Max number of stores to register at?

What is the max number of stores you should register at?  Is three too many?

3 is fine, 4 has a tendency of coming off as gift grabby even if each registry is smaller.

Generally, around here, people seem to think three is okay and four is too many.

I'm doing 3 major stores and 1 small in town bridal store.

Pretty much the same 4 places every bride around here registers at so it's not unusual or 'gift grabby'.

I disagree with most people on here, apparently. I think four is the maximum, if there are only a few specific things on one or two of them (things that aren't available at other stores). It may come off as being picky, but not greedy. People like options.

Ditto with three. Plus, most stores couples register at have the same stuff.  Target, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Bed Bath and Beyond. Same stuff. I would say two "home stores" and one extra fun one-a furniture store, decorating store, camping store, etc.

I would say the max is 3, 4 comes off as gift grabby.
