pool bash or something for your rehearsal dinner, definitely don't get an airbrush tan!

i'd also get my manicure and pedicure done a day before the tan so that the acetone, etc, doesn't make the tan splotchy. :)

yes def get your pedi and mani done beforethe spray tan. If you soak your feet like for a pedicure you run the risk of coming out looking like you have white socks on your feet!

ive only done a tanning bed once and I went in for 5 minutes and got a bad burn.  That is why I am leaning towards spray tan.

I got a spray tan for my wedding. The place that I was going to use was 310 tan in winter park. I tried it out for my bachelorette party and liked the results...however, two days before my wedding the spray machine at 310 broke and they called to cancel my appointment. I was so disappointed and afraid to go anywhere else without a trial. I prefer myself tan and decided to risk it. I found this lady named Sandy that comes to your house. She did amazing work and she's only $35. I liked the color better than 310 tan. It was much more natural. Here's the link to her website.

Also, the tan did rub off a little bit on my dress under my arms. It was only noticeable along the edges. I would suggest making sure that you wash the areas where the dress will rub against your skin real good to make sure you get the top coat. I had my dress cleaned and the tan did come out.

I went here and did the "Natural" formula two days before the wedding. The "Bronzer" is the one that can rub off. None of it ran off on my dress at all. I would totally recommend doing this over a tanning bed. Tanning beds are SO not healthy for you. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

I called the spa in Cocoa Beach and asked about it. They said that it will run off on your dress if you get it done right before. They told me 3 days before the wedding is good. I haven't tried it though and I won't be in Cocoa until a day before so I will have to find someone on the West coast. Thanks for the advice about the mani/pedi. That was useful information! lol.

i'm not sure what they are saying will rub off. an airbrush tan actually causes a reaction with the amino acids in your skin. it's actually your skin that's that color, and when it is "coming off," it's your skin flaking off. i find that on day 3 my skin is more likely to be flaking off than on day 2. all i can think is that maybe they only spray with bronzer, which means there is dye in it, and that until you shower and wash off the bronzer it will come off your skin?

    i hate bronzer. hate.

My tanning experience before the wedding was 1000000% amazing. I went to have a St Tropez spray tan at the Ritz-Carlton Grandes Lakes. Hands down THE best spray tan I've ever had - my regret was doing it 2 days before and not the day before.

None of it ran on my clothes and very little was in the sheets the night I slept in it. It faded a little the day of my wedding, but not noticeable.

Sunbeds are terrible for you - spray tanning is the way to go. And I had a pedicure before the tan but a manicure after - it all was fine.

    Good luck!!

I do spray tans on brides all the time and as long as they schedule them 2 days before the wedding it is just fine and won't run on the dress.  I use an organic solution that is completely water soluble so it can't ruin anything except possibly undyed or white leather.

    It's completely mobile and cost's about $40!
