  • Re: JOP before Basic?

    Hey Girl!

I know you posted this a little bit ago, but I wanted to give you my two cents. My best friend and I had been dating for two years when we finally got engaged. We had been planning on getting married since day one of our dating relationship (we said that if we weren't in it to get married, then we shouldn't be in it at all). So anyways, he decided to join the Air Force. Just 90 days after we got engaged, we got married at a small civil ceremony (courthouse/JOP/whatever you want to call it) with several friends and family members in attendance.

We opted to go to the courthouse before he leaves for BMT because after his basic training, he has advanced training (Tech School) for more than a year. He did not want to go another year without me and the only way I can go with him is if we are married. So we are dealing with being married and apart for the time being in return for being together in a few months.

You have to do what will make you happy. If a JOP wedding will leave you with regrets, then wait and have your dream wedding. If you have any questions about how my wedding went down, PM me! It was a wonderful day... and at the end of the day whether you have a big or little ceremony, you're still married to your best friend! :D

Best of luck, and congratulations on your engagement!
