XP: Where to Buy a Bolero?

Hello ladies!

I am looking for a bolero to wear on my wedding day for a little more coverage. My dress is a sweetheart strapless Mori Lee --

I have been searching online for quite a long time to find a bolero that I like, and I finally found the style today!

I was wondering if you had any suggestions on where I could find a bolero similar to this style. I am looking to keep the price range around $60 and under if at all possible, but am willing to go a little higher if necessary. I found this one on Etsy, but the seller does not offer plus sizes.

I was also wondering if you think that this style would even compliment my dress at all. There is no sense in buying it, if it is going to clash with the dress.

I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with airbrush makeup? A lot of people have been telling me that it looks a lot better in pictures. I don't know any place that does it. Any recommendations? I still need a makeup artist as well so if you girls any good makeup artists, I'm open to that too! Please list their price as well

Did any of you end up getting paper lanterns for your weddings? I've been hoping to get some. I went onto paperlanternstore.com and they calculated my shipping at $300! Chinatown is about $3.00 a lantern and I was hoping for a bit cheaper.

Any suggestions for other places to check for cheap lanterns?

Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are getting married at the Ajax Convention Centre in August 2013. Most of our OOT guests will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn next door, along with those of us locals who do not want to go home at the end of the reception. My FMIL said this weekend we need to find a restaurant for brunch the next morning for those who are still around but I'm not quite sure where to start looking. There isn't really anything right by the hotel and I would like a different venue aside from where we are getting married or the rehearsal dinner location which is in Whitby. Does anyone have any suggestions? We have, basically, 100 people invited and, out of all of them, I see approximately half being around for the breakfast.

Had my hair & makeup trial with Nicole Richards Co. The woman doing my hair & makeup is Suzanne. She is AMAZING. Very easy going, listens attentively and really knows what she's doing.

I am fair-skined and never wear much makeup and I felt so comfortable with the look she gave me.

Hi Ladies, I just had my Spring engagement shoot and it was perfect! We went to the Harbour Bay Bridge in Toronto this past Sunday and had an hour session with Lushana ( http://www.lushanabalephotography.com/). The pictures turned out great, and I think its a grat location with many possible backdrops (park, bridge, city, water) She and her husband did a great job at taking creative pictures and we got some great ones with just us in the photo even though there were tons of people walking and biking around us. She really has a great creative eye.

I'm so excited!

Today I bought an absolutely gorgeous wedding dress at www.thebridesproject.com ... and all of the funds go directly to cancer charities!

This not-for-profit organization sells gently worn (and sometimes new, like mine was) wedding dresses, accessories and even flower girl & mother-of-the-bride dresses and all of the proceeds go to community cancer charities.

I have been working in Michigan for the majority of the last 4 months and hadn't yet gotten it together to get an appointment at the Toronto location when I've been home. I was so happy to discover that they actually have another location near where I've been staying in Michigan so I checked it out today... so glad I did!

It's so awesome that I was able to walk out with my dream dress AND the money went somewhere that needed it (ie. not the wedding machine!).

i am looking into having my wedding reception at The Vue at 195 Galaxy blvd in Toronto after being quoted $150pp plus tax and 10% gratuity at the Royal Ambassador. Apparently The Vue doubles as a night club. it's one of the spaces by "By Peter and Pauls"

has anyone been to a wedding there or know anything about the venue, price, the food, drinks, if it is on a flight path, ambiance or even if there is a ceremony site. this place overlooks the woodbine golf club

I'm getting married in Stouffville (Willowsprings Winery) on a tight budget. We're having a TINY wedding ~30 ppl and are hoping to spend about 10k.

I've done the dress, venue, cake and photographer and officiant and have a little left to spend. I've got a few things left to do, so I don't want to blow my budget out of the water on flowers. My only requirements are that they are pretty, in my colours (purple, green or white) and are guaranteed to show up on the day of. I am not at all opposed to DIY.

Does anyone know of any good (CHEAP!) flower shops in toronto, markham, stouffville, mississauga, richmond hill or nearby? I'm open to ANY suggestion (except Costco... I've got that one covered).

I'm also open to any creative suggestions for reception flowers. We're growing some of own for centrepeices and flower girl petals. My dad suggested using the bouquets as centrepeices once we were done with them. I rolled my eyes pretty hard at that... until I realized that it was absolutely brilliant. Anyone else have any clever ideas?

Hi ladies,

Looking for some recommendations for places to find non-trad flower girl dresses in the GTA.

We have 2 girls (5 and 8) that are acting as the FG and RB and we don't want them in the usual fluffy, tutu or shiny satin type dresses. We're getting married in an orchard, so would like something a little more appropriate to the setting.

Does anyone have any recommendations for places in the GTA where you can find such dresses? I'm thinking something cotton eyelet or floral printed would be nice.

Air brush makeup?

It was suggested to me to have my makeup air brushed for my wedding as it won't get shinny, etc - especially if this beautiful weather continues. Is this true? Would anyone recommend someone they have used? My hairstylist works with one, but she charges $140 - I thought this was insane. Any information / advise appreciated!

I was wondering if anyone has any advice for this situation?

We booked our florist last fall for our July wedding. Over the course of the last 9 months he has been paid in full.

I sent him an email a week ago and never heard back. Figuring he was just on vacation, I didn't think much of it. Over the weekend I went to his website and got a 503 host unavailable error message.

What recourse do I have if my florist has gone out of business? We are only 2.5 months to my wedding and I would be out $2300.

I wasn't sure where to post, so I figured my local board was ok! FI and I went to Michelangelo's in Hamilton last night and we have officially booked November 16, 2013! I know it's so far off but I want/need to loose weight. We are also selling our current house in June and buying a bigger one so we didn't want to plan a wedding and sell a house at the same time. I am so excited to start planning!!

hi everyone, i just received an inviattion to my friends wedding in feb 2013. it is destination wedding. the invitation was a card printed back and forth and simply stated that i was invited to the wedding of her and her fiance on this date at this resort. detailed information is provided on the wedding website that they made (they used The Knot's template and it looks amazing) including a section to RSVP online.

i spoke to her about the invite and she informed me that it cost less than $65 for 50 invites, postage and cute envelops stickers. i love the idea but i don't know if people still prefer the traditional invitation.

i just wanted to get your ideas on this more eco-friendly method compared to the traditional invitation. my wedding is in sept 2013. if i sent the invites out 6 months in advance with the link to the wedding website, i could get away with not giving a save-the-date and my guests could always go on the website for more info and to RSVP.

i believe all of my guests are computer savvy and if not at least know their way around a computer or someone who has one.

is this a tacky way of inviting guests to my wedding? with 70 invitations to send, i cannot afford to spend a lot of money on paper and postage that will end up in many of my guest's recycling bins after the wedding. as well, apart from my friend's wedding, i have not received an invite like this and i think it's pretty unique

I thought planning a wedding was stressful. Planning a wedding with an unplanned pregnancy is even more stressful!!! Here's hoping my dress will still fit when I'm five months along in December!

I'm very, very happy. Just overwhelmed. At least it has put the nit-picky details that you think are SO important about your wedding into a little perspective.

Anyway, is anyone in my boat, or am I sailing alone?
