I'll cut right to the chase ... no more than five of our guests have meal requirements:

1. Halal

2. Kosher

3-4. Vegetarian

5. Kosher Vegetarian

As my caterer only allows for one extra meal choice, aside from the Fish & Beef (which do not meet the criteria according to the caterer) ... any suggestions for a dish that will fulfill all of those?

Hijabi Wedding Dress

Hi Everyone,

I bought my beautiful wedding dress and it is almost here but I need some help/ideas on how to cover it up in order to wear my hijab/scarf at the wedding. My dress's style is sleeveless with a sweetheart neckline, so basically my shoulders and upper chest are bare. I need something to cover up that doesn't take away or hide the dress's beauty because it has all that bead-work at the top. Should I go with a basic body shirt underneath, or take it to a seamstress/professional that can do that? Any suggestions or places? I live in MD so anything there would be good, but I don't mind traveling to where they have these services.

If you were a hijabi bride I'd love to see what you had done for your wedding dress, especially if you were in a similar circumstance.

They have an all female team also for the muslim brides and they also have their in house makeup artists who do hair also. They do not have any persian dancers which I wanted to get. My fiance is persian and I am syrian. I am trying really hard to incorporate both of our cultures into the wedding but I don't know what to do about the music! I could get a DJ which I think would be great but my mom and fiance really want a band. Trouble is, where can I find a band or a singer that would cater to both the arabs and the persians in the party? If anyone can help, I would be truly grateful!!!

Hi!! My fiancee and I are looking for someone to perform our Ketab for us. We are new at this and don't have much family support. We are getting our marriage license here in Floirda and hope to find an Imam to perform the Ketab for us. Our actual, reception "wedding" will take place later on next year, but we are really trying to do Ketab ASAP, as we are buying a home etc. The most important is that we are married in the eyes of God.

Is there anything we are missing? Can we just find a local mosque and have them do it there? After the ceremony is done (Ketab) is there anything we need to register here in Florida to denote that we've been married?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to combine a Muslim/Christian ceremony? I am Christian and my fiance is Muslim. We thought about having two ceremonies but decided it would be nice to combine the important aspects from each into one ceremony instead. We're not sure how that will look yet. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have always imagined wearing a white gown on my wedding, but I want to figure out how to incorporate the traditional red gown a Pakistani bride wears. Should I do an outfit change? Just incorporate elements of the red into my gown? Or maybe it is best to do two ceremonies. I'd love to hear how others have planned their Muslim/Christian weddings!

So this is my first post in here. I recently got engaged to my habibi, but I'm having trouble finding a good selection of 'Muslim' bridal gowns. I'm a convert to Islam and there aren't any 'muslim marriage' resources here except for the internet. I wear the hijab so I need a dress that is modest (but beautiful!) with long sleeves. I keep seeing the same 8 or so Muslim gowns online, so I was hoping to get suggestions on other websites or places to look.

Hello there,

I'm new to the site. I'll be the first of my sisters to be married so this whole experience will be a first for my fam.

I'm Egyptian (born and raised here in NY) and my fiance is Turkish. We're planning on having a second wedding in Turkey with his fam, so this first wedding here in NY is pretty much for me and my fam.

Most of my co-workers and friends are non-Muslims so a majority of my exposure to weddings and wedding planning will be of no use to me here.

My mom has past away, so what I really need is for a Muslima to help advise me on what to do and how to prepare for the wedding. Venue suggests and suggestions on what to wear and where to shop would be greatly appreciated :)

My dad has been kinda winging it and but is also pushing me to rely more on my fiance's mom and sisters for advice, but I'm still trying to bridge the current language gap.

Hello I am planning a weddding for me an American Christian and my fiance a Palestinian Muslim. We have already had an Islamic ceremony and are married in Islam, we will not have the legal ceremony in either a church or mosque so at to not offend any guests. We are getting legally married in New Orleans and we have been discussing alcohol. I know that we are not to serve alcohol at the reception, so we have been discussing having the ceremony, while we are taking pictures with family those who would like to drink could go to an area with alcohol being served during this time and those who would not would go to an area with tea, coffee etc. I am not sure if we would be able to have a separate venue for the ceremony and reception however. Anyways any ideas, suggestions, or thoughts would be more than helpful!

Hey Ladies!I have quite a few beautiful and brand new and once worn Pakistani/Indian Clothes to sell. Also a handful of saris.
I am clearing out my wardrobe simply because I do not get the opportunity to dress up in fancy Desi clothes! Most of this is from my In Laws and family as part of my traditional wedding trousseau. I appreciate them getting it for me, but I really don't get the chance to wear clothes this fancy.
I am hoping I can make some money and use it towards something I will need and at the same time maybe help you girls find some gorgeous partywear/bridal wear at decent prices. :)
These clothes would be perfect for pre wedding festivities, bridesmaids, or for gifts.
I am about 5' 5". and 145 lbs (weight has fluctuated since I got married from 130 all the way to 165) , the clothes have some wiggle room as well if you needed to get them altered, and they are not skin tight either. I will post the measurements also since some of them are not exact to my measurements.
In addition to the clothes, I have artificial jewelery , matching party purses and shoes (all gifted! blessed with sweet in laws) I wear shoes 9 to 10.

I'm engaged to a Bangladeshi native and I'm American... but neither place is where we'll be living. We're hoping to live in London, England. I'm having trouble figuring out all the forms and such. Does anyone have any advice? I only lived outside of the USA once for a semester of college and it was in Australia/New Zealand... other Western countries so Bangladesh is not something I'm familiar with yet.
