I told you all back in January that work was not going well and that I really wanted to quit. Friday, after a lot of thought and prayer, I finally have a peace about leaving. I plan to put in my two weeks notice on Monday. Even though I know I'm doing the right thing, I am soooo scared about what's going to happen. I mean it's fast food. The turn over rate is ricudlously high and so leaving should be no big deal. For the past 5months I have not given myself the option to quit and now that I not only have the option but I'm taking is leaving me with a lot of doubt. I know I'm doing the right thing I know leaving will be best for me in the end and I know I am following God but it's not always easy. Thanks for listening to me vent :)

So my fiance and I plan on having a hymn during our ceremony. We have been looking and looking and finally found one we both love and agree on. It is "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" Chris Tomlin sings a version of it.
My mom on the other hand is all up in arms about it. She keeps saying it is dull and not a happy song. Does it seem like a good song if you have heard it before? It is worshiping and thats what we want because there are some people that might never step foot in a church again. I think this covers it well. I know my fiance might be frustrated if we have to go back and look again but I just want someone elses opinion since my mom has been so frustrating by complaining about it.

We have six bridesmaids and groomsmen in our bridal party... we chose our closest friends to be involved, friends we know we can count on to be there for us no matter what....

Welll weddings really have a way in bringing out people truse character.. any how thats anlother story..

One of the groomsmen the tallest one, also the one with the biggest feet ( i said that to reinforce the following) we had all the suits ordered along with all the shoes so everyone will be uniformed... Now my FI close friend from church is saying he cannot attend since he works on one of the smaller private islands and his celebrity boss is coming in from US/Europe on the night of the wedding... therefore he cannot attend... this is my FI friend since they were in diapers.... Gm (head gardener) says his manager said he can either choose to attend a party or keep his job.. which i think th emanager is mean... I do not know if the GM is afraid to state that it is not just another normal wedding but the fact that he is in the bridal party and the clothes are already ordered etc.. plus he has the biggest feet either 13 or 14 where are we going to find someone to fit that ...

everything was going soooo well until this ... any advice how to handle this ... FI is crushed that his friends will not be there ... there is a group of them from church four of them and the other two cannot make it for valid reasons... one is on a scholarship attachment in the US and because of VISA restrictions cannot leave and the other is also unable to come for other valid reasons.

any advice

Yay for wireless! The church we're staying at doesn't have wireless, and TK does not like my iPhone. Today is our "day off." It's finals week on the campus we're at, and today was a non-instructional day, so we're all hanging out at Starbucks a few miles from campus and enjoying the free wireless and a good cup of coffee.

We've had two days on campus so far. We're doing this "campaign" in addition to our simple contact evangelism. The campaign (heh, such a funny word) is called "Behind the Mask" and in the union building, we have a large sign that says "Who are you behind the mask?" and we've had a couple of different questions for students to answer at a table. Monday was the same question, and then yesterday we used "What masks are you wearing?" A couple of team members stay at the table and engage students who come up to answer the question. Those conversations have been awesome. It doesn't take long for them to take a spiritual turn and we're able to share Jesus with them.

The rest of the team goes out in pairs on campus and talks to students. I've been at both the table and out on the campus and I have to say that both of those activities are good and God has been so faithful in both of them.

Please, please, please continue to pray for our team.

We're encountering soo much brokenness on this campus. Just yesterday one of the guys and I talked to a woman who approached us and within five minutes was telling us about the financial problems she and her husband are facing, the pain they're still dealing with after their son died last July, and how unhappy she is with the Mormon church she's attended since birth. I cried with her as she shared her pain, and I've cried multiple times since then. God is truly breaking my heart for people. He's given me so much compassion and empathy for the students here.

The days are long (8 AM is usually when we arrive at campus and yesterday the campus group we're partnering with had their weekly meeting and so we didn't leave campus until 10 PM), and the emotional brokenness we're encountering is draining us emotionally and then physically. Pray for endurance.

And lastly, again, just for safety. We've had to deal with people who are really angry about what we're doing. We trust God with our physical safety, but prayers for that would be great.

Thanks, ladies! I miss being here everyday. Hope everything is going well for you with your wedding planning. Also, I'm realizing how long this. So, if you made it through it, props to you! :)

I had wanted to write this up since Saturday night service, but the only time I've had internet is for a little bit at work (working on school stuff) and at FH's house (spending time with FH...). So I thought I'd share it now.

Our pastor spoke on Joshua 4 last weekend. It was a very short message because he wanted to focus on something else. In this passage is when the Israelites carry the stones representing each tribe and build a monument to mark where they crossed with the ark. When we entered the service, we were given a brick (one per family). Then the pastor spoke shortly on the significance of this passage and that we were going to be building an monument that would make people stop and ask "What is that?" and each family would place a brick that would represent the promises of God and the burdens we have been delivered from. Then they played worship music and each family went up and placed their bricks, which created the shape of a cross. This monument is going to be placed outside the church building. It was a very emotional experience, and then particulary for me because FH and I were only given one brick (one per family...!) and it was the first time we were recognized as a family. It was just a really great message and thought I would share.

I'm going through "Live Intimately: Lessons from the Upper Room" in my Quiet Times right now and Philippians 2:3-11 was part of the reading for today. I've read Philippians, I've taught a small group on Philippians, and I still find something new every time.

ESV: Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interest of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I also love how The Message words this passage:

1-4If you've gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if His love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

5-8Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of Himself. He had equal status with God but didn't think so much of Himself that He had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, He set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, He stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn't claim special privileges. Instead, He lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.

9-11Because of that obedience, God lifted Him high and honored Him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth—even those long ago dead and buried—will bow in worship before this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that He is the Master of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father.

Have you read anything lately that you've seen differently now than the last 27 times you read it? Or has anything just stuck out to you lately?

from being sick for 3 workdays in a row (started Friday AM). I'm apprehensive about going back and not feeling 100%, but I think I would say I'm at about 80%, so I'm just going to push through it. I have done a lot of lesson planning today to prep for the next three days, and I still have what I had planned for Friday, so I'm going to pull out what I can and do everything I can to keep my "new" students engaged in class.

I called my dept. chair and one of my co-workers today to smooth things over. While I am not 100% liking this new job, it's a LOT better pay and benefits than where I was, and I just HAVE to stay focused on that. My FI called me a bit ago to remind me that he isn't totally in love with his job, but every day he goes to work he says it's for his "family" and he keeps that at the front of his mind. So, I need to remember that too!

Annnd.. off to shower, before meeting with the photographer. FI will be here soon. Perhaps I should clean up the house too... :-)
