Chocolates for favours

Can anyone reccomend some inexpensive places to get chocolates to fill my favour boxes. I tried a couple of specialy chocolate stores, and they were charging about $1/piece. I was hoping to find something a bit more affordable, since I would like to include 2 pieces in each box. I was even thinking of just getting some boxed chocolates if all else fails. Any suggestions?

Rehearsal Dinner

I hope this isn't a silly question but do we have to pay for everyone's meal at the rehearsal dinner? We were thinking of having it at a restaurant but I am unsure about whether we pay or each person pays for themselves. I have been to one that was held back at the couple’s home, and another that was held at a restaurant and we each paid for ourselves.

Nude shoes without a high heel

Hey ladies (and possibly gentlemen?),

Not only am I a soon-to-be bride, but I am also BM for my lovely friend!

She has chosen the colour "nude" for her BM shoes, but I've been having trouble finding them. The only nude shoes I've seen have giant high heels (i.e. http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/women/shoes/high-heels/82980267-lomack/32), in which I would probably kill myself.

Anyone know of a store that sells nude shoes in more of a strappy sandal style and a lower heel? I live in Mississauga, but would be willing to travel to buy! No online stores though -- I definitely have to try shoes on before purchasing.

One more kink to throw in the mix is that I have freakishly small feet (size 2), but when wearing heels, I have to swim in size 5's (otherwise I am in embarassing children shoes -- trust me, you CAN tell the difference).. Therefore, they need to have some sort of strap that goes around the ankle to hold my feet in haha And I definitely can not go higher than a size 5, which is another problem since most stores start at 6.

Giant Martini Glasses for Centrepiece

Me again! I've been helping my busy bride friend with a lot of legwork for her wedding, since the planning for my own big day has been going along smoothly so far.

She is looking for tall/giant martini glasses to use as centrepieces. Does anyone know where they could be rented or bought at a reasonable price? The one decor company she spoke to were charging $35 just to RENT the glasses!!!! Far too high, since she will also have to purchase all of the extras to decorate/fill the glass. She lives in Mississauga, but would be willing to travel to get them.

we're only looking for 4 hours of coverage (small/short wedding) and having a hard time finding someone whose style we like, and is willing to do a smaller package. we do realize it's a pain cause it occupies a whole possible day of shooting, but looking for suggestions!

Planning DIY

We are getting married next year and are planning as much of a DIY as possible. We would rather put our budget towards really important things that cannot be skimped on such as photos, videography, venues, food etc. We have family that will make our favours and cake as well. I am on the hunt for all in one places if at all possible that can help me with 3 categories:

Bulk Roses and Freeze Dried Rose Petals in a very wide colour range as our wedding is a rainbow theme and need to do brides bouquets, bridal party flowers and ceremony flowers that will double as reception flowers

Little extras such as Engraving Guest Frame, organze favour bags, bubbles, sparklers, candle holders, table card holders, etc

Stationary for every type we will need as we have our design concept already created and layout/wording. We will need to purchase embellishments, tools etc as well

So far I have found everything online in no less than 6 different places. There has got to be some better way to go about this. It seems like doing the planning was the easy part now its getting all the materials etc thats giving me the headache

Venue for approx 50 guests with accomodations nearby?

Great Experience Registering at the Bay

I thought I would write a post about our positive experience registering.

We went to The Bay at Square One around 7pm on Saturday evening. There were about 3 other couples also registering, and no one else in the store. The girl who set up our registry mentioned that we were only her second couple, but she was very competent and obviously well trained. I also liked that she didn't pressure or try to sell us on anything and just let us do our own thing.

The older gentleman working in the housewares department was excellent. He went out of his way to help us find prices and boxes to scan and gave great advice on which items were better than others. He suggested the best choice for different price ranges (e.g. mid-budget knives). I did research on the items we chose, and everything he suggested was what I would have picked. He was also like a ninja, managing to unlock display cases without us noticing, before we even needed to ask. He also only gave advice when we asked, which I really appreciated.

If you need to register at the Bay, I highly recommend the Square One location, especially on a Saturday evening. It was also clean and organized, which made the process a lot faster.

Now if only their web site was as good as their staff...

Barn Venue - GTA

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a barn venue to host my reception in the GTA. We live in Mississauga, but would be willing to travel up to an hour for our special day.

We will be having 100-110 guests and are on a tight budget!

Also, I would prefer a place that customizes menus or lets you bring in an outside caterer because we want to have a casual BBQ meal as oppoosed to traditional sit down wedding food.

P.S. If it has an outdoor space for a ceremony at the location, that would be perfect. We were looking at the Big Barn at Ball's Falls, but you can only have 25 guests for outdoor ceremonies :(

Forest Setting for Ceremony in Durham Region

Hi everyone!

Just got engaged December 22nd, and I'm so happy! I'm overwhelmed....I have no idea where to start. We know we don't want a long engagement...that being said we're thinking between August and November 2012....

I'm wondering if anyone knows a nice location in the Oshawa/Whitby/Ajax or Pickering area where we can hold our ceremony in the forest? We both love hiking, and I feel so peaceful in the forest :)

Also, any ideas in this area where we can hold a nice affordable reception would be soooo appreciated. I haven't been to many weddings and I'm seriously anxious to find somewhere as I know places book quickly!

We are having family style dinner so I do not feel the need to have a menu card for every guest. Would it be okay to have 1 menu card per table? Or what are your thoughts on having it by at the table with all of the place cards?

Or is it common to just give everyone a menu card? I just think it's a bit of a waste of paper....

Ritche called to say that the bridesmaid dresses have arrived more than three weeks before the expected arrival date.

My mom found her dress on her first shopping trip. She decided to target the Bayview Village sales, and found a dress for $300 marked down from $1200!
