Did anyone else participate in this today? The TOMS Campus Group at my school planned a pretty extensive event. I'm really excited that I got to be apart of it. :)

I went home after my classes yesterday and drove back this morning, so I got to spend some time with my mom, FI's mom and the wedding planner.

I was sitting with FI's mom and waiting for my mom to get there and we started talking about what FI and I actually want. FI's mom was concerned that even though my mom was saying, "We want what Sarah wants" that it wasn't actually happening.

There's been a fairly large drama about the time of the ceremony and how the colors I chose (wine red, black and white) dictate that. My mom and the wedding planner had pretty much forced me into an evening, indoor wedding even though FI and I have always wanted a late-morning outdoor wedding. When I told FMIL about this, she kind of freaked out and when my mom arrived she put her foot down and wouldn't let it go until my mom agreed to call the wedding planner so we could all talk about it.

I ended up getting my way. We're having a mid-morning, outside wedding. I did change my colors, but because the only thing that's been done in the wine red is Save the Dates, it's not that big of a deal.

I'm soooo relieved!

about my dad. he told me today that there's a 'large' mass near his tail bone. Which could be cancer or just a tumor. They are running some test. So we are hoping and praying that its non-cancerous and that if he stops taking his meds it will go away .

Just curious how many of you registered for special ocassion China in addition to everyday dishes, what you chose, and why you decided to register for it.

We did not. We're not at all fancy people and knew it was unlikely we'd ever use it. My grandma also had a set and I knew eventually that would make its way to us, so if we did decide we wanted some, there ya go. Plus, I knew way too many people who registered for it and got 3 place settings, the gravy boat and soup tureen. H didn't want to do it because he didn't want to store the stuff.

We did get nicer everyday dishes though. We have the Noritake Colorwave in graphite. I'd like to get some new pieces; they came out with some different plates and bowls after we got married.

Two more days until I turn in my notice. It is making me a little crazy.... First, I want to be a rockstar at work and make sure my boss misses me (I have been sorely under appreciated and underpaid for the last 2 years). Next, I can't focus and spend all kinds of time on here and looking at wedding stuff... Followed by a little panic about the actual conversation where I quit.

well at my purity group last night a guest speaker told us that they are starting up a Christian dating website on April 23rd called ondaysix.com.

my church is HUGE and nationally known (i go to Bethel Church in Redding, Ca. Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton are my pastors..they do conferences all over the world and have written many many books. We have a school of ministry with over 1,000 ppl from all over the world!) and we are starting a Christian dating website. soo crazy! i wasnt really interest because...well...i am getting married. lol.

BUT! the launch party is April 23rd and they are having ANJELAH JOHNSON come!!! sooo excited! i am definately gonna go! lol. (:

Alright ladies, what kinds of inspirations do you have to share today? Anything from this weekend, your own quiet time, a moment with someone you know?

I need to read them... I'm feeling discouraged. We have 2 more weeks of class until spring break at my new teaching post. Every day it's "2 periods at a time" and I plug onwards. TWO more periods today, then a planning break. I have GOT to make it. God says to cast our cares upon him, but for some crazy reason, I keep wanting to hold on to my burdens. I am praying that I release my burdens to Him and allow God to keep me strong through my day.

Is there something you can share that has inspired you to keep on, keeping on?

Talk me down - I don't really need these shoes right?

and I'd love to get them in silver too. Plus there's a pair of purple and silver sequin converse I'd like to get. I wear them to work; I can get away with a lot since I teach theatre. They all expect me to be weird!

I'm so over it. Yesterday I had my shower at FMILs house. All anyone could talk about was bringing plus ones. I was so stressed the whole shower because that is literally what everyone talked about for about for about an hour out of the 3 hour shower. These are all people that I don't know - they are family friends of FIs parents and are all friends with each other - she invited over 70+ people some with "low/no" probability, and they are rsvping yes, which is also stressing me out. And now they want Susie-16year old to bring a plus one and are miffed that I didn't include that on the invitation.

FI stuck up for my family this morning after I left and FMIL said to FI this morning, "well Joys bridesmaid is bringing her boyfriend (who happens to be a close friend), why can't Susie 16 year old bring her boyfriend? That's a double standard"

I know everybody has their opinions about guests and bringing plus ones but FIs family seems like they just.don't.get.it. It's about money, and it's about max capacity in the venue, and they just want to keep adding people without us getting RSVPs to say no. I have told them myself and FI has told them its about money and its about max capacity but they think that their version of etiquette trumps logic, and they are banking on people saying no before we even get the RSVP back!

