Hey everyone,

Let me just say that I accidently posted this on the international board, so if you've already seen it please don't be annoyed.

My fiance and I have started looking at wedding bands, but we've both been having a very hard time finding an all sapphire channel band/eternity band/any band with sapphires instead of diamonds. Do any of you ladies have recommandations for Jewelers in the area who may carry these kinds of band or can do custom orders that aren't too pricey (we're trying really hard to stay under 700)?

Does anyone have a trumpet petticoat or any petticoat that would work under my dress below? The dress is a size 8 so I might need a size 10 petticoat or something close?? I need one that will fill out the bottom of this dress which is basically mermaid style with an asymetrical line below the hips. Hope to hear from you soon, need one asap! Or if you have recommendations of affordable stores in SD to go get one... Just want to try it on first

Coronado Community Center catering?

Any suggestions for catering at the Coronado Community Center?

There are so many companies on the already approved list, I'd like to hear feedback from people who have personal experience with any of them. We are working with a limited budget and about 175 guests... so we pretty much have to have a buffet style dinner.. and we want the best quality food possible for our money (we're paying for most of the wedding).

So if you've been to a wedding there, had your own reception therem, or worked with any affordable caterers in SD, let me hear it! :)

Need Venue Help

I am getting married in a year (almost exactly) and I am trying to find a place for my reception, unfortunately I have some very tight restrictions. I need it to be cheap, like under $2000. Requirements include: capacity of 80, not catered but will allow my chef friend to bring food (not cook on site), allow my fiance's favorite band to play and allow me to reserve it later, till 11 pm or midnight.
Right now I am in Finland (the country) and will be getting home (Washington State) in December, therefore I cannot go to locations to check them out until at least December.
I dont care how fancy or nice the place is. Any advice is welcome!!

Ideas for a vintage or art deco style venue?

I am trying to go with a 1920s/art deco type of theme and would love to have my wedding in a venue that fits in with this, so I am looking at ideas that would give that old world or deco feel. So far I came up with the following to look into, but if you have an experience with these or other suggestions I would love to hear them:

-Twin Oaks House & Gardens

-Culy Warehouse (I thought it would work well if I made the reception like a speakeasy perhaps)

-LaFayette Hotel (Online it looks like a great historical venue but reviews for the hotel are totally mixed so that concerns me)

-California Center for the Arts

I am also trying to be open about venues that may not have built-in vintage appeal but that can be dressed up to the theme easily...

I ordered mints as my wedding favors. I got an email from The Knot Billing saying my billing address was wrong. I called the number they gave me, waited on hold for 30 minutes and was then sent to voicemail. I left a voicemail and never got a call back. A week later I called again, waited for 25 minutes and the customer service rep told me that my address was correct and my order was already being filled.
When the mints arrived, they didn't include the personalized stickers that should have been in there. I decided to email customer service since the phones are such a hassle. 2 weeks went by with no response. I called, waited another half an hour on hold and the customer service rep said they'd send the stickers out right away. I got them but they only sent 75 and I ordered 150 mint tins!
Today I have spent a total of one hour and 45 minutes on hold with The Knot and have been told that there is one caller ahead of me only to be sent to voicemail 4 times! They don't give you the option to keep holding, they just screw you and send you to voicemail.
Don't waste your time or money ordering from this ridiculous company.

I've been looking around for an officiant in San Diego and I think they are completely overpriced!! I don't want to pay someone $500+ for a 20 minute ceremony. Does anyone know of any good civil union officiants? My husband to be and I both have Buddist like beliefs if that helps at all...

I am looking at photographers and DJs in San Diego for a May wedding. I've been looking at photographers and so far they seem to be ranging in the 3,000+ that I am finding. Is this normal? Does anyone have someone they loved?

Also I am lost on DJs- We only need a reception for around 4 hours.

Just wondering if anyone has someone they or a friend used that they loved. We're trying to keep things reasonable and a month's salary for photos is currently hard to swallow.

I'm looking for a wedding venue where the wedding can go on past the typical 10pm... I'm looking for a place that doesn't have just a 4-6 hour venue rental but can be more flexible in that regard. A lof of our guests are coming in from out of town and we want them to be able to enjoy the location and not feel rushed.

We would love to find a boutique hotel or something like that where all the out of town guests could stay (rent out all the rooms) and then have either the reception or an after party there...

So I am just starting to dabble into looking at caterers and (surprise!) they cost a lot more than what I had thought. I knew that food would be the most expensive thing at the wedding, but I initially thought that the cost of the servers and whatnot was included in the price per person. That being said, I'd like to find out a ballpark figure of what other ladies are spending on their food. I'm expecting 75 or so people at my wedding and have received quotes of about $5,000-$7,000. Some of these quotes include alcohol, some don't. Is this low, normal, or high? If it helps at all, we're going to have Mexican food...any advice helps! :)

I just moved to San Diego 9 months ago, and I have never seen pets in groceries stores until I moved here. Why? Why do people bring their dogs to the grocery store and is this considered normal behavior here?
