Venues For August 2012

We are hoping to have our wedding in August and know that most places book a year in advance,  but I'm pretty sure there has got to be ONE place in the Minneapolis area that is open in the month of August.

Anyone have ideas for a NON-traditional wedding ceremony/reception site?  Prefer it at one place and a place where we can bring our own food liquor.  A city park would be perfect.  In fact,  neither one of us wants to have it at a reception hall or community center.  A place offering indoor/outdoor areas would be ideal.

Suggestions?  ANY surrounding suburb is fine.

    We had ours at the Washington County Historic Courthouse in Stillwater. It is a gorgeous historical building. We had the ceremony on the front steps and the reception upstairs in the old courtroom/ballroom. You may use whatever vendors you want as long as they are licensed and can provide your own alcohol, but hard stuff isn't allowed (we had wine, beer, and wine coolers). A really cool thing about it is that your guests can tour the old jail at the courthouse. They have a woman in costume who will tell them all about the jail and its history. We took some really fun pictures down their with our WP. It is a relatively inexpensive place, too. We had our wedding there on a Sunday for like $750.

    You could try the Three Rivers Park District.  They have a couple different venues

    Most St Paul parks don't accept reservations for picnic areas until the first business day of Jan for St Paul residents and the first business day of Feb for non-residents.

    The more traditional wedding places (i.e. Como Conservatory, Harriet Island) are booked 13/12 months in advance - but if you're looking for something more casual check into it.

    Centennial Lakes Park in Edina lets you bring in your own vendors, but you do have to go with their beverage provider and can't serve hard liquor. They have a beautiful ampitheater to have an outdoor ceremony and an indoor building with a patio.
