Prayer Needed

Hi everyone. Since I have got engaged so many horrible things have happened to members of my family. I am trying to enjoy planning my wedding, but I am finding it difficult.

My father had to go in for another biopsy a few weeks ago. He got his results this past Wednesday and was told that he has prostate cancer (very early stages). My father was caught by surprise because his last biospy results were clean. The doctors told him that they were not going to treat him yet as they want him to undergo and MRI to see if the cancer is coming from somewhere else. My mother is very troubled about my father not being treated.

We were scheduled to go tux shopping today and then out for lunch, but my father told me he was exhausted and did not want to offend my FI by skipping lunch since he extended the invitation. Of course the FI understood.

My father told me he has slept the past few days away because he is still in shock over his test results. I am worried about him. He is physically and emotionally spent.

Would you all please pray for my father and my family? We are anxious to see what the MRI results reveal and are worried.

I know that our God is an Awesome God, our Healer, Refuge and Comforter. I know that His hand is upon my father. Please pray that the MRI results do not detect cancer in any other part of his body.

Hi ladies!

So I've been lurking around this board for a couple weeks reading posts here and there and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Melissa, my fiance's name is Mike. We are getting married next August in the chapel at my Alma Mater. We are having a Christian ceremony followed by a reception at a local country club. We've been together for almost 3 years. He proposed at Disney World in front of the castle during the fireworks (which has been my dream since I was a little girl but I never told him... he's good haha ) . I am currently a graduate student studying counseling and I am interning as a counselor working with abused and neglected children. FI also has a Master's in Counseling and works counseling at risk children who are abused and neglected as well. I'm not sure what else to include but I really look forward to getting to know you girls and talking about our weddings!

Calling in the RSVP count to the caterer tomorrow morning.

Finished a seating chart with some help from my former roommate.

Finished the card stock backings for the programs (corner rounding and all) thanks to Grandma. She's tougher than I am!

Finishing the programs and hopefully the escort cards (instead of the seating board) tomorrow with some help from the current roommate, FMIL, and cousins from Norway.

Meeting with the planner to finalize the timeline.

SpinOff - Is Harry Potter evil?

One day my MIL told me how awful the Harry Potter series is, that they are evil and having them in your home is simply inviting the devil in. She cited their friends, who couldn't understand why their children were acting so poorly. They decided to remove Harry Potter from their home and voila! problem solved. According to her, HP is of the devil and will allow you to be demon posessed.

Has anyone else heard this line of reasoning? If you are a Christian and against Harry Potter, why? And if you are against it, are you also against other similar books/authors, such as The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, The Wizard of Earth Sea, George MacDonald's books, and A Wrinkle in Time?

I am at a Chrisian music festival and so I've been enjoying Christian music this week. I was wondering - who are some of your favorites?

We heard Casting Crowns last night and I really enjoy their music. It is more of a worship style than purely listening which I enjoyed.

Newsboys were on the first night, Skillet is tonight and Chris Tomlin tomorrow. I like all of these bands too.

Marriage Prep?

Hey....
My FI and I are looking to do pre-marriage prep in the San Antonio, TX area. My question is that we are both Christian. I am Catholic and he is Methodist. We want something that is religious, but I don't think I can do marriage prep through the catholic church if we are not getting married in the church. We are having a chaplain marry us. Any suggestions on marriage prep?

Envelopes

I hate licking envelopes. I finally found a good alternative when I was working on thank you notes this afternoon. A make-up sponge, like this:

Dip it in water and you're good for about 3 envelopes, but it doesn't soak up too much water and wash all the sticky stuff off.

Yes, we're still working on thank you notes. :/

BIG prayers -- I have received the official call from HR for the job I interviewed for before the HM. I feel good knowing the job offer is official -- but I just interviewed this morning for a teaching position in a different county and I REALLY REALLY REALLY (like REALLY) want this job. It is the school that I've been trying to find since I started teaching. Not necessarily this particular school district, but the philosophy of the school. Pray that the administration is given wisdom in their choice ... and selfishly... please pray that this is the open door God has been waiting to show me!!

Oh - and:

They're going to call me by the end of the day on Tuesday - my appointment to sign with the other county (2nd choice) is Wednesday at 1pm. Hoping that's enough time to hear from my 1st choice!!

No Alcohol??

I am the MOB and I think I may have a small problem. From the beginning of the planning both my daughter and her future husband have said no alcohol at the reception and that is 100% ok with us. Now the problem we are 3 months out and about at the end of the budget and my future son in law is hinting that beer would be good at the reception. Also should I have included in the invitations that this is a no alcohol reception.

1. How old were you when you gave your life to Christ? 22

2. Were you baptized/ at what age? Yes, 24

3. Who/what lead you to learn who God is? My friend brought me to church when I was 19 and the spark was lit. It look a few years of attending church and small groups to understand the concept of God and His will before I could give my life to Him.

4. Do you and your DH/FI/BF share in any fellowship/ministry/prayer/Bible study together? FI and I attend church together and we always make sure we hold hands and pray together at least once a day. We always report back answered prayers and praise reports.

5. Do you have special gifts/talents that you know God gave you and you use for His glory? After I was baptized, I was SO SO excited about God, to get into my faith and understanding of him and I wanted to just share Him with everyone. This is when I started to understand the gift of evangelism. I also have an unending/unwavering amount of patience for children. I try to use this by volunteering to teach Sunday school or do VBS.

6. Anything else you wanna add/share? Although I completely love to spend time in worship and prayer with FI, I have always noticed in myself that I just completely love having Christian women as a support for me. I joined a women's small group in the beginning of my walk with Christ and they were amazing in helping me grow and learn so much. And I am thankful for all of you women who act in the same manner.

I just don't understand how someone could be pregnant for 9 months and never know. I know that there is a TV show about this but I've never watched.

Has anyone ever known anyone who didn't know they were pregnant until they were well into their pregnancy?
