Hello All,

I just bought my dress this weekend and I had to share how pleased I was with the place I found! I'm not the type of person who will spend hundreds of dollars on a dress, so I've been shopping around. I was likely going to get a $300 dress at David's Bridal, but it was completely plain, with no beading, design or any train.

Then I learned about a place called Tickled Pink in Carmichael that is a consignment shop and up-scale thrift store. They had tons of gorgeous wedding dresses from about size 6 to 14. I went there last Saturday and the owner said she'd gotten some of the gowns from a dress shop that had closed and the others are gently used.

I found the perfect dress there! After shopping around at different stores, I'm pretty sure this dress was at least a $700-$800 gown. It's a Michelangelo dress and I got it for $200, with a shawl! I'm so pleased and my mom and I both knew it was the perfect dress when I put it on.

I highly reccommend this place. It's tiny but very cute and the owner is super nice.
Here's the information on it: Tickled Pink, 7901 B Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael CA 95608. Their phone number is (916) 971-1990. Happy gown hunting!

Attached is a picture of the shawl that goes with my dress, which shows some of the beautiful detail work that is also found on my dress.

I have had a horrible experience with V.Sattui and I am taking the time to write this out because I do not want any other brides having this same horrible experience my husband and I have had. Pat Kruger and Kelly will be very helpful in the beginning when you are considering the property and signing your contract but after that, they pretty much wipe their hands clean of everything. I have also read in other reviews to double check your contract before signing it because there have been mistakes written into contracts before that have been easily overlooked by the couple. It is now nearly 6 months past our wedding date and we are STILL waiting for our deposit check. Let me clarify that they 1. First sent the check to the wrong address. 2. Then they addressed it to the wrong person.3. Then when I finally cashed the check at the bank, they had STOPPED PAYMENT on the check and we had to pay a $10 fee to our bank for this. OUT OF OUR OWN POCKET. We also ordered an Imperial Bottle of Wine to be signed by our guests. 1. Sattui sends the wrong bottle.2. Satuii sends the FedEx guy to the wrong address (I should also note that they sent the FedEx guy to the WRONG STATE-- how does that happen?????)3. Sattui expects us to send them the wrong bottle back without providing a receipt. Why would we voluntariliy want to be liable for an expensive IMPERIAL sized bottle of wine?? This back-and-forth goes on for MONTHS. It started in June and it is now late October!!!!! I live abroad and am spending 7 days in the States. I have physically stayed at home for 2.5 days now waiting for the deposit check they supposedly overnighted. I waited ALL DAY Tuesday for the check. It never arrived (again-- I only have 7 days on my vacation and I'm wasting time staying at home waiting for this package that I need to sign for). The VP/General Manager of V. Sattui, John Winkleahaus, told us that the check would arrive on Wednesday so I have waited home all day for it.It still has not arrived so I called them to find out what was going on-- they forgot to send it and keep apologizing.Pat Kruger has no manners when dealing with her brides ONCE she gets the initial wedding deposit from you. This is non-refundable so her work is done in other words once she gets this deposit from you. She has the audacity not to hear me out and ask what it is that I want-- when it is crystal clear that I'm trying to get my deposit back.If any brides have any questions about V. Sattui, please do not hesitate to ask me. I agree that the venue is beautiful... but dealing with their staff has been horrible to say the least and leaves such a sour taste in my mouth when I think about our wedding due to their mistakes and lack of manners/customer service.

After dinner we have the option to pay by the drink or continue with the unlimited per hour rate. My mom and I are trying to figure out whats the most budget friendly but also continue the open bar all night. We have a feeling the "older guests" will take off after dinner and people may slow down on the alcohol consumption. The prices at our venue are around $5-6 for beer/wine and $7-8 for hard alcohol per drink. Should we do by the drink after dinner is over? Any suggestions would be great!!

This is a review of our experience of having our wedding cocktails & dinner reception at the Sheraton Palo Alto, and working with Kristina Tobin as our wedding coordinator.

We were looking for an indoor venue that was close to our wedding ceremony at the Memorial Church, andwe found many positive reviews on Yelp about the Sheraton and specially about Kristina, so we decided to check it out.

From the moment we met Kristina, we know that if we had our reception there, it would be in good hands. She was friendly, easy to work with, organized, and extremely professional. Every positive comments about her that I read was true!! She answered all of our questions thoroughly and made some great recommendations. One of the main reason that we chose the Sheraton was because of Kristina.

I enjoyed working with Kristina because she listened to all of our concerns and addressed everything appropriately. During the sales phase, she quoted us the total costs - including gratuity and taxes - so we could have an accurate estimate of the total costs of the reception. During the planning phase, she worked with us on the dinner menu, other vendors, and the reception agenda. Between my husband and I, we sent many emails to Kristina, and she promptly responded to all of our emails. And on the day of the wedding, she decorated the room accordingly and everything when smoothly as planned (as I knew it would under her management). In addition, she was able to secure a room for us at the Westin, and we arrived to find chocolate covered strawberries and champagne waiting for us in our suite!

One last note is that I was able to use a conference room to get ready in the morning, and we also used a banquet room at the Westin to take some photos in the morning because it was raining outside. Everything turned out well and it was very nice of the hotel to be so accommodating to us. I am so glad to have a "plan B" since having a wedding in March was unpredictable weather-wise.

In summary, we had a wonderful experience at the Sheraton and working with Kristina. Our guests had a great time, and everything worked beautifully. It truly made our day less stressful and more enjoying knowing that we were in good hands at the Sheraton.

Additional details: We selected the "Willow" package. Our main courses included the Hawaiian Sea Bass and the Beef Tenderloin. I thought the food at the reception turned out better than when we did the tasting (before we signed the contract). We were not able to sample the food at the cocktail hour, but everything turned out well. We selected the crab cakes, coconut shrimp, and cheese plate during the cocktail hour. We selected the cake from Satura, which turned out to be excellent! (Our guest had the most comments about our cake.) One of the main concern that I had was having an open bar (because I know friends who went over budget by 10K because of an open bar), but everything worked out just fine and we were even under budget in our estimate. Since most of my guests were from out of town, we negotiated group rates at the Sheraton and at the Westin. Most of our friends thought spending the extra $ was well worth the cost.

Hi all! My fiance & I have found a reception venue we both really like however the venue is outside only & they have no rain plan. My man thinks we need one however I disagree. It will be in Fortuna & Weott, CA in July of next year, and according to my memory & weather history July is the diest month of the year with a 0.1" average rainfall. We get alot of rain & fog earlier on in the year up here as we are technically a rainforest climate, but once summer hits in June things generally clear up and rain showers are rare, especially the farther you get from the coast. What do you think? Would you have a backup plan for the outdoor reception if your average rainfall that month was only 0.1" (if you're wondering June is 0.8" & Aug is 0.3")?? Any advice would be appreciated!! =)

We are looking for an affordable reception venue in the Santa Cruz to Monterey area, for about 100 people. I got my fiance to agree to have the wedding in California instead of Missouri by promising him ocean, so that's a necessity. I think as long as it is close enough to take pictures on the beach, he will be satisfied! We've already looked at the Monterey Marriott, The Best Western Beach Resort, and Chaminade. Does anyone in the area know of any place that's a little bit off the beaten path? An interesting building, different kind of place that will allow wedding receptions? Any input would be helpful! Thanks!
