We're planning out the music for our ceremony. We're stuck on finding songs for the Offertory and the Communion Hymn. For the Communion I really like How Beautiful by Twila Paris, but FI isn't crazy about it. Another choice I really like is On Eagles Wings. I want something that's a little upbeat, cheery, and prefer not to go with a classical piece like Panis Angelicus because the Ceremony is already filled with classical songs. What are you using/did you use for the Offertory and Communion?

Hello,

My fiance and I have just started planning a Catholic church wedding and reception in Paris for April or May, 2012. We reside in New York but fell in love with l'Eglise St.-Merri in the Marais district during a prior visit, and are thinking a River Seine dinner cruise for the reception. We would also consider a small bistro with a room that could be rented out. We want to keep it simple and although we were hoping for no more than 30 guests, we will likely have somewhere around 50 to 70 people coming.

I have already sent requests to the the church and some companies that offer cruises. Has anyone planned or attended a wedding in Paris before? I would love to hear suggestions on the planning or reception shttp://forums.theknot.com/default.aspx?path=http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-boards_reception-ideasites! Thanks in advance!

( section one took me about 2hours to compleate due to my kids and having to stop to do stuff for them). then I read you have to send in 6 charts. not so bad by our wedding is 4 months away and i am now freaking out we won't have this done in time. I Emailed them 5 months ago to see when we should start and they said 3-4 months before your wedding day..
How many opportunities are there for songs in a Catholic "non-mass" ceremony?

There are a few things I would like to squeeze in here, and I'm starting to wonder if it's possible. The song "Con Te Partiro" by Andrea Bocelli is what I would love to walk down the aisle to. My sister, who is the MOH, has a beautiful voice and I would like her to sing "Make You Feel My Love" by Adele at some point. Also, my parents and my FI's parents both used "The Wedding Song" by Peter, Paul, and Mary in their ceremonies, so it would also be nice to somehow incorporate that.

I have yet to meet with the music director at my church, and I'm sure he can answer these questions and then some, but I thought maybe some of you lovely ladies would know something beforehand :)

I am having a mass for my wedding but I haven't been to a Catholic wedding before. I've been to Christian ceremonies but not Catholic.

So I was wondering how wedding stuff is integrated into the mass. For example, does the priest process in? When? When do we say the vows, get pronounced husband and wife? Can someone give me a rundown of the order please?

My groom and I both are Catholic and both divorced. We thought his annulment would be our nightmare, but it's actually gone more smoothly than we dreamed - it's been granted in the first instance, and we should hear about the second instance. Then we hold our breath to see if it will be appealed by the other party, but so far, so good.

Mine, however, has been the nightmare, which is absolutely unfathomable to me. I was married for less than two years, we weren't married in the Catholic Church - we weren't married in any church, but in a civil court! My husband was an alcoholic and abusive, and I was clinically depressed at the time of our marriage. We thought this one would go through in no time at all.

I started my annulment in my home diocese, but we couldn't find my ex-husband. I kept trying things and they kept telling me to try something else. Finally they said they couldn't establish jurisdiction, so months later I transferred the case to the diocese where the marriage took place. In August, they told me the case had been given to the psychological expert who apparently is involved in all the cases where there are psychological factors as part of the reason for the nullity. When I called today - nearly three months later - they said the expert still has my case. It still has to go to the defender of the bond, then finally to the decision stage. Each of these stages could take two months - so I won't have my first decision until four months from...who knows when? Then it has to go to a second instance, which they said could also take four months. Without a doubt, this annulment will take longer than the marriage lasted!!

I am so discouraged, I just burst into tears when I called today. The woman I spoke with was very nice and said she would try to nudge the expert and to get the case put at the top of the lists at the next two stages, but this just is so depressing. We want to plan an October wedding, but most Catholic churches ask for six months notice before the wedding, so we just don't know what to do.

More than anything, I just needed to vent and cry a little about the whole thing...thanks for listening...

I know many of you have no clue who I am, except for my name being listed as the mod. I haven't been around since I got pregnant. I left, basically, when the board switched to the new format. I've been lurking, but I haven't posted.

I apologize. I promise to be around more now. I'm now used to the format so it doesn't bug me like it used to :D

So, basically, you are stuck with me. But let me know if you need anything. Feel free to PM me. If its time sensitive, post something letting me know I have a PM. I only check them every few days or so.

If you need anything clarified, like how bannings occur and such, feel free to ask. Overall, I'm a pretty hands off mod. I also moderate a board on the nest and a board on the bump. I try to let people be unless they blantantly violate a rule. But if you specifically ask me to, I can always take an issue to the knot gods and let them decide.

Thats all!

I heard on the news this morning that a local school district was banning Catholic rosaries in their schools. Apparently, Catholic rosaries are now being associated with gangs, and since the schools have a zero tolerance policy on gang paraphernalia, they are banning rosaries. I guess if you bring it to school, but keep it hidden, they won't take it from you or make you leave school.

Still, it just made me really sad to hear that. I had this image of my grandmother when she died holding her rosary. And now I feel like it's kind of tainted.

I went to my first RCIA class last night! I thought it was a great experience and very informative. I do have a couple questions that I was hoping some of you may be able to answer:
Seeing that I am so late starting, will I be able to complete the RCIA program in time for my wedding in July? I understand that baptism occurs over Easter, which isn't far off!
It seems that the class is a progression and I am wondering if I can catch up with the others or if I am going to have to wait until the following Easter?
