SIL lives way beyond her means. She does some contract work and finds herself short and asks FIL for money. DH supports FIL and MIL, so he is funding SIL's shopping and going out indirectly.

When we went in November for the wedding, SIL told me that she will have the same wedding and DH will pay for it. I didn't say anything because I was expecting DH would have to pay for her wedding. (I just hope she will get married, and someone else can support her.) Then she asked me about getting her a green card. I told her I can't get her one, but I was surprised she would ask outright. DH had given FIL a really nice digital camera as a gift. SIL took it (DH had gotten her a new ipod).

In December, DH's grandmother needed a cataract operation and DH scheduled and paid for it. SIL sent him a really rude email saying he shouldn't spend money on their grandmother! DH was really really mad. I was shocked! Who says that?

Yesterday, SIL sent DH an email asking for $750 for her savings. DH said no he doesn't have extra money right now (and why should we contribute to her savings anyway?). She said he owes her because that's what she spent on her outfits for our wedding. He told her that was her choice (MIL had even put aside one of the saris given for me and had the blouse made for SIL, but she didn't like it because it was too traditional).

She is finally seriously considering a guy she met (in an arranged way) and I really hope she doesn't scare this one off!

Okay, end of rant...

Since I am going to be staying with my boyfriend's parents during my extended stay in London, I want to know what I can bring them as I can't come empty handed. I want to bring them something to say thank you for having me. Every time my boyfriend comes to visit, they send so many wonderful things, but they're basically whatever I had requested. What can I bring them, as in a gift for their house, that they may like? Nothing too fragile as I'm afraid it'd break.

Any ideas? They're cute, the only thing Aunty asked for was my foundation (Cargo) as she and I are a very close match and she loved it when I applied it on her for a family wedding.

You know it bugs the crap out of me when people comment on things when they aren't part of it. FI aunt and Uncle came over to his folks place on Saturday to "discuss" wedding things! FI was there, but I was out of town seeing my nephews. He calls me telling me they had their bar for their kids weddings open all night and we should do the same. For their son's wedding it was $30,000 and daughter's it was $20,000 (for just the bar). Now FI is all upset because he thinks the amount we have set up for the bar isn't enough. I'm sorry, but I'm really annoyed they would even expect us to pay that much for just the bar. Just because you thought it was crazy imporant to do it doesn't mean I do. FFIL doesn't want to offer too much since he doesn't plastered drunk people and we know that is exactly what we would get with a full open bar. Sorry just pissed.

The other thing that annoyed me, but wasn't as bad is there is some ritual we are suppose to do after the wedding before I'm allowed to offically move into FI's house. So FILs said after the Honeymoon we should come stay with them for two nights and we can do the ceremony on Saturday. FI said no to that one. I'm all about Tradition, but this one was just a little too much for me.

I had to take my son’s wheelchair out of the car today so I could fit baby shower gifts (my mom warned me ahead of time that there were some big things). I shut the front door behind me so Scamp wouldn’t get out. I’d left the front passenger car door open to put my purse in and took the chair out of the back hatch. I took it inside and went back out for the ramp, shutting the front door again on my way out. I took the ramp in and then went to say goodbye to Scamp, but I couldn’t find him anywhere. I checked the whole house, the yard, looked up and down the street, didn’t see him. He’s microchipped, so I went to get my phone from my purse in the car to call Home Again and report him missing.

And guess where the little rascal was? Sitting in the back seat with his duck, wagging his tail. He must have sneaked out when I was parking the wheelchair and had my back turned for half a second, and jumped in the car before I got the ramp out.

I took him back in the house, hugged him, and told him never to scare me like that again. I’m just glad he didn’t run to the street. We live on the corner of a busy main road and an equally busy side street, and if he'd gone past car into the road it could have been disastrous.

So I have two hair stylist I'm trying to decide on. One would come to the house and do everyone's hair. The other we have to go to them, but the place is literally 5 mins from my house. The price is almost the same, a little more for coming to my house one, and our house is a decent size I don't think it's huge. I'm worried people won't have enough room to do everything. If you had to decide which one would you pick??

Is anyone else following the Cricket World Cup? I'll be honest and say that I had no idea, well, little to no idea, that is was being played now in India. But it was inescapable while I was there earlier this month.

I spent the better part of a Saturday watching the India vs. South Africa game and got caught up in the "drama" of the game. I was so mad that India lost the game in the last few overs!

It was good to see them win yesterday, but I really doubt whether they will make it very far past the quarter finals.

I've been going gaga over wines lately since going to a few winery's and doing wine tastings. Are you ladies avid wine drinkers? If so, what's your favorite? I've always been a white wine but after trying merlot, i'm starting to get a feel for red wine. :)

Hi Everyone

Based on another thread about invites....Do you want kids at your wedding?

I didn't really care either way, but I realized that too many kids at the wedding can't be good due to safety reasons. We were watching a part of our wedding reception video and found that kids were running behind our head table/background set up and it got tugged at many times. Additionally, if they run around where the lights they may run into them (those lights are dangerously hot!)

If you do have kids, make sure you have some activty for them. It will keep them from getting hurt and also keep them occupied.

If you haven't introduced yourself please let us know you are out there!

I confess I don't want to give the girl who has her wedding the weekend before mine any more ideas. It was fine when she was first planning and I gave her my vendors to check out, but she's booked almost all of them! I have her, her FI(who I know), and her sister all asking who my vendors are.
Granted our weddings will be really different, but am I wrong for finding it sightly unsettling?
