Reception and Ceremony Ideas - Barn/Rustic/Outdoors

Hey ladies,

We're trying to find some locations for our wedding. We are going with a rustic theme so I'm thinking a barn of some type. We want to stay in the Central PA area and stay within a reasonable price range. I'm planning on making all of our decorations and so forth.

If anyone knows of places within the area that are reasonably priced please let us know!

Thanks so much!!

  • There are a lot of mixed reviews, but I am  taking a chance and booking the Country Barn in Lancaster for our Sept 2013 wedding... I fell in hardcore love with the Loft and the prices can't be beat, especially if you have a large guest list but still want something unique without a crazy budget...

I've only met with the owner once and toured the site, but we booked on the spot and will hopefully be going back to clear up some questions and go over process again in March... Not sure how far you're willing to travel.
  • Check out General Potter Farm:

Beautiful refinished old barn.  Upstairs has the old exposed beams and wood floor.  Downstairs is pretty for cocktail hour.  We booked it for our wedding next summer.  Reasonably priced, but books up fast!
  • Also check out Ironstone Ranch.  They let you bring in any outside caterer you want & its a beautiful old barn.  They also have a "miniture barn" that is perfect for the ceremony too.  My best friend just got married there and it was perfect!

  • I would also look up The Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster, it is rustic by elegant
  • Ironstone Ranch works exclusively with ONE caterer and they are extremely expensive.

Check out Lauxmont Farms - Cobblestone Courtyard.

That's where we are getting married in September!
  • I guess I will stop waiting for our response from Ironstone Ranch...we though Lauxmont was pricey!!

Please!  Keep all paperwork and communications handy.  Anything that is promised or they say they can do for you, get it in writing.
  • Check out Rockford Plantation in Lancaster. My wedding was there and I loved it. You can bring in your own caterer and do everything yourself there. We had access to it for the entire weekend for set up and tear down. Beautiful location. Barn only seats about 100 but there is lots of space for a tent if you need more room.

Regarding an earlier post, Cork Factory is very expensive.
  • We had our wedding at Pheasant Run B&B near Lancaster.  It was fairly reasonable, but seating is only for about 100 or so.  We also looked at Rockford and Landis Valley.