I'm just so tired of fighting about guest lists, and I'm looking forward to the day of the wedding and the planning being OVER. I thought my shower was supposed to be a day where I relaxed and opened gifts and people asked me about our plans for the future but intead it just turned into the most stressful day of the wedding planning yet. I looked at photos of myself from yesterday and I don't even look happy or cute, I just look stressed. :(

Sorry this is so long, but if you think of it just pray for me - I don't understand why this is so hard for them to get. I'm so frustrated and it feels like nobody gets how stressful this is - even people who have been through this in the past! You'd think people who had been through it would understand! :(

And I passed out. {ETA: Not because of the price.} I remember asking if I could sit down for a minute, and then I woke up in mom's lap. And I left a nice handprint smear on the mirror on the way down.

I didn't eat breakfast, I had a Sprite to drink, and I let them pin it way too tight on the sides. I thought I could breathe. My body thought differently.

Anywho, the seamstress got some water and she had some Teddy Grahams in her lunch box, I got back up, they took the pins out, and we tried again. It felt much better the second time around.

So, ladies, EAT SOMETHING before your fitting. I'm almost glad that I passed out today, and we didn't find out it was too tight, you know, at the altar. Because that would have been on video. Oi.

Pictures are from after the passing out--the pin across the top is to remind them to backstitch that so it lays flat against my chest.

FI's Best Man is now engaged to one of my Bridesmaids!!!! I don't know how he proposed or anything, but we're both just so excited for them. They've been dating since high school and they're graduating in December. He's majoring in Youth Ministry, and she's majoring in Special Ed. They're like our clones...2 years younger. Last time FI talked to him, they were thinking January or May for the wedding, but now they can actually start planning! I'll definitely point her here. :) SO EXCITED!!!!!

Okay, I am excited again :)

So today Fi and I did our first premartial counseling session and it went amazing. I am excited to get with the pastor again and already we are learning sooo much. Afterwards we went to the mall and right before we left I picked out perfume for the wedding day. Fi has a very sensitive nose and so I wanted him to be there so that what ever I picked didn't give him a headache. After that my parents sat down and talked about wedding stuff with us. Things are actually coming together :) 9 weeks to go and I couldn't be any more excited about planning my wedding

So a good friend of FI's moved back to Florida recently. He was a typical bachelor type nice guy but not really religious or anything. When he first moved here about 2 months ago FI had invited him to church to just get to know some people since he had moved a few years ago and really didn't know anyone. He actually came, which was kind of surprising because church wasn't really his thing. FI invited him a few other times, sometimes he came, sometimes he didn't. He would go out with our group after church though and really seemed to enjoy it. Well tonight at the end of service, as they were singing the last song, FI's friend came over to where we were sitting! Apparently he had come on his own, without FI inviting him, without even telling FI he was coming, and sat there the whole service by himself even though knows where we sit and could easily have found us...! I was so excited to see him! So I asked FI on the way home if he'd invited him (at that point I wasn't sure) and FI got all excited saying that he hadn't. He says he feels like he's got an opening now to talk to his friend to kind of hear his thoughts, see where he stands on it. I'm so excited that he could be on the way towards a whole new life!!!

Having my first shower today....

To hymn or not to hymn?

I come from a "traditional" church background, with organ music and hymns. My fiance comes from a "contemporary" church background, with a worship band and the same songs you hear on the Christian radio stations. We've figured out most of the music for our ceremony -- the processional and recessional will be traditional songs played on the organ, and then, during the ceremony, the worship band from his church is going to play/sing the Switchfoot version of "Only Hope."

Now, we are trying to figure out if we should include a hymn that our guests would sing during the ceremony. My fiance isn't a big fan of hymns because he can't read sheet music and tries so hard to figure out the melody that he can't pay attention to what he is actually singing about. He is afraid it will be the same way with a lot of our guests. I can see his point, but then, I sort of feel like it wouldn't be a worship service without a hymn! What do you guys think? Any ideas for hymns that are meaningful but simple, maybe with a recognizable tune? Or do you think we should just not include a hymn?

We have chosen all of our music! Music is really important to me, so I am excited! I wanted to do more contemporary songs for the ceremony but I know my mom and FI's mom wanted to hear some traditional, so... we are doing both. We are just having a pianist play everything (just piano, no words...except the solo- it will be piano and voice). PS- from our selections, you can tell I love Mercy Me haha.

The next 7 hours of my job at school aren't going to be easy and I know you will understand if I have to take a nap before you come over. You always do. Thinking about the $$ I'm making as a full-time teacher in a miserable job versus a part-time teacher in a fantastic job, I know the $$ is worth it, and we'll need it this summer, but I know that you support me in looking for a new position and I just wanted to say thank you and I can't wait until we can be husband and wife forever..... :-)
