Hi! I am looking for a venue to hold a ceremony and reception that includes some lodging as well. Ideally I'm looking for a location that would give us exclusive use for a few days to a week, but any suggestions will be helpful. The Holly Farm in Carmel is an example of what I am looking for, but I would prefer something South of this. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate them!! Thanks!

beach rehearsal dinner

Does anyone know of a beach that we could rent for our rehearsal dinner. We thought it might be cool to have a laidback, catered beach dinner. Not sure if we would have to actually rent a beach or if we could just pick a good beach to go to? We haven't been in Orange County very long so not sure if this could be an option? Any thoughts?

Photography Help - Desperate!!

I am planning my July, 2011 wedding and am having trouble finding a photographer that I like that falls within my budget. I have set aside $1500 for photography and really only want 1 photographer for 8 hours, images edited, and a copy of them on cd. I would love to get an album, but realistically cannot afford it at this time.

Can anyone give me a recommendation for a photographer that did your photos within this budget? I know that a lot of you have photographers that you love...but I only want those who you know can meet my budget. Thanks so much!!

Hello Fellow Brides,

I just had one of the worse vendor experiences ever that I have to share with you. I was looking for a DJ for my upcoming wedding and had the misfortune of hiring The DJay Company in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. So I booked with them and was promised I could pick my own DJ, which I did. I find out 3 months before my wedding, from a third party, that the DJ I selected quit. The owner, Jay didn't inform me at all and instead of calling me and giving me another option of DJ he writes himself in to play my wedding. No offense but he really wasn't the style of DJ I would want. When I confronted him about my disappointment with his behavior, he got extremely rude with me. Even called my mother. Eventually I selected another one of his DJs because I could not afford to break the contract and lose my deposit. This time he fires the DJ and STILL doesn't tell me. This is all 2 months before my wedding. I finally decided to terminate his services and lost my deposit but as we all know with all the stress of the wedding who needs some shady DJ making it worse. TOTAL UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Find another vendor ladies.

I just wanted to share with you info on my DOC (day of coordinator). Since so many of us are on strict budgets (me included!), I wanted to share my DOC's info as she is EXTREMELY affordable. She is just starting out - but I have zero complaints. Having a DOC was a godsend!I got marred on Friday on 3/19. Because of our strict budget, our wedding was a DIY wedding. As such, I needed someone to day of the wedding to help me with doing what I wanted to do, but obviously could not do on the day of our wedding. I found my coordinator, Jen Akasaka, who helped me execute everything I had asked her to do. I had napkins that needed to be folded, with menu cards inserted, wrapped with a paper flower for each table setting, as well as placement of forks, spoons and favors, centerpeices, and table #s. She also helped me decorate and assemble our escort card tree; set up the guest sign in table/ gift table; during cocktail hour she grabbed the chairs we used for the ceremony and moved them into the reception room (we were trying to save the expense of having to pay for double chairs).... AND at the end of the night, she helped us tear down the paper lanterns we had hanging, packed all our gifts into out cars, along with the decorations, AND she even packed us some food just in case we were still hungry. I cannot recommend her enough! She was magnificent to work with and completely streamlined the wedding. There was not one thing I was stressed about-- she truly helped in making the wedding PERFECT! Her prices are also realllllly affordable- which again, was nice since we were on a budget. It was welllll worth the money!! Your posts have all been so helpful as I've planned my wedding that I thought I'd share with you a few of my favorite vendors. The vendor reviews were always the posts I looked out for because finding vendors is usually the hardest part! Anyway, here are the ones I could NOT live without:

Day of Coordinator- A+
Ladies- let me tell you- having a DOC will save your life. As I started wondering who would do what (who will set up the placecards? who will help pack all the stuff up?), I realized I didn't want to make family members/friends do all the work. My DOC was awesome!!! We met early on to discuss what I wanted and she helped me with a lot of little details I didn't think about. Then about a month before the wedding, we met again and that definitely helped get all the bits and pieces together.

If you guys are interested, she is FANTASTIC and is even doing a summer special for $350. She was worth way more than that (trust me, I was able to breathe/enjoy the day because of her) so if you're interested, email: jfweddingsandevents@gmail.com.

Makeup Artist- A+
I am definitely not a girly girl and wanted to look natural- I had a very specific look in mind and Minh totally helped me achieve it! She was honest with her opinions (I didn't want too much blush but she insisted because my cheeks would need them in pictures... and she was totally right!) and everyone loved my makeup! She was super great with my bridesmaids too. Organized, professional- she came to us the day of and was awesome.

Hey LadiesI asked the LA knotties but also wanted to ask my OC knotties this question as well. I have been getting a lot of advice to hire a day of coordinator. My wedding isn't until June of 2010 - I feel FI and I still have a lot of time to organize and plan ourselves. A DOC is really not in our budget. Do you think I can get one for $500 to $1000??
