Your invitations....

What did you spend on your wedding invitations in total? Did it include your thank you's? Please include if you had a calligrapher?
Did you order more invites just in case?

Also - in terms of a "directions" card? Did you include one? Being that this is the day an age of computers and GPS systems. Not sure ettiquette wise do I have to include or should I include a directions card?

I'm still blowing into a paper bag over the total cost of mine. What in God's name am I thinkin going through a stationer? But they're soooooooo pretty. <breathe in breatheeeee out />

I would estimate I spent $900 for invites, response cards, and thank yous.  They had the return address printed on them.  That was for about 175 invites if I remember correctly?  I believe I paid about $150-$175 for calligraphy (which was computer printed but by a printer, not me).  I printed the directions and hotel information onto card stock that matched my invitations (pretty closely).  I had the directions on one side and hotel information on the other to save on weight/postage.  I think that even with all of today's technology, directions are still important for elderly guests and is just a nice gesture in general.

We paid about $250 for our invites, I ordered a little bit more because we were at 78 invites needed and we could only order them by blocks of 25. We have so many extras now. I think at least 10-20 more is good, though, because we had to resend a couple since they got lost in the mail, we had a few last minute people we realized we forgot to invite, and we used 2 for decoration, and some people frame one.

We didn't get Thank You's because I found really cute monogram blank cards that matched our invites really well at Utrecht.

Ask the hall if they have direction cards. Ours did, so we just included theirs. If you don't have that option, just make sure you include the full address on the invite so people can look it up. I think nowadays even if you do include it people will still look it up on their GPS.

ETA. I have really nice hand writing so I did all the writing on it with a nice pen. It looked fine, didn't need the calligrapher.

ours were about $450, which included 100 invitations (inner lined envelope and outer - and and extra 25 for mistakes), rsvp's, and thank you cards. we used our laser printer to print the addresses in a calligraphy print (but did use a calligrapher for the escort stones).

our venue gave us the direction cards so we just put those in, and printed hotel cards on a matching card stock ourselves.

I spent about $350 on the invites itself; all custom designed and printed. It didn't include thank you's and I ordered about 20 extra. I had a direction card, directions taken right off the website.

I spent around 350 on invitations, and another 150 on calligraphy. I bought really pretty thank you cards at Target for like $40.

I made my own directions card, so the cost was minimal.

Thanks so much to all of you! You're the best. I never thought of asking the venue if they provide cards for directions? Good idea. If not I'll just print them out myself.
Now I'm off to call them! Any little bit I can save I will.
It looks like mine will run me between $900 - $1000. They will do all the printing which is a load off my back.

We were only supposed to be inviting 120 - 130 guests tops!
    We're up to 180 now <arrghh />. I'm sure it'll come down tho -- it's got to!

    Thanks again for your input.

Yaaaahooooooooo - my venue has cards for directions. Yesssss.
Hey it's the little things that count sometimes.

I tink I may forego the whole matching of our thank you's w/ our wedding invitations and check w/ our photographer. I'm still slamming my head against my key board because it's costs like this that I had noooooooo clue the cost of such things. So now I must tweak my champagne taste w/ a beer budget and just do the basics of what I need done in terms of my invites :-)

    Thanks again everyone.

I spent $615 on 120 invitations (I mailed 111 of them). This included the invitation, rsvp card and envelope, menu choices, and accomodations card which said to go to the web site for directions. ($15 to ship so $630 including that)

I paid an additional $115 for calligraphy ($10 of this cost was shipping)

soooo.... i went the less expensive route and used Vista Print for my invitations and my thank you cards.  I had a vision in mind of what I wanted, so this gave me the ability to design them myself (although they have pre-existing designs as well).  I believe in total,, I spent about $150.  That included 100 invitations with a reception card/hotel card, directions, rsvp, and 2 envelopes; as well as 100 thank you's and envelopes.  I needed about 80 invitations, so I ordered some extras to be sure.

If you want to spend less money on your thank you's, totally look into vistaprint.  They ALWAYS have specials/sales going on- you can't beat it!

Yes, we're getting letter pressed. I just can't believe the things I swore I wouldn't care about I ended up caring about. A frggin piece of paper inviting people to our wedding but like my FI said its the beginning of what's representing us. Gooooooooooood Grief! But he's right. I'm trying to convince him we need to order more then 100 for the jic's <just in cases>. ....he wants me to cut the list down <grrrrrrrrrrr.> I can't half the list is family. I don't know how we got to 180 people and it's not like we're inviting people from like childhood we haven't seen in years.
I can only hope we land around 130. Here's hoping!

What did you spend on your wedding invitations in total? I think about $250 for the invites, response cards and envelopes.

Did it include your thank you's? No, I designed them later through Wedding Paper Divas.

Please include if you had a calligrapher? I printed all mine in a cool font on my computer at work.  Took some time to set up correctly but loved the way they came out!

Did you order more invites just in case? I think I got 25 more.

Also - in terms of a "directions" card? Did you include one? Yes, it was provided by my venue.

The total for everything came to approximately $750.

    That includes:
125 invitations, reception cards, response cards, inner envelopes. That came from   www.theamericanwedding.com

Price above also includes all stamps. Direction and hotel cards (printed at staples!) and the calligraphy from InkSpun.
