Just Engaged and Proposals

Double proposals, meteorite rings, & rhodolite garnets, oh my

I got engaged and I'm so excited!!! FI and I pretty untraditional and huge science geeks. We decided we wanted to do things our way, which was buying 2 engagement bands (which will morph into wedding bands next year). We picked meteorite inlaid in titanium!!! His is a wider width for his big manly hands. The crystal patterns form when the meteorite cools over MILLIONS of years! Also, they're very rugged which I needed. Because I also wanted something colorful and playful I got a rhodolite garnet (rose cut for stackability). My plan is to wear the garnet for occasions but not daily wear (it's too soft but oh so pink). It is in the mail from England. Yay Etsy and inexpensive stones/desires.

For proposals we both got to propose and be proposed to. For a week I told people I was half engaged because I proposed 1 week ahead of him. That way we both got surprises and to plan a surprise. I made him a stuffed animal that's unique to a song we love and quirky like us. He proposed in a bonsai garden surrounded by nature and water. Both involved a lot of crying. I cried more proposing than being proposed to...huh. All in all we're crazy happy.

Up next is a cocktail party to celebrate with tons of friends.

  • My FI is going to get a metorite inlay for his wedding band. May I ask where you ordered yours from? We found a specialty dealer in AZ we're most likely going to use.

    Congrats, btw!

  • First off congratulations!

My fiance wants a meteorite band too :)

CNF who is the dealer in AZ you're considering? We may ask Krikawa if they can do a meteorite band since my ering came from them and they have the matching wedding band.

We looked at Arizona skies, and their work looked nice, but we decided to go with the titanium base so another jeweler was better for us. His name is Bruce Boone. His site is:

When I had questions the owner/designer e-mailed me directly. Since he makes them himself he was willing to customize pretty much any dimension or aspect we wanted. The turn around time was ridiculously fast (1 day from ordering to shipping). I assume he pre-makes the band and inlay pieces then combines to get what you want, or is just insanely fast!

Overall I'm super happy with what we got and EVEN HAPPIER about being engaged to my sweetie.
  • SQUEEEEE. Garnet arrived. Fits perfectly. I think they look great together even with the slight silver-to-titanium color difference. I'm super happy with this.

  • I love your style! My future husband and I feel the same way about not being so traditional and going with what our hearts' desires... meteorites, double proposals and an astrologically guided wedding date... yesss! Thank you for the encouraging post and congratulations :)
