AW/PIP: So my first fitting didn't go so well =(

Sorry it's such a long post. I went to Harold's today for my first fitting and the damn thing is too small!! I thought it was because I gained weight due to the cruise so I had a mini freak out while the manager and two seamstresses tried to figured out if it can be let out. They assured me that it can be done. So now instead of having to get the dress hem and bustle they now need to somehow let it out enough that it will zip up but fortunately they said I will only get charged for the hem and bustle. When I got home I weighted and measured myself. It turned out that my measurements are the same and I actually lost two lbs! This lead me to believe someone at either Harold's or San Patrick screwed up since the dress was suppose to be made to my measurements. Ugghhh...so frustrated!!! I really hope it turns out alright or they owe me a new dress.

Aw...that sucks! I got my dress at Harold's too and my dress was supposed to have been ordered custom length (it has lace detail on the bottom) and when it came in it was too long! They didn't charge me to fix that part though because it wasn't my fault, but it was super annoying...why bother measuring for a custom dress if you're not gonna make it custom? I would keep on top of them though and make damn sure they fix your dress properly, especially since it was their error!

    Your dress is beautiful though!

I think you should let them know that they messed up! Ask them to measure you again and to check their #s.

    P.S. I love your dress!!

I can't believe that happened to you too! The crazy thing is I tried on a size 4 sample from the same designer that's similar in style and it was a little big. I should of just told them to order me off the size chart. I will definitely keep on top of them.

Thanks girls! I'm so glad I went with this dress (well..minus this whole fiasco). I was so worry I wouldn't like it after not seeing it for months.

The dress is stunning on you. Wow!

That said, definitely have them re-measure you. If they screwed up (which it really sounds like they did) then they are responsible for fixing it.

I know! I'm not glad by any means this is happening to you, but it's nice to know I'm not alone! Sometimes I really think we know ourselves better than the 'professionals' in terms of sizing...I really hope they work their butts off to make this right for you! I will say they did a nice job of fixing my dress.

I go for my second fitting in 2 weeks and hopefully my dress will be perfect (at last)...when do you go back?

It stinks, but look on the bright side - they can fix it for you AND they're not charging you for it. I'm sure your 2nd fitting will be much better :)

You definitely have to let me know how your second fitting goes. They still have to measure me for hem and bustle but I was so exhausted on Friday that I told them I'll just go back on Sept 9th and hopefully the dress will be let out by then.

Ditto on PP! Stay on top of them and make sure they let it out by your next visit! I'd be so mad if I go in and it's still not let out and PLUS they have to do the bussel and other alteration. Lovely dress and gl!

I love your dress Alise! You're the reason why I even look at San Patrick . They not only measured me but also had me try on a size 4 sample of your dress to gage the proportion since both dresses are similar in cut and style.
